One can easily see why so many lives and limbs and digits were lost long ago when lives were less important than production and profits. Thanks to technology and the pressure of the public we now enjoy a safe mix of life with minimal injury and profitable production. Without that proper balance, there are no workers to be the engine of production, nor profits to pay those workers. May God bless the souls, survivors and families of those pioneers who brought us that balance!

Plenty of wood left in the offcuts for making smaller handles, e.g.hammer handles. It may explain why most billhook handles in the UK are now made of hickory, rather than the traditional ash - the softer ash does not split so easily when forcing the tang into the handle, and feels better in the hand. A lot of waste in the shaping process, some could be reduced by rough sawing the blank with a bandsaw, or even sawing tapered blanks rather than parallel sided ones..

I like the one at a time belt-driven nice rhythm having still has a human working with it machine. never mind that 4atta time jaz. I'll bet the rest of the process has more to do with human workers. Very nice to see!

there are machines who can do this much faster and 4 at the same time. bacci or elio valeri and advance is even sand at the same time. we sell alot of these machines.
