I dont know why her label & management think that her "Icy Girl" aesthetic wasnt the move. We WANT someone to represent the luxury black girls. She was independent yet ultra feminine. Not all of us are hood and thats okay.
She may be that kind of hood tho and she may have been suppressing it. She did grow up around the Bay Area, her Blk daddy and family is a particular way and even her prom pictures were ghetto fabulous like, y’all want her to be what u want her to be so bad when she’s being herself 🤦🏾♀️
@@SupernaturalLove100 i think they are trying to have her be more hood than what she is. And it comes off inauthentic. I think thats the point of Zach's call. I think in the beginning she had a good balance of ratchet and chill.
She’s actually not from the Bay Area. She’s from Sacramento, and if you’re from the bay, you know Sac is completely different and mostly not hood at all.
@@SupernaturalLove100 I honestly think that before she was signed (high maintenance ep) that was probably her most authentic self. She had no reason to suppress any parts of her personality, her style, etc because she was independent. I think the issue lies in the fact that she’s not particularly good or distinct in her craft, so her new aesthetic comes off as marketing to what’s popular, rather than an artistic expression (like Rico Nasty when she first came out vs now)
I love that Zack addresses the colourism in the room. I 100% agree, pretty privilege has given Saweetie her platform but she needs to fire everyone and start again. Get better ghost writers, either commit to the choreography or cut it altogether and be more selective with who she associates with. There was a time that Saweetie was highly regarded, and I like her as a person, I think she can get there again but she needs to go back to the drawing board.
@@jayventi Why? So y’all could attribute her success to her skin color as well which is your favorite thing to do to light skinned women? Lol Cardi B is a talented rapper/performer with an eccentric personality to match that’s brought her fame. Are you gonna bring up how Beyoncé’s benefited from the system of colorism as well? Or how it’s done the same for Nicki? Or is it funner to project your inadequacies onto Saweetie?💀🙄
I dabble in saweetie, and I genuinely believe that people want to like her music. Her team needs to go back to the drawing board and drop the icy and pretty girl music for a while. Her song Icy was the best quality single from her, it was slightly personal, still cute and boujie. I think it's clear that she is pretty but I think her prettiness captures people's attention but her art is what is supposed to keep people's attention.
I think the pretty this pretty that branding dries up fairly quick and therefore pushes alot of female influencers to transition from the basic bad bitch girly all pink everything- aesthetic to their inner edged out daring side . This usually helps keep those artists relevant and current . It's all about reinventing yourself from time to time .
Right Megan is a performer and what a lot of people don’t realize, choreography isn’t the only factor that makes you a performer. Stage presence is! Megan has that!
When people say you’re doing something bad on purpose, thats an indicator of how terrible it is cause ppl can’t believe you could actually bomb like that
Saweetie needs to be a model. She’s beautiful that’s her talent. You’re right she does look super corny. I feel like she has a “marketable” look and personality. She needs to capitalize on that. She needs to be a model, come out with a clothing line where she’s serving looks the girls may eat that up, become a socialite and hang it up. I think an Icy Girl podcast would give! If her team pushes the media side of saweetie with the occasional high profile modeling gigs such as Savage X Fenty. She could really make a great career for herself. But right now she looks super crazy.
Ohh I love the podcast idea. She should definitely think about it. I've seen her interviews and she is a pretty interesting talker. She knows how to keep you interested.
As you said Zach, Saweetie is an influencer, a media personality, and I think with Cardi B going from that to a successful rapper, Saweetie is trying to follow her lead, and take it to the next level (like with the McDonalds deal and her being less controversial). But because Saweetie's flow is eh, and her writers don't give her that punch she needs, she is flopping. Add in she can't perform, which is what most musicians need so a single can get traction? I think she might be the straw that breaks the camels back when it comes to models trying to become accomplished rappers.
At least Cardi can perform and entertain you. That’s why she got to stay around even though we know she isn’t writing her rhymes. And I’m not a Stan for Cardi
I think she needs to cut the choreo and just accept she cannot dance. A lot of artists just walk around a stage and I think she can pull that off. Rihanna used to keep dancing to the minimal for a good part of her career until she gained stage confidence. Saweetie should just try to work on her swag and her confidence and walk around and wave her arms etc..until she FINALLY gets it and it clicks
@@temporarymusiclover EXACTLY. This phenom of female rappers serving a lot of choreo is more of a new thing. I remember older rap girls would hardly dance and it was still super entertaining. Hope she gets it.
