I love Ms. Harper so much. She is one of the classiest and most intelligent women you would ever meet. She is a First Lady of a church that's why you are getting those vibes.
I'm confused......Saweetie's aunt look like she can be Saweetie sister......Sweetie grandma look like she can be Saweetie aunt or her mom....overall nice family.
Saweetie grandmother said something key “ you had the vision, we didn’t have the vision, I’m so glad you followed your vision” sometimes we expect our family to know us best but they don’t, only you know what you can accomplish, nobody knows or sees what you see, Go out there and be your own vision for you !! ❤️✊🏽
I caught that too and it was refreshing to hear especially coming from grandma. Above all else most grandchildren just want the approval of the grandparents. We not even thinking about the parents 🤣🤣🤣🤣 That was big of grandma to say that. You can tell she loves her😍😍😍😍
they prayed over food that is NOT received with "thanksgiving" #bible, they literally gave thanks for sea roaches and spiders, which GOD does not want his people to eat. god bless, #liveandlearn
Saweetie’s grandmother has such a pure spirit. You can feel the love through the video. Seeing her family makes me understand why Saweetie is so confident, unproblematic, and fun.
Being Filipino & Black is such a cool mixture. It’s cool that she was able to experience both cultures and get the best of both worlds. American tradition pressures half black mixed people to claim only their black side which I always found to be disgusting and wrong. They’re both 🙃 And should embrace both if they choose.
@Natalie Loyd Sounds like a pressed jealous girl to me, only jealous people come for lightskins because they know lightskins have privileges. It' not their fault their born like that and yes colour is a thing and we should be proud of where we are from and our skin colour whether your lightskin or not. Blasian is a thing stop acting like skin colour shouldn't be seen because it's something that every human should be proud of, it makes us different.
Saweetie, her Aunt and Grandma are very beautiful people, with even more beautiful souls. she's lucky to come from such a great family. i really enjoyed watching them cook.
Taiah Guess hay sis I don’t know if your a black women or not but I’ll tell you anyway just a skin care routine u wanna try because black women need that vitamin E🤣 anyway Face: Ambi body Care Soft & Creamy)you can use on face as well as body - Hair:Sunny Isle Black Jamaican Caster Oil/whipped Shea butter one to. Body:Also when you get out the shower u can use (Jergens Wet skin body Moisturizer With Restoring Argan 0il) that’s for body only - and they have one for you face called Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer for face but I don’t recommend that I looked up reviews and white women was saying it’s a tanning cream or whatever and I don’t use that so.If you want like a/Body Massaging Cream: its Aveeno Daily Moisturizing.
@@samanthachikoore3108 Yeah lol I wrote the comment way before they said it so SORRY if I wasn't paying attention. And the way her grandma said "Filipina" wasn't clear to me so I had to search it on Google if it was true
Sorry but this really made me tear up because when she said we got good family. I swear that’s all I want. I love that her grandma is not judging her but yet she is still respectful!
being Native American it makes me so happy knowing that her grandma knows the history behind the tribe and proceeded to give background about it. fuckn love that
As an African American, I was confused cuz gumbo has nothing to do with y’all. A lot of african Americans are obsessed with pretending they’re part native and it needs to end.
Loved it when her grandma said "You had the vision, we didn't have the vision, I'm glad you followed your vision", sometimes parents don't understand their sons/daughters dreams and see them as unrealistic making them doubt themselves or go for the safer option, you just gotta listen to yourself cause only you know what your vision is.
I think it’s so important that the old generation talk and tells us these stories of the history of our food so it lives on, so we always remember where it’s comes from, and how much power and sadness is in one pot 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
ruby r maybe she’s not as close to her other side or they weren’t available or most likely not good cooks. If her grandma on her dads side is the best cook...wouldn’t you choose them?
Fleurinwonderland duno, I just thought if it involves cooking it would automatically be the filipino side because Filipinos know how to throw DOWN. And I just thought the channel would want to show something different. I just thought it would be exciting to see her filipino side and filipino food.
Everybody talking about how beautiful they are but her grandmother is so warm and they are so articulate and loving, they remind me a lot of my family. The way she was able to trace their history back is priceless 👌🏽
And she says if u don’t know what adobo is ur not a real Dominican yet she don’t even know how to cook her family’s traditional dish (which was easy af), girl stop lol
Tell me why saweetie and her grandma made me think of the princess and the frog !? I remember tiana would always make gumbo with her dad when she was a little girl and saweetie gave me that vibeeee like y’knowwww???

