Do you girls know that you are gold dust to your business? Your presentation is excellent. You educate and entertain in equal measure as well as working hard without complaint. You thoroughly deserve your success.
It's always nice in any business to see the fruits of your labour go to generate income. This is a job well done ladies. I notice a new worker in the yard, he hasn't been introduced so I'm curious as to who this fellow is ?
Each stack of metal banded lumber is termed a "bunk". Origin of term I don't know. I was a Sawyer on table, cross-cut and big 4 blade gang saws. I was the same age as these two sawyers as I was. Good memories. When I worked at a mill yard on structural 20' big beams as the loader for the cross cut Sawyer their joke was cut off a foot or so and then let me know he was doing a favor for me by making it lighter as I balanced the timber on my shoulder and hauled it away. I envy the loader these two sawyers use to load. This is an excellent team.
hey just got done painting and coating the renovation for my condo... I asked for a toy lumber truck for christmas. real metal and wood.. LOL yeah I luv lumber God Bless YOU
'Looking Through The Flowers' love it! Just imagine if the finished floorboards were branded with a small E&J mark on the underside, denoting the 'source sawyer mark' of the lumber. Somewhat like the various marks placed on jewellery. Perhaps many years from now some appraiser of some fine old house would locate the E&J mark and identify the floors as having been milled from logs by two famous sawyers Emerald and Jade. "if you enjoyed, do that, if you didn't, don't" Yaaas! Love that attitude!
This video took me back quite a few years to when I was a truck driver and pulled a flatbed. Thanks for the reminder of the life that I had before I became disabled. Really enjoyed it
Well I became disabled and worried to death because my 7 yr review with SSDI is coming this month.I will be 63 in a week. I've got all kinds of issues like COPD, STAGE 4 CHRONIC KINDEY FAILURE and right kidney will have to ve extrated in the nezlxt yr or so its the one tahts failing bad, MILD CASE OF SCOLIOSIS OF THE SPINE> CURVE OF THE ENTIRE SPINE. BOTH KNEES REPLACED,RIGHT SHOULDER REPLACED TWICE IN THE SAME YR 2012 AND STILL NOT RIGHT, LEFT SHOULDER NEEDS REPLACED BUT WHATS THE POINT THE RIGHT ONE DIDNT WORK OUT. And I've been seeing a chiropractor for 2 months for the spine having 3 bulging disks and alot of arthritis on the spine and in my neck. So who knows what's going to happen. I may end up driving truck like you did or something else of If lose my benefits. It's scary because I know I can't do physical work anymore like I did for 40 yrs. Beat my body up bad and paying for it now.
Not a legitimate problem Em...means business is growing. Going to need another truck that's all. Expanding is growth, growth is good. Keep up the good work young ladies & you'll achieve everything you & your family hope to in plans for the future of the business.
A good friend of mine owns a planing mill in Jamestown, Tn. which have two of the huge planing/moulding machines running wide open daily. They produce everything from T&G to shiplap, flooring and logs for log houses. It's a family run operation that has been in business for decades. In two locations with a kiln being in the second, they have millions of board feet of rough lumber and 6 x 12's ready to be processed. It's an impressive operation. That's what has me so interested in this channel, the commitment and tenacious work ethic it requires to keep an operation like this running smoothly. Thanks for all your insights about this demanding business, it's enlightening.
As a videographer now retired after over 40 years I am consistantly impressed with Jade's videography. So creative! Of course it doesn't matter how good the shooting is, the editing must use the footage to it's potiential. Good job ladies! (did I mention that I taught videography for 15 years at VCU)
Whole heartedly agree... The combination of this, and the fact Emerald is one of the most natural presenters/hosts I've watched on this platform make the channel so professional and feel bigger budget than other channels that don't provide content even half as interesting or satisfying to watch as LCLY.
