My local fish store asked me to save this Dragon Fish from death!
This is a very unique fish that my local fish store received as a donation. They reached out to me and asked me to take the fish and try to bring it back from the edge of death! Today I share the story of what happened!

The best water you can keep him in is brackish water, and out of everyone,your one of the best people to take care of him, I hope you can save the little guy.

This is so heartbreaking, how is he doing so far??? Poor baby. I hate seeing him like that. Oh my gosh how do people just let their fish suffer like that. I just rescued a donated Pleco from Petco and I am getting it a bigger tank soon, right now he is really happy and started eating.

That was really nice of you to rescue him. Hopefully he will make it. He really looks pretty bad but hang in there and don't give up on him you are all he had got in hopes of getting better. Wishing him the best. Poor baby.

Great job to give it a chance👍 last september i got a 12inch endlicheri bichir out of a 2ft tank in a lfs.. very light colored, crazy like hell and a broken fin. he is now very good colored and about 3 inch grown. I love him😁 i can pick him up with my hands during cleaning so it worked out great. One of the fins has a little strange curve but he is so much different now

If ever he doesn't make it take solace in the fact that you were able to give him a peaceful place in which he was able to move on. I have had many experiences with reptile rescue in my younger days and it was the one thing I was able to tell myself in the sad event something didn't make it. Regardless as to the outcome good on you!

Oh my gosh. It boggles my mind that people can be cruel, and or incapable of having a pet. When someone hears animal abuse their minds go straight to a cat or dog. Usually never fish. I hope you can save this poor little guy. 🙏

Unfortunately you'd be correct. He passed not long after I uploaded that video. I did everything I could but he was just too far gone.

I actually have 2 of those, amazing hardy fish.... They are definitely nocturnal, and get big fast... I have one housed in my brackish aquarium with my freshwater lion fish... I hope he survives, keep me updated...

I have a golden dojo loach with a curved spine, and he has trouble swimming straight. I got him from a good pet store, but it looked inbred. I bought him (to the cashiers surprise) and a few others. He has since been alive for 5 years since adoption.

I have a sick dragon myself, darn pleco sucked all of his slime coat off overnight and left him with a bad sore and skin issues, trying to save him now, did yours make it?

Gobioides broussonnetii is a very unusual fish. There internal anatomy is different from most gobies and they actually have a Y shaped tongue bone (osteoglossum) .

I just got my first Goby and he is a cutie! He found a rock and hid under it for the first month with really no movement. Now that he's gotten acclimated he's been non stop swimming and exploring! I have 4 clawed frogs and some mollies and a beta with him and they all seem to have their own flow!

I have a violet goby about 7-8 inches now, in fresh water community 3 feet tank. I am slowly transitioning it into low end brackish for my mollies and few other fishes.

I "rescued" one that was kept well, but in fresh water. He is now in a 55g brackish tank with some peaceful tankmates and lots of sand to burrow in.

Not a rarest fish in the world... we do have this kind of fish in philippines river... we catch them and eat them.

Good work Zac! There’s plenty of “fish rescue” videos on RU-vid where people just bring a sick or beaten up fish home into their home aquariums. You actually went above and beyond and gave this guy the exact home he needs to heal and he probably thanks you! Excited to see what happens with him!

I understand how you feel, I hate seeing fish die too. I have always wanted a dragon goby, but still doing research and preparing myself for one. I don't want the same to happen to that one.

For any one wondering what kind of goby this is it ofc a Dragon goby oddly enough their large mouths are not used for eating fish they are basically a elongated earth eater fish

So I just got one even got sand special for him and he not very active and at the moment is laying upside down but if I try and carefully net him or anything he moves away and lays upside down again have you see this before

And by the way they heal very fast. I have had fish bite his guns but they heal very quickly.

Whenever I have a fish that’s beat up like that I treat with Melafix for about a week. Not sure how well it works with a scaleless fish though

In Florida my family and I found a moray eel on the brink of death while snorkeling. Some idiot tied over its mouth and eyes (not an accidental snag, there were intricate knots tied) with fishing line. My 7 yo and 11 yo brothers had to watch it die because we had no way to save it. It was clearly suffering the whole time.

Ya... I never gave an official update, just tried to respond to comments the best I can. He unfortunately passed about an hour after I uploaded this video. He fought hard but I knew it was a long shot he would bounce back. Appreciate you caring!!

I've answered multiple people about him... He did not bounce back. It was very hard for me to watch him suffer knowing there was nothing I could do about it

Mine fed on NLS pellets from the substrate. Very peaceful once settled. Kept mine with several geophagus species. Good luck brother. Keep us updated.

Next to goldfish, these are the most abused fish by Walmart. They’ll throw 4-5 of them into one of the small cubes and almost everytime I see them, there’s 1-2 dead.. Good in you for saving this poor guy! 🙌🏼

You commented on my Petco video and I never responded! I apologize! Fish Freaks is where I spend most of my time.... And money! But Nebraska Aquatic Supply has an awesome collection of smaller, freshwater fish. Rivers and Reefs is great too, not as big as fish freaks but they have a good selection that I enjoy! Fintastic Fish in Bellevue I've heard good things about, but haven't gone there yet! Hope that gives you some stores to check out! Hope the Dalmatian Molly are doing well!

I've had mine for 5 years in a 125 gallon fresh water tank. He's done amazing. Loves blood worms. I saved him from walmart. Then I had to save him from myself. I was a new fish keeper and didn't even know what the nitrogen cycle was. But now 5 years in he's loving life and now I'm doing a reef tank.

That poor fish. Gee I really hope he makes it & gets to live a great life with you. Either way he has to be way more comfortable now than he ever was. Why are some people so ignorant......eternal question I think. What an awesome thing to do & again I truly hope he makes it.
