Nobody really has a big interest in veneer cherry, and we sawed some live edge slabs a few weeks ago, so we decided to make this log into 5/4" X 5" boards. Thank you for watching!
I think when you are trying to decide on the size of board to cut you have to guess what people are going to use it for. In my younger years I used to make furniture as a hobby. If I was going to use that cherry I would have wanted it all at 4/4 with widths of probably 6, 8 and 12 inches. I would plane it down to about a true 3/4. Just a thought.
thanks Ed! I stay away from boards wider than 6". It seems like they cup so much then what starts as 6/4 ends up as 1/4!!! take care and thank you. Wayne
Your problem was your bottom cant you didn't cut the piece off the end you could see the top cant was twisted, if you had pulled your top cant six inches ahead you would've been alright or just one cant at a time.
