F Boy Story: I was balling when he met me and he took advantage of that and destroyed my peaceful pretty world. He was homeless when I met him, he lied about that. He was jobless when I met him, he lied about that. He’s a 34 y/o unevolved, overweight, mean, black, Sagittarius man who it took me forever to see had nothing to offer me. I’m a 28 y/o Gemini, model, black femme, poet, and singer. What made me stay for so long you wonder? He was a dreamer (I kindly called this “aspiring entrepreneur” when we were together) a musician, and a chef. Needless to say I lost hair and gained weight in that anxiety-inducing relationship. Oh, and to top it all off, this person was not a physical man. Just a female who identifies as man yet does none of the “man” things. I was even supportive of their desire to transition, but along the way I was constantly dealing with their fury, temper tantrums, “everybody on earth sucks” attitude, and self-hate. To end the relationship, I moved across the country and he followed me to the new state. Then, I ended things with him once he secured his own place (which, of course, he needed my financial help to obtain.) He proceeded to come to my place, barge inside, and scream at my like a maniac all while threatening to call the police on ME even though he was trespassing in MY place. The lunacy of it all drained the final drops of love and consideration I once had for this person. Now, I’m living in peace, stacking my money, and pursuing my own creative career. I take responsibility completely for operating in my masculine and being a low value woman in that relationship. I look forward to flourishing in my feminine and reinventing my new life in a wonderful city. That relationship wasted just over a year of my life but I learned so much about codependency and how to develop my own confidence. This is all very good advice. I would add that if the relationship that ended was abusive, you really need to examine what happened to make sense of it. Maybe go to therapy, get some self-help books and think about the similarities between your early family life and the romantic relationships you enter. Try to look for any patterns, because there probably are some. It's okay to feel confused, lost, conflicted, sometimes miss your abuser while hating them etc, it's all part of the process. Just remember, you and your mental health have to be your number one priority.
