I'm in Central America and thought maybe I found a saw palmetto, took pictures and then found your video along with a native range map for the plant. I purchased for an older man the dried fruit pills. In less than 30 days, he went from getting up 7 times a night to 4 and is peeing much longer. He's had thr problem for 14 years and asked us to find something to help him. He's 150lbs and uses 2 pills twice per day at about 500mg each. What a blessed plant. I also use the plant for PCOS hirsutism. It works quickly to thin and reduce facial hair on me.
Can you please tell me how did you use the plant to thin your facial hair. It is already many years I'm using different things but still I have facial hairs.
Thank you very much I really needed this video it’s very very kind of you to give us the easiest way to identify them! God bless you and Jesus is coming very soon!
Best way to tell is to grab the saw palmetto frond stem right next to the trunk and grip as tight as you can and pull so hard your hands slide up to the leaf. If you see blood it’s a saw palmetto… then go get some neosporin.
I have saw palmetto on 80% of my property and I do not allow heavy vehicles on the property so my mycelium or mycorrhiza (mushroom fungus stuff) doesn’t get disturbed. I just chop and drop it now as I install my food forest. I did have to dig up some rhizomes to put in yams/cassava but I keep the saw palmetto around as stunted plants until eventually they die off from constant chopping. The native blueberries have started to produce more since the palmettos have been. Eaten back. I have kept healthy original patches and hedges of saw palmettos so native lizards and pollinators are still here. I just needed to clear a bit out for the food forest as I am not eating palmetto cabbage hearts as a staple when I can have yams and cassava.
Thank you for sharing. I'm still trying to identify the palms in my yard. I love my local UF/IFAS extension. I have started watching their podcast and webinars.
This was an awesome explanation! I knew they seemed different but at a glance look the same. Can a saw palmetto be successfully transplanted? I'm looking to add a few to my yard.