This. She’s not leaning into what works for her. I love the fact that Rihanna doesn’t do choreographed dance, because when she does dance, its more in the line of the spontaneous “me and my girls dancing to music at home” style, which comes across as more natural, rather than trying to attempt the precise choreography that Beyoncé does. She doesn’t need to be a dancer to be a pop star. Doja grew up dancing, which is why she performs the way that she does, but Nicki doesn’t always dance. And if there is space for Dua Lipa to do the bare minimum on stage, there is space Saweetie to just two step and get the job done.
@@ariesmry i agree. More rap girls are dancing ig to “put more of a show on” but truth is a lot of fans won’t even care for choreography because we want to hear the music. See how men don’t dance? it’s like women are held to an expectation in the rap industry to do more, when all they have to do is literally RAP😂 stage presence & breath control literally should be the only thing. A lot of rappers aren’t performers but she can evolve and get better, i believe. Anyone could.
It’s because she is misplaced. Everyone has a lane and I’m a strong believer that everyone has their own lane and a uniqueness about them. She is positioned wrongly and it shows and it grates on everyone. It’s not a hate train. Once she finds out where she can really excel, she will flourish and shine well. Right now, she’s trying to pay back her debt to her label. It’s similar to when you take a job that you thought would work out to your favor, but you end up not liking the job, just the pay. From there, you give lackluster effort and all your colleagues can see. It then annoys anyone and everyone, including your clients or customers.
I think y’all need to stop speaking for her. Sayin she doesn’t like what she do, only does it for the pay. Like we do not know this girl & her mindset about everything.
@@feliciaboston6365 It has everything to do with her calling. Not just any and everyone who's worked hard and has talent performs like she does. Why do you think she's the "standard"? She was in a group with, including all the member changes, 5 other girls if you include Farrah's short stay. Why did none of the other girls, ESP. in the first Destiny's Child rotation who did the same work and ran the same miles while singing as her, stand out like she did? Even after their few solo parts, people would go crazy when Beyonce's came on. It's because she has an obvious gift. She's obviously living in and practicing her calling.
This is what I’ve always felt about her. I feel like she should have came up as an influencer or with a good tv personality gig like LaLa did but I know we’re in a social media age now the influencer hustle probably would have been her best bet.
I honestly hate the "ANY publicity is GOOD publicity" mindset. Yes, you have the publicity, but do you have the RESPECT? None of this attention shit matters if no one takes you seriously. #IJS 🤷🏾♀️
Who cares. Not every single artist/entertainer is holding “respect” for their music in high regards when she’s primarily a businesswoman building a brand around her music and it’s messages like..she ain’t Beyoncé and ain’t tryna be Beyoncé. She’s making money which seems to be her primary goal and she’s done a great job at it. Stop tryna make her somebody she isn’t 🥴
@@SupernaturalLove100 Selling mcdonald's and promoting pornhub isn't a high level business woman loll. Rihanna is a billionaire now because she's respected.
What you said about pretty privilege and colorism is spot on. Going off that I think another reason why people are “hating” is because other girls who are giving what needs to be given like Bree Runway & Flo Milli are still fighting to breakthrough yet here is this pretty girl who’s of a lighter complexion underperforming. And she’s still booking deals, given checks and now has a Grammy nom
Those women are dark skin. Unfortunately the industry only pushes the lighter skin & mixed women. The Cardi bs, Doja cats, Saweetie types. Look at Normani they give her nothing. But give Saweetie everything
For me with Saweetie, It is as if she is trying out all the different formulas that made the other rap girls successful but it is not working for her. That's like going to someone else's closet & trying on their clothes. They clothes will never fit right because they were never tailor made to fit her. She needs to find what works for her true authentic self.
It is insane how many people are delusional in the comment section about her performances and the reason why it is not efficient. I used to love Saweetie. Focus, get it, and icy are my favourite songs of her. I used to love her natural elegance, and chilling vibes. However, in her last performance she didn't remember the lyrics of her song icy. Thanks God the dj was there. I know we all have our flows, but this is just another bad performance to add in her resume. When I started to compare her with Lizzo, everything make so much sense. When I see the way Lizzo is bashed because she is big whereas she is an amazing performer and singer, I think we need to admit that her public will create her downfall because of their low standard that they keep for her and it will never benefit her. I think she doesn't really care anymore because her public either loves her to be highly criticized or be praized even we all know that we can't understand her in her performances.
