So.................if a tree has been shot, does that make it "dead wood"? If a dog pees on a tree, does that make it "dog wood"? Do no listen to the "haters". It is your mill and you can do what you want. It is always good to see you!!!!
hey mark love the videos i find them very soothing i ust to work in a lumber mill so i know how long it takes to cut a log keep making good videos and i love the stop sign that you do on the logs keep up the good work. Sean from beaver county pa
I really enjoy watching you and T.H.E. Eddie Horvath cutting logs. I am retired/disabled so I can spend endless hours watching you guys cut! Thanks guys!

That's some beautiful wood it would be furniture not made into sticks nice and clear i miss being around my grandpa's mill's his mills you actually had to turn the log's not have a rotator but that was in the 60's and mid 70's
Thanks for the video Mark, suggestion time 😮 Might pay to have a good magnet 🧲 hanging in the cab to check the kant for signs of metal once you see that stain. Also rules out any lead.
It always confuses me as to why people insist on complaining about the sh*t they get for free. If they don’t like the camera angles or the “boom”, they should go buy their own damned mill and make their own RU-vid channel. In the meantime, shut up and say thanks to those who are doing work. Thanks Mark and Eddie for the great videos. It’s like being back in PA every time I watch y’all.
I will report you for being hostile. if you can't communicate in a reasonable manner maybe you should go somewhere else. grass is green waters wet the sky is blue and people have opinions on RU-vid 💥💥
Nothing is free I pay $60 a month for the internet and it cost me eighty bucks for the tablet I watch it on 365 for the TV I watch on occasionally what's free. he gets paid for making his video
I like watching you guys cut logs so I’m gonna give you guys some good advice and it’s coming from experience 4 generations of timber fallers to be exact. Do not buy or use an electric chainsaw they are not as reliable or efficient as a gas chainsaw. If you want a yard saw or landing saw I recommend using a sthil ms 391 it has plenty of power for larger logs and you can swap to a shorter bar for trimming unfinished mill cuts. It’s a saw that my grandfather had for landing saws they served the purpose quite well they where not used much for falling but for bucking and knot bumping they worked perfectly fine and they can be used to fall trees as well and they do that just fine for occasional falling. For a lighter saw I recommend a sthil ms 180 or a size or two larger it’s smaller shorter bar would work fine for trimming unfinished mill cuts. Again this comes from experience. I have tried one time an electric saw and it wasn’t worth a crap no power bound up constantly even with additional oil ran along the bar and a very sharp chain. It went right back to the same shop I bought it from and I got a gas powered saw that works reliably all the time fast cutting no binding plenty of power and no problems. So in my opinion electric saws are junk and not worth a shit .as for my family’s logging experience it’s extensive going back to the 30s my great grandfather fell timber using an axe and a 2 man handsaw and all trees where climbed and toped logs where brought up the American river canyon by steam donkey or across the American river canyon by cable car then sent by rail to Michigan cal lumber mill later my grandfather started falling timber then later partnered up with 4 others and ran their company later he eventually ran his own company H&H timber in Eldorado county California they both then taught my father who later taught me and my cousin. So we know what we are talking about when it comes to good saws and saws that are completely worthless and junk. As far as finding metal we have found lots everything from fence posts to bullets even a t post a cedar grew around gramps went through 6 chains before he got above it and was able to fall the tree. Later he tore the stump apart to see what he hit and it was a t post put in some 30 or 40 years ago. Dad found modern steel arrow heads from hunters and old musket balls from the gold rush days shot into trees and even stone arrowheads from 400 years ago In a 8 foot across Douglas fir and they were right in the center of the tree they had to have been shot into the tree when it was no more than 6 inches across.
yeah, you need to make sure there are no objects in those logs. I have a pecan tree near my house that I know has a tire iron and a chalk line box that was left in the vee before it grew over then.
Overall, that looked like a premium set of log. Very clear looking, maybe capable of cutting into some really fine pieces of lumber. Did you really need something that good for 1 x 1's and 1 x 3's for this application ?
I’m with Gary on the quality of the log. You say short log? So under 8’? You’ve sawn less quality logs that didn’t have knots per se but did have other defects that poor quality because of it. I guess I don’t know where or how you’re selling the lumber you cut, but there are plenty of custom mills that will cut short logs as you put it. Most wood workers don’t need 8’+ material anyways.
I had no problem with the dog cam! Stay away from the Bauer cordless saw. I bought one, and it's one of the very few Harbor Freight products I didn't like.
Oh the communication device that I suggested there very expensive I guess they're also used for communicating on a motorcycle Sene SMH-10. the spike tree climbers wear them even at Walmart they're two hundred bucks for one person
