Same when he does something similar in Helluva Boss (he plays Fizzarolli and during a song he is making trumpet sounds until at one point he just simply exclaims, "Trumpet!" and it makes me crack up every time. Same energy).
Unfortunately not a lot of broadway shows get a dvd released that's of the stage play (as in the stage play but filmed, not a movie with actual sets). Cats 1988 and Shrek the Musical were the only ones that I knew of before I took a quick trip to google, and even Amazon doesn't have that many. Only 16 results popped up when I typed "Broadway Musicals on DVD" and even then, not all of those 16 results were dvd's, some were cds; and not all were the actual plays, one was a documentary of a list of popular songs from a variety of shows. It might be a way to try and drive ticket prices up (You'll never see it outside these theaters, so you'd better buy a ticket while it's still here! Give us 49-149 smackaroons per person!) More shows should do it once the musical ends tho. Can you imagine the merch sales they'd get?! They're missing an entire market opportunity, really.
I remember this musical exists every 4 months or so, and each time I'm saddened by the fact that there's no news of any physical or digital release of this.
There is a crazy amount of reboots but I wouldn't mind them filming the musical version of Beetlejuice. I never understood why they did not go this route when they remade Beauty and the Beast, adapt the musical instead of remaking the classic original. The Frank Oz Little Shop of Horrors is far superior to the original 1950s movie.
I really wished they professionaly recorded the original broadway cast like hamilton. they deserved it!! edit what am i doing here the amount of people that liked this comment could overthrow the government
Hamilton is one of if not the most famous broadway musical and it made like three times more money than most broadway musicals so while the still could pay the staff with the money they could also record it witch most musicals don’t make enough money to be able to do that
@@vedayates6421 a pro shot and money is nothing to a Broadway's musical theater. The amount they would spend on a pro shot is minimal compared to the gigantic set of Beetlejuice
@@atto.m oh yes! I also love "I just met ya really it's a flattering offer-" gets me goosebumps every time- she can sing such clean amazing notes and can sing so high, you need some binoculars to see the notes on the sheet of paper- :D
@@immortalsun a compilation really made to be a clean edit synced to the audio, but it's hard to find Broadway footage FULLSTOP if it's not been released for public consumption, hence my amazement
Actually Alex Brightman talked about it and said he had a special technique with his vocal folds that allowed him to do this voice without any pain or strain :) it's so amazing
Actually. It doesn't hurt him at all. Alex's voice does that and it's just as if not much more natural fir him to talk that way because of a mutation he has with his vocal cords. It's why no one comes close to his Beetlejuice in the musical
I KEPT THINKING SHE LOOKED SO FAMILIAR but I just could not place her. I don't think she sang in that show and that is an unforgivable sin cause oh, my god, her voice is INSANE ❤
Even more impressive is that the actress portraying Lydia just graduated high school and has the voice of a seasoned professional yet this is her first major production. She has a future ahead of her.
@@imsoboorrreedd7707 HE IS!! I was just listening to this and I was like “Wait..isn’t that Fizzarolli???” And sure enough, I see Alex Brightman as beetlejuice and Fizz.
Fun fact: In the original Beetlejuice Alex Brightman did Beetlejuice (the character) and he also voices Fizzaroli (Helluva boss) and Sir P and Adam from Hazbin Hotel
I love how Sophia Anne Caruso uses those little touches to Beetlejuice's shoulders to take control of the song when she does her fake-outs. Fantastic acting all around
This video is actually so cool by compiling different clips from different performances where costumes/hair/makeup were different. So, its not technically changing, its different shows spliced together to create this awesome video of the whole song. That is a cool way to think about it though.
Can we appreciate the fact that she turned five syllables (“young and beautiful”) into ZERO syllables? Take those words out and the song doesn’t miss a single freakin beat. Blows my mind every time.
You could use a buddy Don't you want a pal? (Yes I do! Yes I do) Girl, the way I see it Your daddy should be leavin' And you should stick around What? Nothing So, Lydia, don't end yourself Defend yourself Daddy is the one you should maim Together we'll exterminate, assassinate No The finer points can wait But first you gotta say my name Go ahead and jump but that won't stop him Here you got a solid plan B option I can bring your daddy so much pain All you gotta do is say my name Girl, just say it three times in a row And you won't believe how far I'll go I'm on the bench, but coach Just put me in the game All you gotta do is say my name I don't know your name Well, I can't say it How 'bout a game of charades? A-Dog, B-Town, my old pals You, get away from her Lydia, this is a dangerously unstable individual Betelgeuse is sexy Betelgeuse is smart BJ is a graduate of Juilliard He can help We found him on Yelp Our troubles all ended on the day that we befriended him Every word is the truth Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse What the heck was that? This show looks like a riot! So gutted I missed it on tour. Wish I could see a recording. With this actress as Lydia her voice is insaane- the range, the tonal control and how she makes it sound childish with that thing. And her expressions even when she's not singing or talking, and her hand gestures!
the guy playing Betelgeuse did a great job with the voice! that character's voice is infamously difficult, and it can really damage the voices of people who don't know how to sing it. like wow! edit: spelling
Beetlejuice can't lie its part of the whole curse, same reason as for why he can't say she needs to say his name 4 times and why he keeps talking about killing someone because its what he actually wants to do, its also part of why he says fake cartwheel
Wow, really love the edit! Using the album outside of the spoken bit from the ghosts near the end and lining it up with the footage so neatly I didn't realize at first that they weren't the actual audio! Very impressive!!
I don’t why but I love this song so much!💚 never seen the movie or any other part of this musical but I just love the energy of this song and Lydia’s attitude! Also her voice is amazing 💚
Just wanted to point out that What Barbara possesses the people to say in the background is, "fool your friends, fun at parties," which is exactly a quote from the Beetlejuice movie.
