Indoor Super High Efficiency Fine material Stove.
Full Heat burn time 10 hours
Cool down with usable heat 3-5hours. So a total 13-15 hours of usable HEAT.
It will burn anything: wood pellets, leaves, dried plant matter, larger pieces of wood, cutoffs, whole logs or waste oil soaked into sawdust and it burns just as well. My design is virtually 100% efficient and burns all the wood gases along with the wood itself.

My oil burner repair guy said my old oil boiler consisted of a metal garbage can and a burner and therefore not efficient. If I lived out in the woods, I'd definitely build something like your sawdust stove. At least someone who needs a rocket stove heater, he can build one with your help.

im currently using a 30 gal drum for heat,it looks a lot like the size of the burner chamber,using it might save some work/welding,to use a 30 inside the 55,looks great nice finished product

On the top of the sawdust could you use a round steel plate, with the centre hole in it so it moves down as the sawdust burns, preventing the top sawdust from catching on fire, you could push down on it also to pack the sawdust, pull your wooden dowl out and it's ready, just a thought
@sixtyfiveford
@sixtyfiveford 8 лет назад
+steve fabiano I have test with smaller projects and the plate hinders the burn. The center hole need to grow in diameter as it burns.

Question is that the Finished handle? wont it be really hot resting on the barrel like that could it be curled or curved upward i mean away from the barrel itself? just curious i never seen one of these in person i dunno know ? ;)

The bottom of the barrel won't get hot with this design.

Nice Build ! How hot have you had the stove ? What would you say a Clear distance would be from surroundings ? would like to put 1 in garage , thinking about a corner setup only have 6 - 8 inches of clearance on back ? Thanks
@sixtyfiveford
@sixtyfiveford 9 лет назад
Tool19672 It will put most of it's heat out of the top 1/2 of the barrel. Like any wood burning stove most of the heat will go up but a good amount of clearance from unshielded walls is necessary. I would think at least a foot, plus a sheet metal shield spaced out from the walls about an inch would be necessary.

Wonder if the inside of a scrap electric water heater would work for the smaller inner drum?

Hi 65ford Thank you for a good video. Hope you can help! I need to build a rocket stove to heat a swimming pool of about 140 000 liter (37 000 US gallon) Two 1.1kw pumps will circulate the water. The pipes from the pumps are 50mm (2 inch), and I will split each pipe into 11 copper pipes of 15mm (0.6 inch) each to equal the same volume. Each of these 11 X 2 copper pipes will be form into a spiral of 30 meter. (100 feet) The diameter of the drum will be about 1 meter. (40 inch), and the width perhaps slightly more. I plan to make the outer drum 300mm (12 inch) higher than the inner drum. And the diameter of the outer drum will be 1.6 meter (64 inch) Airflow will be from underneath, i will make a grid of copper pipe to build the fire on. The chimney will be about 400mm (16 inch) from the bottom. I assume a chimney of 100mm X 100mm will be sufficient (4 X 4 inch) My question, if anybody could help me perhaps, is about the ventilation of 300mm. (12 inch): Is it sufficient, too wide, or too narrow? Thank you in advance!
@mjhauptfleisch614
@mjhauptfleisch614 6 лет назад
Sorry! The diameter of the drum will be about 1 meter. (40 inch), and the HEIGHT perhaps slightly more.

I'm curious if someone could use this as a boiler for radiant floor heat...i'm sure it would make it a bit more efficient...
@sixtyfiveford
@sixtyfiveford 9 лет назад
Daniel Kadera Yes, but radiant heat isn't necessarily more efficient.
@rngmstrdan
@rngmstrdan 9 лет назад
i duno it'd still be nice in a woodshop where open flame could be a bad thing just keep this in a seperate room and run radiant heat into the shop. not to mention you got a way to get rid of all your sawdust.

Where can I get oil drums like those?
@sixtyfiveford
@sixtyfiveford 10 лет назад
Craigslist or behind warehouse buildings. They usually run 5-10 bucks just search for: barrel, steel drum, metal drum, or gallon drum and you should find some. Some places will even give you as many as you want for free just ask.
