for those who don't know what this song is about,... "Houston control,...the eagle has landed.." the first words transmitted from the Apollo lunar lander when they touched down on the moon in 1969. maybe some of you were not alive then. Its a tribute to the huge clanking metal balls those astronauts have,.. to get on a rocket and blast off to the moon in a tin can with less computing power than a '99 toyota. crazy bastards for sure, and a fitting tribute from a classic band.
that's funny'' yeah no shit'' in a fucking giant bomb literally tin can'', wow'', they had no clue what was gonna happen let alone if they were even gonna make it back if they got up there.
What he actually said was “Houston, Tranquility base here, the Eagle has landed” You can download the entire Apollo radio transmissions. Only 40 hours of chit chat.
I saw this tour . They opened for iron maiden. Both bands killed IT. SAXON is soooooo badass. Love this SONG. And the guitar work. SAXON 4 life 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I saw this concert in Copenhagen, think it was februari '83. When this song started was a moment in my life I'll never forget. ( The album "Eagle has landed" was released soon after, so I had never heard it before). MAGIC!
To me this kept me going through the morass of 80s crap. Saxon together with Rory Gallagher sustained me through dire period of dead end jobs, Margaret Thatcher and fake ambition. Thanks Saxon.
why americans are the greatest country that will ever be '' because we had the balls to do shit nobody else would attempt'' fuck we had to fight just to get here and stay and have been achieving shit nobody else has since'' yeah these dudes jammed I seen them when this tune came out I was 16 and had a brooks leather ,fry boots and red tag levis on at the concert a ounce a redbud and was tripping on 6 hits of orange sunshine'' wow'' and drinking jack you had to drink on acid . love these dudes ''
What is the Judas Priest song that sounds identical to what Saxon produce at 2 min 20 sec? It's an early track - maybe - the lyrics were something like 'evil woman don't you know you are driving me insane - was it the Green Manelisha track? Saxon were incredibly good at fusing stories with their own version of anthemic metal but this riff is borrowed i am sure.
when they went you could see the ship with a telescope and it was a trip anyways '', my dude steve agosto'' , crazy steve had some kickass equipment even back then that it was like you were right fucking there'' no shit'' you would pull your head back at 1st '' cause it would kinda freak you out a little bit'' looking at it and if they didn't go ''? then tell me who the fuck did we watch then ? assholes''
2:12 Paul Quinn guitar reminds me of Dave Gilmour in the 1986-1990 period like Knebworth 1990 sound. This is kind of an epic song. I had _The Eagle Has Landed_ live album in 1982/83 and never heard the actual track of the same name until about a week ago in 2016!
Well better late than never, right? Yeah, the actual song didn't come out until their following studio album 'Power & The Glory' in 1983. It's funny when bands do that, naming a song that would essentially be the title track to an album later on, on a different album! Or vice versa, when they name an album the same as a song from a previous album. Although I don't think that either of those happens very often...
"OK dad, concerts over now, mom wants you inside! Ohhh noo son, I'm not yet through performing inside the garage! Sorry dad but mom needs you inside to repair the fridge again, it's of the fritz! NOW!!! DAM!!!!" LMAO!!!!!!
Quel groupe! Belle époque de la NWOBHM...Des sérieux rivaux à Iron Maiden, Judas Priest , Def Leppard au début des années'80, le tout s'est effondré à l'album ''Innnocent is No excuse'' avec un changement de cap plus commercial malheureusement.
I'm getting old! I was at this concert! I can tell you, when that eagle lit up you could literally feel the heat of the bulbs. Must have been hell for the band.
Saxon! Such a great band. First saw them when I was 17 (1981) and saw them a few years back with UFO (another great band!) I may be fucking old, but I saw ALL the bands! I still listen to Saxon- one of my favorite metals bands ever.
Omg. I never thought Ide see this again! Damnit RU-vid is fuckin great. The 80s was so incredible for metal. Hot chicks, lsd, and Saxon. What a night this was!
Along with Thin Lizzy's Thunder and Lightning and Wishbone Ash's Twin Barrels Burning, this is what got the callow youth that was me into hard rock/metal in the early eighties.
Awesome. That and many of their other songs. I saw them In Kaiserslautern and years later in El paso Texas. They blew any chance of "Triumph" having a good showing in El Paso. I was there to see Triumph. hehehe.
4/5 of the original line up with Steve Dawson and Graham Oliver. The real Saxon.Great Band. GREAT Line Up. AMAZING Song. I love it. And the shining Eagle.Glorious Times.Saxon are Legends
In ‘84 I was 10yo and my brother 15. He went to see them and told me about it. I’d never been to a concert at that time and he painted me such a great picture of what he saw that I was mesmerized. Many many years later, watching this video, it looks exactly like he described it. ❤
Anyone remember a time long ago when pulling up to your high school with your best buds in the car and your stereo as loud as it would go jamming THE EAGLE HAS LANDED....... It still fucking rocks!!!!!!
I was in the 8th grade in 1983 and me and all the guys from the neighborhood bought tickets to see Iron Maiden live at the Hemisfair Arena in San Antonio, Texas. It was Iron Maiden, Saxon, and Fastway. It was my first time watching all 3 bands live. The only thing that really makes me very sad is that before the show we all took a hit of acid and smoked a bag of weed and I don’t remember a fucking thing
1st concert ever for me with Accept at the San Jose Civic in Fall of 1984. After seeing Accept live, I was floored and thought nobody could ever do better. Then Saxon came on and proved me wrong!
@madcapper6 the whistling is from Motorcycle Man and it's still loud performed live today .. in fact Biff could throw the mic away and you would still hear him at the back
