Flowey says a lot of things, part 2/2! Had lots of fun boarding The Hole. Audio by Revtrosity: • Saying A LOT of Things... Intro Music "Your Best Friend" remix by Neku: • Your Best Friend
I don't know why, but nearly every single animation of Flowey I see whether it be comic or animatic, they show Flowey with leaves. I just want to clarify. THIS IS NOT ACCURATE. In the game, Flowey never has any leaves, nor does he use any roots as limbs. This detail that people keep forgetting angers me greatly, and I hate it. Please try to understand why you think Flowey has leaves.
I can’t speak for everyone, but it’s not that we think Flowey has leaves. It’s a conscious choice. Undertale’s graphics, while charming, are simple. Very simple. To the extent that trying to translate them into something that isn’t pixel art often requires adding more detail, changing proportions, et cetera. A lot of things are technically not drawn how they appear in the game- for example, Sans’ glowing eye does not burn, yet most fanart of him depicts it as flaming. Why? Well… basically because it looks cool. Art isn’t always about being accurate, it’s about being visually appealing, so translating Undertale’s character designs into non-pixel art often means things will be changed. I think a lot of people just draw Flowey with leaves because it looks more natural to them, seeing as most cartoon flowers are drawn that way. I hope this is a satisfactory explanation? Though you seem very passionate about this subject so I’m not sure. Tl;dr: We draw him like that because we think it looks better, and that’s a good enough reason for an artist to change things.
@@swarple Your explanation on this subject is very long, and thought out, which is something I appreciate. Your tl;dr is a good, and I respect the answer. I am passionate about accuracy in design, and your explanation as to why people draw Flowey with leaves is acceptable. Thank you for allowing me to understand why people do this.