Lizzo is a bad performer ?? I’ve only seen her perform once on the BET Awards and it was amazing . That’s the performance that made me tolerate Lizzo . Grant it , I haven’t listened to her since her break our song. What performance was she struggling with ?? Want to go see for myself
@@staciegreene2262 I stated that Lizzo is a great performer. I just compare her with Saweetie to highlight that people have high expectations when it is about Lizzo performances whereas for sweetie the bar is pretty low now. Probably because of the fact she is big and it is hard for some to acknowledges that she can be great and big. I didn't even bash her neither Saweetie
I loooove your honesty Zach. This really needs to be said. I dislike how the extremely talented dark skinned girls aren’t getting any opportunities but saweetie gets to perform horribly on every screen and ppl just say “she’s trying.” I’m sorry but you shouldn’t be getting opportunities meant for superstars for “just trying”. Not only is it colorism, but it’s class privilege as well. She’s related to multiple celebrities, she didn’t have to try hard to get where she is now.
i honestly am scared for when her album comes out. the label is not gone keep holding this album but for so long. like you said in the previous saweetie video, they are going to have to come up with a big marketing campaign for her. but nowadays the look is really what propels you… talent is 25% of the pie… marketability and branding is the rest. idk what’s next for my girl but baby i hope her label and team fixes this stain over her career. they can fix it…. do they want to though? Does SHE want to? chile ima just sit back and watch.
I'll add with the marketability and branding something else, preparation: you need to prepare as well, practice your rapping abilities, your dancing abilities, take stage presence classes, it's essential.
@@wasabi.2839 that all goes under talent. do artists have ability to do the work nowadays? it’s more about image. artist development isn’t a thing anymore.
I still remember people calling Megan’s album a flop for selling 100k first week. Can saweetie even do 70k? Roddy ricch couldn’t even do 70k. They gone tear that poor girl to shreds. Especially if she win that Grammy😭😭
@@wasabi.2839 I just don't think she really wants it though. Every performance feels like a joke.... I'm like who let her get on stage and give this to us. It's so embarrassing. I cringe every time but mama is gorgeous 😔🤷🏽♀️
Cupcakke is a beautiful dark skinned woman who I ALWAYS love watching her live performances. She doesn't do any complicated stuff, but you know she loves what she does and the crowd is always in the moment with her. She blew up and faded away. I don't get anything from Saweetie's performances, no vibes at all. It just feels so bizarre that she's so big when she lacks such presence. There are way more deserving artists who should get our attention, like Cupcakke.
That's called stage presence. If u have that u don't need dancers, choreo, or anything. Some rappers w stage presence like Megan n doja just add choreo to enhance the performance bc they can handle it. Saweetie doesn't have stage presence or dancing ability so it all looks terrible. She needs to just focus on that n cut the dancing.
I actually watched some of her vlogs - like cooking with her mom. I loved it! She’s also doing this program at her alma mater and that was entertaining too. I would love to see her as an influencer or have a reality show. She got a great personality and seems genuine. And I loved that she went to usc. She could’ve changed the way media presented rappers, especially female rappers.
Shout out to Zack for keeping it real. There is such a color complex surrounding black people in the industry. Its becoming exhausting how the industry prefers using light skinned or biracial women to represent ALL black women in r/nb or rap music. The industry seemingly selects light skinned black female artist in a hidden attempt to support white supremacy. Is this a reach? Im not saying this to be right but to start the conversation. This is no shade towards Saweetie or any other light skinned or biracial girl. Hell, i am light skinned. You have to admit there is an apparent preference of black skin tones in the Industry.
I get second hand embarrassment watching sis. She isn't taking this opportunity serious in many ppl eyes, and so many other ppl have this dream and she is squandering it.. smh
When she first came out I thought she’d be the bougie college girl the boys wanted but couldn’t have and then her content turned into the same content everyone else has but they do better. It got more sexual and the relationships she rapped about started to sound transactional and that shift made her just like everyone else.
Exactly! You said it perfectly...it just seems like her lyrics now are pretty much just a watered down version of what somebody else already said but said it better, it’s too predictable, and that makes it uninteresting. I wonder if it’s her labels fault or hers...trying to bank on something that “works”. But it’s not working anymore.
No foreal. She has a lot more she can rap about. For goodness sakes she went to USC. People will be more interested in her as a rapper just based off of that fact alone. People want to know who is this smart pretty girl. She really could/should have rode off of that alone.
