While we were visiting our friends at Wava Studios in LA, Hudson Thames dropped by for a spontaneous collab video. If you haven't yet heard of Hudson, you will - he's been busy making a name for himself in both the music and television industry. Check out his soulful vocals on this cover of A Great Big World / Christina Aguilera's "Say Something," with backup vocals by Robyn and a fancy Steadicam video to go with it.

Mike Cottone - That was ridiculous flugelhorn accompaniment. The song was good, but the horn at 1:16 made me sit up and notice and the solo at 2:03 was fantastic. Thank you for bringing so much to this song.

robyn is amazing as always. she never drops below a 9.5 for vocals and everything else. but this young lad, my god this chap is very good. by far the best version of this song. literally by a million miles. just an amazing song with the piano and trumpet at the end aswell.

In the beat before the Fluglehorn solo the cymbal sounds almost like a voice starting the chorus, that one beat is honestly my favourite part of the whole performance. It's almost like a breath right before the breathtaking solo.

OK, Hudson was spectacular. And Robyn blended with him perfectly. Mike on the flugelhorn was absolutely stunning. Drums, piano, and the arrangement were... I'm running out of adjectives. But for me, on this song, Adam proves that it's all about the bass. Just... wow.

I'm glad PMJ is open to give others a shot, whether they are the most brilliant or not. I see them as pushing the boundaries of today's youths by exposing them to music of the past -- it gives much hope for the future. I'd cut the kids some slack and be relieved enough that they're willing to open themselves to other genres :)

After listening to the GBW version and the one with Aguilera, I can say I like them all - it's a great song. But I like the PMJ version here the best - there is a urgency in the vocals plus the the arrangement that take the song to the next level.

Kids, there are many types of jazz. This reminds me a lot of soul jazz with a touch of smooth. Soul jazz was made popular during the 60's, though started emerging during the mid 50's. It is a type of jazz that has influences from blues, soul, gospel. It can be upbeat and energetic or slow and soulful. Ray Charles' "How Long Blues" is a good example of earlier soul jazz that is slow and soulful. Smooth jazz first emerged in the 60's. A good example of modern smooth Jazz would be Sade's "By Your Side".

This is by hundred miles the best version so far. This song and Robyn herself reminds me of Pucha, a girl I once had in High School. One night Pucha approached me just to kick the ladder away, and I ended up hanging by the painting brush. In other words: She broke up with me, she broke my heart. I still remember her kisses, her smell, specially her typical sidelong glance, just like Robyn.