That’s a lot of wood! I hope the boss was generous on payday this week. Love y’all’s operation and it makes it nicer to see a family business hitting on all cylinders. Keep up the great work ladies😊
Miss Emerald, is there any chance of a brief video of Jade and yourself galloping around the pasture on a couple of fine horses? Country girls most always seem to have grown up riding.
You can buy plastic moulded corner softeners so your banding does not damage the wood. Also make lumber piles same height and use common dunnage dimensions and put first level of lumber on trailer then put 8’ dunnage on top to lock load together. Then second level on top binds the lower one to be way more stable b
It's nice to see your partnership with Story Book continues to pay for both of you. Regarding the thumbnail, not quite what I think of when it comes to splitting wood.
The incredible and wonderful smell of freshly cut wood/lumber, especially pine, is so pleasing to the sense of smell. "Thanks" for sharing, and enjoy the video's!
I was wondering how you could make a profit as the mill is labor intensive - but high end products like clear flooring makes sense. The end product is super expensive.
I don't know if come here more to see you beautiful girls, or to see the beautiful lumber you make, but either way, thanks girls for putting up your interesting and well-done videos.👍
Seeing such good lumber stacked up reminds me of a time I went in the big "L" store to pick up some 2x4s. Sitting in the middle of the aisle was a stack of the most warped, whopperjaw, crooked 2x4s I have ever seen. They looked like someone tried to stack up spaghetti after it was cooked. What in the world "L" thought anyone was going to do with that mess is beyond me to this day. Cutting it up for kindling was all it was good for, yet they were selling it for the same price as more acceptable boards!
Emerald, that’s a lot of lumber! You and Jade have been milling like crazy. Nice work but I know it involved every family member. My LCLY hoodie is feeling great this Fall!
That's a good thing you went over to go do your bill work watching that loader guy was just driving me crazy if he is so skilled he should have had it loaded by now what was that a half a day it took him,, need a new driver. 🇺🇸😎🇺🇸
Great video. I'm curious why Jade is referred to as the videographer assistant when she shoots 90% of the footage. Shouldn't she get full credit as the videographer?
Nice behind the scenes. Cant go wrong with trucks and loaders😂 i know run RC versions all the time aa a hobby. Tongue and groove easy to work with. Have yall looked into milling tables , benches pieces for any companies? Thanks Ladies for all you do. Great thumbnail and camera shots of the loader
That is a lot of lumber. Your collaboration with the flooring company is going to be good for both of you. Enjoy the flowers while they last. Videography gets better all the time way to go Jade. Excellent job ladies thank you.👍♥️♥️
Yesterday I watched another video of a women making furniture.. one of the first thing she said was : safety first, I always knot my hair in a ponytail so i doesn't get caught.. sounds like a good advice.
You're very easy to understand and I'm glad you want us to learn. How long can a saw band last under normal conditions and is it a hassle to replace it?
You can type "changing blade" at the 🔍 or start by seeing Emerald and Jade change a blade in "SAWING A BEAM OUT OF OAK!! Beautiful results" starting at 0:50.
The only bad thing is the video was to short 😥wished it was longer is all .. I don't know about y'all but I am looking forward to Thanksgiving this year spend it with family have good conversation and enjoy a delicious meal anyway thank you for sharing another fantastic video looking forward to next one 😃
I’m old school when it comes to hardwood flooring. Sixteen years ago I put down about 1800 sq ft of 4.5 inch mostly long locally milled ash. I sanded and finished with three coats of hand applied pure tung oil. The floors have held extremely well over the years.
Great video as always. Your planters filled with zinnias are beautiful. I hope that you're saving the dead heads for seeds. If so, you'll have more than enough for replanting them next year. You should include the extras in the kits for your boxes. A bonus of beauty! Or maybe throw some in with a merch purchase. Or, send me a bag full for the idea!😊 I plant zinnias, but the deer eat the buds off of a lot of them. I'm in PA, but a couple of hours south by the Susquehanna. Still might make a trip for for a couple garden boxes.