I think the most annoying thing is that he fact that she gets such a big push in the industry because she lightskin. Most mainstream lightskin woman are starting to do the bare minimum so I have been trying to find some underground black artist and there are so many that are so good and don't get the same push because there darkskin. It's so sad that even in our own black communities we have so much colourist people who will deny these woman's talent because of the colour of their skin. SMH the only mainstream artist putting in the work is doja tbh.
I think Saweetie is really likeable but her and her team need to come together and figure out what works best for her and play to her strengths more . Her music was also a lot better when she first came out a few years ago than what she’s currently been releasing .
Pretty privilege is 100% the thing going for Saweetie and that's no shade just facts. All of Saweetie's music is about being pretty and getting dudes with a bag, and she getting that "push" still because of how she looks. The only dark skin women who get talked about in the industry now are Megan, SZA, Ari Lennox, and sometimes Normani, and i agree with what you said let there have been those types of mistakes with any of the women I just named or any other dark skinned female in the hip hop/R&B game, those problems would talked about bit by bit nearly every time they perform. Let's face it Saweetie is where she is because the look is great for marketing, but when it comes to music it's just not for her.
The thing that blows me the most about saweetie is the lack of integrity, anything for a check vibe she gives off . I don’t understand how she continues this journey knowing that she is not meant for it . It’s giving “ I’m miserable and stuck in a contract so let me half ass till I’m out “
Saweetie can’t rap, she’s a pretty girl who just gets a pass with whatever she puts out. The only song I like from her is Best friend with Doja, that’s her only good song. Her personally is dope as hell but rapping is not her thing
You always real talk the Black community which I appreciate. A lot of Black creators are scared to speak on it but if we never say anything about these issues such as colorism, nothing will change
Mariah the scientist is another good example. And her being a “new artist” isn’t really a good excuse to me. Because why are they signing anyone who performs like that on stage? What happened to real TALENT?
not to seem predictable, but i do see her performances improving over time. and mariah is talented. yes, she needs to perform better live but her songs are great and she seems to have a strong fanbase already.
It’s not even pretty privilege for me, I used to be a big saweetie fan, but the proof is in the pudding for me! She should’ve stayed in her original lane, this new management needs to be fired bc it turned left quick! It’s not just a colorism thing (although I can see your point bc she won’t get cancelled bc ppl like to look at her. If someone is easy on the eyes, but sounds horrible ppl still won’t cancel them smh) but after seeing her on SNL& Jingle Ball the proof is there. You also have a good point about her relationship, bc she did advertise that A LOT! Idk what’s going on with her but she needs to correct it QUICK bc ppl are turning 😐
Yup, I 100% agree with this. I love her and get old stuff was waaay better. I am really worried her, she needs to take a break and go back to the drawing board as to to aint it. Something is off and if she releases a trash album, she might not recover
@@breepandora yeah especially after she recently cut all of her hair off, that made me a little worried. I mean she has the right to start fresh & do whatever she wants to her hair. It just really caught me off guard😕
Listen 1. I thought your explanation on why Saweetie was under performing was very interesting . I wouldn't doubt that she's doing it intentionally to keep her name alive . But I think that even if it is intentional , I don't believe that it's favorable . Yes publicity is publicity but reputation is respect . If you keep on with random money grab stunts , people tend to take you less serious . Eventually this makes you lose your following. It's happened to many people. 2. I totally forgot Saweetie was releasing an album . That's terrible ... I'm probably no different than anyone else. At this point , I'm more than sure her team won't be endorsing any album if she doesn't do something to redirect her career . She desperately needs to put out like 3 good songs to make this album buyable. Because the girls are not impressed . 3. You definitely made a valid point , alot of famous people don't even care anymore about their brands integrity . They simply do whatever whenever for a check . Which I think is the reason why our music has dropped in quality over the years . No one's doing it for the art anymore. It's money driven . 4. Colorism is very much a thing and it's not just in the business . It's life in America . We're all affected by it . So yes I believe it . 5. Lastly and MOST IMPORTANTLY ‼️⚠️ GIRL YOU DID NOT LIE LMAO like I said I thought nobody was gonna say it . Saweetie has been doin alotta side eye cornballish shit 🙄🙄😒😒. That Lil baby thing was so extra 😂 and I definitely noticed her decline ever since her split with Quavo . Cause mamas used to really be that girl but after that relationship was done she just flat lined 😐
It’s really just all facts. I’m tired of people giving her grace. It’s okay to be bad at something and the sooner she gets that, the better her brand will get
It’s a shame that this is the road Saweetie is going down because I really like her personality and I want better for her but she has to want that for herself. As for listening to her album, I’ll definitely check it out to see what it’s giving when she does release it but idk...
