Hi there! Please know that our original ScoopFree® Litter Boxes were designed for use with our Crystal Litter only and were not designed for use with clumping litter. Use of clumping litter can damage those other ScoopFree® Litter Boxes and we do not recommend or advise using clumping litter with those boxes. The new ScoopFree® Clumping was designed with clumping litter cat parents in mind and is compatible with most litter types!

Just curious, what do you use with original? I find that Sustainably Yours works well enough except for the small buildup on the side where the rake starts/stops when the waste area gets full and occasional clumping stuck on PetSafe's reusable plastic tray when the litter level gets low. I feel like the scoop free system using with clumping litter doesn't eliminate scooping but instead significantly decreases the amount of time sifting through the box for clumps by pushing the clumps to gather in specific locations, leaving most of the litter box pretty much fresh for cats to use.

It looks very small for an average cat. The actual litter area appears small.

Does this work for wood pellets litter?

Thanks for asking about this! This box would not be compatible with pellet litter; it is compatible with any clumping or crystal litter.

The best litter boxes for wood pellet litter (the type that breaks down into dust when wet) is a sifting litter box or the TidyCats breeze system. Lining the underlaying dust collection tray with a puppy pad and maybe sprinkling charcoal on the new pads is highly recommended for odor control. You will always have to dig around to scoop the #2s though; there's no way around that for non-clumping pellet litter.
