I very much appreciate your generosity in sharing your knowledge and love of the game. Likewise, a round of applause for your respect for your players, as well as your commitment to the craft of storytelling. I’ve been in a few high level campaigns way back in second edition. A very small group of experienced players and an excellent DM were willing to take on the challenges of a high level campaign. Each of the players could run multiple high-level characters well. We each and all had the necessary knowledge, experience and *commitment*. We made to work and it was fun and it was work. Most groups, I believe, couldn’t do what we did at that level. Or maybe they just wouldn’t want to. I like a character who can do cool stuff and wield an awesome weapon that he won in combat or inherited from his father. But I would not want a character to become merely the locus of statistical possibilities. I want a character who is capable and who comes alive in a story with other living characters. Thanks again for producing such useful and enjoyable content.

great words. Thank you! Agree on the viability of high level campaign with veteran players and also, perhaps a different edition of D&D.

After playing 5e for over 6 years I swapped over to Pathfinder Second Edition about a year ago and I don't think I'll ever go back to DMing high level D&D. Everything at high level in PF2e just works, you could run an entire campaign at max level and have no problems. PF2E's three action economy fixes a lot of these issues high level D&D suffers from too.

Oooh. Color me interested. I've played pathfinder after it's hype (rightfully so) around the time of 3/3.5 but never delved into pf2e. Of course I know about it but now I'll have to look into what makes it work and see if I can squeeze something out of it and tack that into 5e.. Of course there's always a simple switch of games but not sure I can convince my table of 9 to start playing Pathfinder 2E instead of D&D 5e.

I haven't tried DMing for 5e, so I'm looking at it from the players perspective, but as bogged down as 15-20 gameplay may seem, the level 1-5 is worse, for me at least. Every adventuring day is like a problem to be solved, and to solve a problem, you need tools. When you open your tool bag and its just one attack roll, or one spell slot what are you going to fix with that? Just my 2cp. When Blizzard made it possible to pay them to NOT play the game is when WoW really started to shit the bed.

Well said. Maybe the sweet spot is between 5-11/12ish

I’ve yet to run any high level 5e content but I could absolutely see how it could be difficult, I would still love to try and experience it but from all I’ve read and watched I feel I know what I would be getting myself into and I’m excited to see how it goes, is there any plan to talk about all of the recent WoTC announcements?

My thoughts always come from experience. I've run high level. It's fun for moments but overall, not a fan (at least from the DM side). I say give it a shot. It's the only way to be sure (other than nuking it from orbit..) As to wotc news, now that might be a great topic for the next video!!

Everything you said is what is wrong with Basic D&D (5e). WoTC has turned the game into a kids game. So much missing from 5e that was in the game.

Appreciate the comment and I can understand where you're at. I think it's just upon all of us to find the right system/game, then right edition to fit the desired of all involved (player AND DM). Afterwards, it's a matter of not being afraid of mucking stuff up and twisting and squeezing until it feels just right.