You bringing up Normani honestly made me think about how stalled/stifled she must feel. She’s watching girls like Saweetie get a grammy nomination for a bunch of nothing, while she knows that people have been waiting for her “introduction”. BUT IF she was to drop the ball on ANYTHING just once (the single, the promo, the visuals, the performances, etc.) it will be 1000xs more scrutinized & more damaging to her career than Saweetie will EVER experience. She knows her own potential and has big aspirations, but she already did the girl group grind of promotion singles she didn’t care about next to non-dark skinned women who were all prioritized/favored over her from jumpstreet. 🥴 like damn
I just want her to focus on what she’s good at! She has all of the qualities do well in everything besides rap… don’t get me wrong. My baby has some hits. I even like a few of the more unknown saweetie records. I just don’t want her to push the rap as the main entrée because when you compare her to the other girls in that field it’s not adding up.
Why compare her at all??? That’s the continuous mistake y’all make. What happened to “stop comparing Blk women/women?,” only when it’s convenient it seems bc when it’s to add to the hate train somebody’s enduring y’all will compare. She been pushing the rap as the main entree and it’s been fillin her damn pockets like, are you bearing witness to how her careers flourished? Why tf would she have to “stop pushing rap,” smthing she both enjoys doing while it makes her bank, all bc while “compared to other girls in that field, it’s not adding up?” Your comparison doesn’t seem to be her issue, it’s yours. You doin what ppl do to Blk women all the time, speaking as though there can only be one / not enough space for multiple to prosper. It’s giving misogyny and a bit of misery tbh to want someone to cut something off that they’re passionate about and enjoy when it’s clearly working for them. Her branding, marketing online etc is built around her music and it’s messaging, she’s smart for doing it the way she has bc how many partnerships has she garnered bc of it? She IS focused on what she’s good at..leveraging her “pretty privilege,” fashion, branding / marketing skills to her benefit while doing music. And if she were as wack as y’all are making her out to be, why is she always booked and busy? Think BIGGER. She is a BUSINESSWOMAN / entertainer. Point blank period. She don’t have to strive to be the damn Beyoncé of rap and neither do the City Girlz 🙄
I feel like Saweetie rode the pretty train as far as she could take it honestly. She's aware of how vain the industry is and she made money off that. She knows somebody who looks like her doesn't need talent to go places and places she went.
Overall the black community is sick and tired of big labels pushing light skin women. We already have Mariah, Mya, Beyoncé, Rihanna and Nicki. We want Kelly Rowland, Normani’s, Seyvn Streeter, Ryan Destiny and Victoria Monet. Chocolate women have the most talent but are the most overlooked. We tide!!
You’re probably tired of hearing abt her all the time from these obsessive social media users who are determined to dissect every performance and or career move. She’s minding her business doin her thing..if you’re “tired of her” for doing that despite the fact that you “really like her,” then the issue seems to lie within you bc it ain’t making sense. Funny how “support women” and “support Blk women” flies out the window when it’s convenient for y’all 🤷🏾♀️
@@SupernaturalLove100 girl be quiet, u sound ridiculous. the og commenter said nothing wrong and u are grasping at straws to defend something that shouldn’t be defended, she isn’t a good performer end of story.
The reason people arent taking saweetie seriously is because when she came into the rap game with "icy girl " she had a boujiee hood grown woman persona now she just makes raps that target teenage suborn girls which is why she is mainly placed on only pop songs. People think she's not good enough to be labeled a pop artist or and she doesnt have enough "bars to be considered a hip-hop rap artist.
I will always love her and I can see that she is going through something I feel sad for her and a little worried for her I think she should take a Break from everything and try to get to herself I feel like she lost her trueself in doing what other people say and think what she should be doing but I hope that things can be turn around for her 💖💖💖
I love the shirt. There's nothing wrong with "pretty " opening doors for you, but you have to know what to do when you're in that room. It's such a waste to have an advantage and still not get anywhere.
I like Saweetie's personality and enjoy some of her singles truly. But so many people are right when they said that she should actually focus in her craft if she wants to be respected as an artist. For example Doja rehearsed till exhaustion and only posted on Instagram for paid ads for months. We don't really see that from Saweetie. I love what she's doing in RU-vid tho, she's an amazing interviewer and the camera loves her. She's great at doing the "extra" musician things like interviews, photoshoots and music videos but not at the core of actually performing and putting out great music. Also I believe there is no hate train against her, if you go to the comments a lot of people don't drag her character, just her skill and many others do objetive criticism. That's it.