A little history : i LOVE that her grandmother knows they are descendants of the chata tribe (wrongly pronounced Choctaw, however her grandmother pronounces it correctly!) . They were indeed forced to move from greenwood Mississippi to Tulsa OK, specifically the greenwood district also known as BLACK WALL ST! many people think all the inhabitants of BLACK WALL STREET were newly freed slaves up from slavery but that’s because they don’t tell us the original inhabitants of the Americans were copper colored, dark brown/ “black” aka modern day African Americans. They changed our history by writing us out of it! Andrew Jackson then allowed to re-write history and allot land to non natives through the Dawes List. I love that her grandmother knows her history. Many of us have heard we have native in us not realizing that full ness. More than likely if BLACK WALLSTREET would not have been destroyed by racist whites her family would be there today.
I think you're confusing some info here. I'm not aware of Choctaws in *Greenwood* Mississippi. The current members of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians do not live in the Delta. The Choctaws removed from the South - specifically Mississippi - were from other parts of the state. Greenwood was the name of the section of Tulsa known as Black Wall Street. And her grandmother's pronunciation of Choctaw is similar to the way tribal members pronoun it (although her version sounds a little different). The other pronunciation of Choctaw is standard for those not in the tribe.
Rikeshia Davidson : they came from what is now modern day Greenwood Mississippi , LeFlore County. LeFlore was the tribal leaders name, he was mixed raced and signed the treaty to move them to Oklahoma. They felt he was a sellout and voted that he stay in Mississippi rather than come to Oklahoma. The tribes on the trail of tears came from not just Greenwood but all over Mississippi and southern states ( multiple tribes to multiple locations) . For the purpose of this video I am confirming what her grandmother said.. the CHATA tribes did indeed come from GREENWOOD MISSISSIPPI TO THE GREENWOOD DISTRICT OF OKLAHOMA AND WERE GIVEN LAND BY THE GOVERNMENT THEIR JOURNEY WAS KNOWN AS THE TRAIL OF TEARS. Note I’m NOT referring to the fake tribes of Indian nations that were established and given land by Andrew Jackson. I’m talking about the black natives whom were already here.
FelineFokus a lot of people are finding their older family members are telling them they were never enslaved and have no recollection of slavery. My family has said that they didn’t know much about slavery until “Roots” came out in the 1970’s. I’m glad you know your background .
They stold land and our identity, this is why people are so confused. There is a reason why the archeological record in the americas shows the original people bones don't match modern Natives today. Science already proves they come from Siberia and are asian in lineage. They have lost their copper tone the more they stopped mixing with the original people and began mixing with europeans. We have kept our dark copper red undertone which can be observed in majority of black americans. Indigenous people inhabited every continent and corner of earth but the Americas? We been here before arrival of europeans, moving us around as prisoners of war started the slave trade. Please do your own research, I like the work of Dane Calloway and Kurimeo Ahau on RU-vid. Looking into your own genealogy, it will also reveal the truth as we have been here longer than the majority of americans, and not as a result of slavery. The lies write us out of history for a reason, they don't want you to know who you are, who were the pyramid building civilizations along the Mississippi river and Ohio Valley? You think those people died off or disappeared? Why is the archeological history of the americas not studied past 10,000 years, only the geological record?
@@curlAygurl but if your in a restaurant all the time you should know a thing or two about the food lmao buh ok especially if your watching ppl cook and stuff it still has to do with food buh uh ok ?
No disrespect but I hate when people say latin/hispanic seasoning is only for Dominicans. I’m Honduran and I use all of that and more. And the blending of the onions, peppers, cilantro and garlic is called sofrito. Adobo is not only a Dominican thing. Even some African Americans use it. But yeah, no hate or anything , just stating my opinion. I love them both though 😩 they’re all very beautiful! Edit: I do not have a problem with any nationality. Simply stating my OPINION. The minute someone says anything about Dominicans, people jump and get so offensive like relax it was never that serious. All I’m saying is I’ve always heard people connect Adobo with JUST Dominicans and so many other people use it. Bringing drama where there is none. For those who are respectful thank you and for those who are negative, hop off ✌🏽
and west african as well! i’m nigerian and it’s a staple...also i have alot of caribbean friends who also use it so it really is just a multicultural seasoning
Saweetie and her family are so gorgeous! Her Auntie could be her big sis and her Grandma could be her mother. She’s lucky she’s going to be looking youthful and beautiful for a long time 😍😍
saweetie you are so lucky to have such a young, beautiful and classy grandma, cherish her and spend every minute you can with her! They're here for a much shorter time than we realize.
My mother always told me if I have nothing nice to say then don’t say it all. So I’m going to keep my comments about DaniLeigh (yellow bone is what he want) 😂 to myself. But Saweetie on the other hand I can’t get enough of her ❤️ she’s so humble, seems so down to earth. I love how she loves her family.
