As a trucker who drives regionally, I have had t-Mobile Wi-Fi in my truck and it has never let me down. The only thing that they don’t tell you is that you do need to go home and turn that thing on at your residence once every 30 days. If you don’t do that, they will cancel that account permanently. So since I’m home every weekend, this little cylinder works like a charm at home as well as on the road. If it notices that you’re out of range, simply tap on the “ I’m here temporarily” icon, and it will switch to whatever local stations are in that area if you’re using RU-vid TV or whatever. But make sure you take it home and turn it on at least once every 30 days.

Good luck with Connecten. It seems pretty good. My only problem with it is you need to be in a strong cell tower area. As a boondocker, I chose a different route. My RV came with a Winegard 360 4G antenna on the roof. That runs to a Gateway router. You can use various SIM cards/data plans. I chose Verizon’s 150 GB/month plan at $110/month. Works fantastic, deep in the forest or desert where wireless signals are weak. As the Wingard 360 boosts the cell signal.

I was a new T-Mobile customer and yet was only offered one tier of service which was unlimited for $50 per month but also got it discounted to $45 for autopay. I sure hope they saw that what you’re talking about was a terrible idea and went back and that’s why I got the good deal that I can travel with. I’m going to be pissed if the price goes up and it stops working on the road. Thanks for the vid!

Part of me would love to take credit for a reversal of this decision, but I doubt little me could impact a juggernaut corporation like T-Mobile. There are a number of people that commented they cancelled the service because of this change. If several thousand cancelled, that might have been the message they needed. But my understanding is that there were some kinks in their plan and it's postponed until the kinks can be sorted out. I appreciate your comment, have a blessed week.

It allows you to use the full speed of your unlimited cell service and share it with your PC. You can use the free version or you can pay like 15 bucks one time and fully unlock it for life. On a good connection I can get 100 plus mbps, and I average around 40 to 50 mbps. Absolutely free. And it's a shame cause if one of these companies offered a better connection at a decent price for truckers or Rv people....I would easily pay it. I can tell you that most 4G Routers have a diagnostic/Maintenance section in their menu. Disabling that is key. From there you are free to use any SIM card available that supports 4G. Many other settings need to be adjusted like ipv4, disabling ipv6 and change certain DNS servers to Google. Some setting need to be on manual and not Auto. Some European 4G Routers have 4 fixed LAN outputs and two separate Wi-Fi names you can set up. ZYXEL made really nice cheap 4G routers (12v) setting you back only $50 / In regards to speed - it will be not as fast as 600 Mbps but at least 60 Mbps up and down (Equal if the SIM Card supports it). I moved a few times and the router just moves with ya like a cellphone does. Plug and Play.

Well, in this case, the Sim card is the cell phone Wi-Fi data being used, just transferred through the router, to be used on, say, your laptop or a tablet even? At least in terms your tablet or device can now connect to that form of wifi, meant for the cell phone? I think I kind of understand, but not really... 😵‍💫

I was thinking about getting it anyway, so when they offered me a $100 gift card, I went for it and signed up. The girl that signed me up and did the paperwork told me, "You can use this like a big hotspot. Just unplug it when you travel, put it in your suitcase and you'll have internet wherever you go." Later, while reading the paperwork, it said you can only use it at the home address registered. Anyway, I don't know if it works on the road because I didn't test her claim, but now I'm curious if it does work like she said (why wouldn't it travel with you like a portable hotspot?) or was she just telling anything I might want to hear to make a sale?

The only reason they worked is because they used to not enforce the geo fence. They also used to enter a qualifying address just to be able to sell it to anyone. These devices use a massive amount of bandwidth. If too many people have it in the tower area then everyone's service will be bogged down. The infrastructure can't handle everyone using it yet. Hence the address qualification, hence the limiting the away plan. You should feel lucky they even offer the away plan, as other carriers home internet now will not work at all unless it is at the qualified service address.