I don't think hate train is the right phrase but ppl r getting more comfortable just expecting something to make fun of and she usually does. The comments really aren't saying her career is done but still giving genuine advice for improvement at this point.
Well in my opinion, I think Saweetie realized that she doesn't love let alone like making music anymore. I think with the fame she now has she would just rather pursue the new opurtunities that she now has ever since she came up then get in the studio and take the time to make good quality music. Female artist's like Meghan, Doja Cat and Latto actually LOVE making music and they show us that on stage and I just don't get that from her. So maybe that's why she truly no longer gives a f*ck what she sounds like or does(n't) put out as long as she gets her check so she can keep living her lifestyle and doing everything else but working on her craft. As for Mariah The Scientist, Summer Walker, SZA and Normani are dark-skinned black woman that have been dragged and dogged for not singing well live and they all took their time to work on their craft to have better live vocals when performing and that's what I think Mariah has to do in her case because unlike Saweetie she actually makes really great quality music she just doesn't know how to perform it yet but her being pretty and lightskinned has/is and will help her career take off and stay running while she hopefully takes the time to work on he live vocals, which is how it usually is in the music industry for men and ESPECIALLY woman.
Imma keep saying this: Saweetie needs to go back to the old Icy Girl aesthetic, during the “Icy Girl”, “Focus” and “My Type” era. It was so authentic and it came so naturally to her. Idk who is trying to push her in this direction, but after “Best Friend”, it’s just snowballed into a mess. And I know she’s working on improving her performances, but she’s gotta keep working towards it because it’s just not there yet. I’m rooting for you Saweetie! But we gotta drop songs like “Icy Chain” and their corresponding performances, please girl please!
I'm glad that you mentioned Mariah The Scientist as well. Beautiful lyrics, studio voice is incredible...but the live performances? A dark skin singer could NEVER get away with that...they'd DRAG her
I saw everything going on but honestly didn't even know she had released a single, and now I'm wondering if I will check out her album (which I normally wouldn't, no shade whatsoever) because I'm thinking maybe she is doing it on purpose and will have serious talent. It just seems like it's getting worse and worse for her, and I hate to attach the 'you have to have a man to be successful' but speaking for myself, I think I am realising that I was only seeing her for her relationship. I loved the My Type remix for the other girls, and Best Friend for Doja. Even another song for Quavo's verses. I don't want to tell people to give up their dreams but she should try to get back to her prime days or seriously do what she's best at. OR seriously seriously seriously hire a new team and go through wayyy more planning, change her diet, work out and rap? Cause her performance.
Not Zach beginning the video singing FAST MOTION! 😂🤣 “🗣Im hittin nat hittin nat GAS! Im hittin nat hittin nat A$$! MY Body!” Now I have to go back and watch the Fast Motion Bop or Flop😭
I actually like Saweetie as a personality but her music sucks also none of her music has charted aside from "Best Friend" yet ole girl is getting all this industry push?🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 I been saying Saweetie would do better in TV and movies or even as a RU-vid influencer I don't see her lasting 5 years in music
RU-vid isn’t what it was 5 years ago. That’s why all your favourite youtubers are on patreon or even on twitch or tik tok and pursuing other things. The money isn’t there unless you cater to kids since it’s advertiser friendly.
But it’s making her BANK right now, ain’t it? What y’all don’t seem to understand or WANT to understand is that her BRAND is practically built around her music and it’s “pretty bitch” “icy girl” messaging. Why would she voluntarily stop doing what folks are clearly paying attention to that’s fillin her pockets? Obviously she doesn’t seem to care what y’all say when she has a fan base that’s loud in their support for her releases. She doesn’t need to cut off music when she enjoys it to strictly become an influencer to appease y’all. The obsession is getting very weird. Many are entitled and or miserable telling others what to do w their lives when what they’ve done has garnered them massive success. “Support Blk women” only when it’s convenient. It’s beginning to sound like underlying resentment or something 🥴🤦🏾♀️
@@SupernaturalLove100 ? Who is obsessed with Saweetie? I'm confused? Saweetie is about her bag and growing her business. She like we all know , music doesn’t pay anymore, only when they’re on tour and pandemic showed us that. Also, we as consumers make the artist, we choose to stream and buy and not support others.
