What’s so irritating about this is that he wants a mint sign or bowser but why? To have it sit on his lot and rust like the rest of his “collection” the guy is nuts

I really want to see those statues restored. Seeing them deteriorating like this breaks my heart. Especially the Sally one, the expression on her face looks like she just wants to end it all (bags under her eyes and everything). I'll share this on my Twitter, try and get some Sonictubers to do the same, and hopefully something comes from this. Keep us updated though, yeah? I want to see a happy ending from this. I'm very shocked about this. I would have figured that the Sonic and Sally statue would have shipped to Japan in the headquarter of Sega Japan not in a landfill this is very disheartening.

Castrol Bowser or sign? To be able to preserve a lost piece of SEGA history for a few vintage automobile relics seems very reasonable

I may be from the US but I'll keep an eye for those things, you'd be surprised how people get their hands on some things. I really really want to see that statue return to it's former glory!

Wait, that Sonic statue was the Classic Sonic statue animatronic from one of the rides that had a joystick that stood on top of a controller moving its head, and tapping its foot

As someone who regularly tunes in to American Pickers, none of this is strange to me at all. Auto memorabilia is huge business.

Antique shows and antique dealers are gonna be your best friend. Maybe try old local car garages. I'm over in 'murica so I can't do you much good but I figured why not try.

#SaveTheFreedomFighters I hope you get that sign, everyone forgets Sally exists and that she was a huge part of SEGA back in the day, she was at their amusement park and actually had toys,shirts ect..it's sad SEGA doesn't care about anything from back then..they used to be huge in the 90's and kicked Mario's butt who does nothing but save a princess all day. Sally was a princess who fought her own battles and existed way before Blaze and Tikal. She deserves some love and spotlight.

Ok, I know that this video is old and you might not be able to get it, but there could still be hope for Sonic as he only has 1 arm and a chunk of the other gone along with his paint damaged. He can still be fixed! But, sadly Sally is beyond repair.

Really can't thank you enough mate! I've wondered about the internal Sonic themed decorations, but most specifically these statues, for YEARS... I just KNEW someone somewhere had to have at least one of the two statue sets I remembered... I am hoping maybe the larger one outside is still existing somewhere... but this most certainly is a start. I've dreamed of owning one of these, esp Sally, but that can only forever be a dream. I am hoping that you will have success and be able to acquire and preserve the one you found! Deffo looking forward to seeing what happens. I do respect the salvage yard owner (as one collector of stuff to another, even though I wish the antiques and collectables were better stored). Sadly I see that a lot, but I also understand buildings cost heaps. Just really brings me to my knees in happiness that this discovery was made. I'd shake the salvage yard owner's hand if I could. If you could, I would be stoked if you told him a big thank you from me. I don't know how he acquired it, but glad he did! It is surreal seeing something I always hoped existed in this manner, actually happening.

I know a shop in melbourne Australia called Debrets in moonee ponds they have a bowser in great condition made in 1965 p.s I live in Australia

So glad to see that the survival of the Sonic and Sally statues is riding on a Bowser or a Castrol sign...

This as well as the Sonic Statue in the Japanese mountains both need to be restored and placed lovingly in a Museum, or even better a SEGA official's possession.

I also think that “stealing” the statues isn’t done out of malice but to save and preserve them because based on what we have seen of their condition they aren’t going to last much longer. Sonics other arm has a huge chunk broken off and that might fall off soon. Sadly sally is just a head.

i dont know if this is still on going but the junk shop in molong might be a really good spot to try.

Here's an idea - what if you told Gary that you won't buy the statues, but instead you will go to the junkyard with tools to restore the statues for free for him, including bringing some kind of rain/weather shelter. That way, Gary keeps them, they will be in better condition and survive a bit longer. Then the statues could maybe be bought a couple of decades down the line.

Had they told you another option of trading for the statues?

From my searches on Gumtree there are Castrol signs for sale there. Do you know if they meet Gary's requirements?

Compared to the Sonic statue in Japan, these ones are in a really dire and beyond saving situation. Sonic is missing body parts here while the Japan one is just missing some of its nose.

Maybe if we scrounge up some change from in between the couch cushions we can find what we need on EBay or something

I am sneaking in on Friday and taking the statues, (stealing them) sally may be to far gone but SONIC MIGHT be able to be restored are atleast particularly restored I will try to get sally but I don’t think I can restore them

guys i managed to find the junkyard online! i am not going to say where it is but they have a facebook page. it may not be them buy it looks very similar, with a large castrol sign, so it has to be.I used my phone, but when i get my internet back (lol) i will check google maps with the street view and see what it looks like.

This is what I'd do. Once I get to his place I'd dig to the Sally and sonic statue with my Friends coming along (There big sonic fans Like me) They'd Grab it Depending on how Heavy it is we'd have to call some other people once we get it me and my Bff will repair it and fix the Paint and Put it in our Backyard Also I'd try to make Sally a body. That's my plan hopefully I can do this one day if the statue remains there