She showed an improvement during SNL. I love her but, you know, she's rich and she has the money and the resources to find a dance teacher and someone who could teach her how to rap properly LIVE.
Just today I saw a video about people asking if she we going through something, or saying she was just looking for attention because she cut her hair off. She cut her hair and people were talking bad about her. 😳 I don't like the thought of your detractors or haters winning, but maybe she needs to sit down for a bit. Really think about if she wants to continue doing music. If she does, she needs to take it way more seriously. Or use her looks and business acumen, and build a brand in a different lane. I definitely don't subscribe to the notion that any publicity is good publicity. It's not, but it feels like, as of late, she's thinking that. Yes, colorism and pretty privilege are things, but they can only get you so far. I think she's seeing that. Doja and Cardi are hugely popular, and no doubt being mixed, light skin and/or pretty was very advantageous, but Doja has real talent to back her up. Cardi has talents in her own right; the biggest being her personality. Cardi could never rap again, and do reality tv, guest appearances in movies, a talk show, whatever. I'd be here for it. Saweetie bring pretty but a mediocre rapper with lackluster performances is just not cutting it.
I think her album will drop. As a consumer of curiosity and her genuine likeability I’ll definitely purchase. I love her, she’s her own person. She could improve but who couldn’t. I pray that she finds that light this year because she is talented, and unique but she’s gotta get better in seat people to help guide her. It’s definitely not too late.
Even though they’re in different spectrums in the industry. Saweetie needs to pull a Madison beer and prove its not just pretty privilege. Prove your debut is worth being made
If Doja was a dark-skinned black woman, she wouldn’t get the shine she’s getting, either. In fact, I think it’s very interesting how many of us black folk have forgiven Doja for her dabble with white supremacists. Cardi B, too. I like her a lot, but let’s get real-she’s not a good rapper and she’s mediocre. If she were dark-skinned, I really do not believe that she would be taken seriously at all. She would be treated as ‘ghetto’ and ‘corny’.
The Dona situation with “white supremacists” was confirmed fake by the person who exposed it. He was salty he didn’t get nudes from Doja and made it up
I definitely think she’s better on other peoples songs than her own. Which is weird because why don’t you go that hard on your own s*????She’s weird idk she’s too calculated but then her music isn’t calculated and her performances aren’t calculated and it’s like huh??? Then I think about her degree in communications and she’s educated her marketing is on point. Her raps before she got famous was good. And now it’s like maybe she in the wrong lane…… idk after quavo she definitely dropped dramatically. Like when they first broke up I was like tuh. That girl good she gone go harder because of it. But now iddddkkkk.
@@atl.111 I know but I find it odd like she had the same amount of talent when she was with him. Why everyone just drop her like a bad habit and why is she not trying to do any better.
I didn't know who Sweetie was until she started dating Quavo. She is a pretty girl but to get through this music industry she has to be on point with everything she do. I think the time that she had with Quavo he should’ve been teaching her or schooling her how to rap better how to become a better performer a better rapper. Everyone know that the music industry especially the rap industry is predominantly run by males. She should’ve been taking notes and asking him what can she do better or how she can do better it’s all good that you represent your area the bay area but you have to be on point. I think her camp representation needs to be revamp. She can definitely get there but she have to put in the work and stop looking all pretty.
In 2022 I expect saweetie to go on hiatus and distance herself from any distractions outside of her music and artistry. I’m really rooting for her and hoping that she cleans up her performance and experiments more with her music and sound. I mean that’s what I would expect from a Grammy nominated artist.
i feel like if she went on a hiatus many people will forget about her which is probably why she hasn’t done it yet. saweetie isn’t rlly big enough to go on a hiatus & stay relevant throughout.
The bar is in hell. We gotta remember that we came up with a lot of seasoned (sometimes abused) child stars and nepotist artists whose parent(s) were great artists. They’re passed away or not putting out consistent albums and we’ve come to accept mediocre artists who are not trained performers or real artists. It’s about a check especially in rap. And I say the bar is in hell because if you critique music you’re a hater and the artist is “in they bag”. Like what that got to do with this steaming pile of shit that I’m hearing? I loved saweetie years ago but she’s not trying so why should I? Stop it.
Part of that is bc artist development is basically dead in major record companies streaming made labels cut their budgets and artists development was one of them, my family member works in the industry and told me so.
I think she did great on her EMA performance. She should keep it like that, just with the minimal dancing, and just really commanding the stage. Her stage presence is so much better in that one compared to her performance flops lately. She needs to keep doing what that was.
Honestly I think Sweetie was a new artist that shot up faster than she could acclimate to. Everything has just been stagnant with her career, like she was on pause when she got with Quavo. It seems she just hasn’t grown as an artist or taken it seriously and compared to her peers like Doja and Normani, forgetting lyrics on stage while giving limited mobility choreography is just not gonna cut it. With the position and access she has in the industry more is expected. No work was being done on the craft and being pretty can’t keep an audience captivated. I have hope tho🤞🏾
I would like the same people that had given this talentless “performer” opportunities to give people like Normani, VanJess and more the same opportunity. These light skin girls are giving nothing in music and performance and I hate that we’re being forced to accept that ish! Doja must be one of the few exceptions. At this point we want to see real talent at these shows and stages.
Speaking on people clowning on Mariah the scientist talent and stage presence it’s bc she’s done interviews talking about how these new school black male/female R&B artists are basic and aren’t bringing anything new while promoting herself up like she’s a groundbreaking, innovative artist, I’m pretty sure if she didn’t bring that old soul pretentious superiority complex attitude towards her peers and put herself on a unrealistic pedestal she wouldn’t have gotten the backlash more she kinda brought that on herself
I've definitely seen this shift and it started when she broke up with Quavo. Unfortunately, the public is ALOT harder on women than men. We don't know exactly why they broke up (she stated cheating but only those two know the real) but I noticed when she was with him the media loved her. She is so pretty, she is Birken Queen, She is so funny, she is so unproblematic, etc. Her music didn't change from then to now. Her pretty privilege didn't change from then to now. So what changed other than her relationship status? If she sits next to a dude (Roddy-she a hoe), she goes shopping with a dude (lil baby- she a gold digger), she dances (her butt don't move), she takes a picture (she so fake), she performs (omg she sucks). However, when its a man who breaks up with a girl no matter the reason he doesn't suffer the same harshness. I agree she needs to improve but out of everything I think the media and industry is so fickle. One day they love you and the next you're washed up and discarded. I don't like how hard they are on women when we have a ton of lackluster, good for nothing millionaire men in this industry that couldn't rap themselves out of a paperbag.
YES!!!!!!! SAY IT LOUDER, now it's HER doing it on purpose... GIRL COME ON NOW... people love to put words in other peoples mouths, I really don't get the hate train, she is a developing artist, she's pushing herself and for me that's what matters the most because she is trying, she doesn't even need to dance if we are being honest, but she's pushing herself and people are so hard on her, meanwhile SOME men stand on the stage and do absolutely nothing and sometimes not even delivering something acceptable really... it is what it is, but because they are men they are hold to a so much lower standard and get away with it. I listened to Saweetie's old music, she became famous spitting bars in her car so I don't really get when people say she don't write her music, she can't rap... GIRL... it's giving I just wanna hate on you just because (not talking about ZACH at all, talking about saweetie haters in general) Some of saweeties old music: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-96w2ZLW36_E.html&ab_channel=LITTYCOMMITTEE Give people a damn break. Oh and btw I love Zach but I'm not with him on this one, I have to keep it real.
Mariah music ?! FIRE each and every song like she was giving lyrics and creativity but the performances 😬 I was shocked because the vocals on the track not matching at all and that is a prime example of colorism. Saweetie needs to go back to 2016-2017 Saweetie she needs to get hungry cause she has the talent. Like girl that performance was RIDICULOUS
From 2018- now, Saweetie has been through a lot career wise. I remember your video of new rap girls that we should listen to and she was on the list and you raved about how much energy she had and how she had so much potential. I still see it with everything she’s done. I don’t think it’s that saweetie can’t dance I think it’s the choreo because she was a dancer in college fyi. Her old music was definitely her prime and I honestly wished she would’ve stayed with that boujee, chill, vibe that she came in the game with. I really hope she gets it together next year and proves everyone wrong.
Saweetie had a lane when she first started out with her icy girl song! It was like that pretty bougie girl gonna work hard to buy her designer and vacay and live life! Thats what i got from her in the beginning and i loved it! It was NEW compared to the other artist! She should have stayed in that lane and kept it going! Stay out of “public relationships”! seem untouchable like none of these dudes could even approach her!
@@animefan5986 Lies!! Megan will out rap and out freestyle Doja on spot in a minute!! Doja is a better overall artist and make better songs only because of versatility. As for just rapping…she not seeing Megan!! I mean just look up their freestyles and you see who’s better.
