So good to have this time to share with you my goodbye to Bill. He was my friend, love, and confidant for almost 3 decades. I will miss him beyond any words that exist. Bill would tell me that in life we live our own story and never allow anybody to edit us. Be true to the story that is you, wherever it may lead.
4 weeks ago I did a video at the thrift store and I ask out of the blue why the number 29 was haunting me all week. I see what it was now. 29 is the 29 years Bill and I knew each other.
We met in 1992...we said goodbye in 2021.
We were apart for 6 of those 29 years. Perhaps there was a plan...but I know not why I would spend so much time alone, counting the stars in the night,
without him.
Until we meet again, I will miss my love.
Thank you everyone for praying for Bill and showing me so much love and kindness.
Be well and Desi and I will see you next Saturday,

You were his true love..You and I have such similar stories with this very thing..I am forever greatfull that you have told us you and Bill's story..It has made me and I'm sure many of our sisters here, like myself, feel a sense of great comfort..You gave us your openess and honesty regarding loving a great person with some terrible serious issue's..I am So glad Bill knew "we" here were on his side as well Susan..SO glad he knew our Desi, and Lastly just Thank You for loving Bill. Oh Sandy what a beautiful way to put it...from his small room by a window at the nursing home he would realize the world was learning who he is. As Bill asked you about heaven I thought about God in both of your lives; you said yes you'd see him in heaven, tugged my heart. I know you were blessed by Bill in seeing him these past 3 years but he has known true love and caring through you. Truly your reward will be in heaven for this. In the meantime you carry the lessons, the loss and love with you. May God's peace be with you. Thank you for introducing Bill to us. A stranger in a strange land as we are. Well put Sandy and yes, I as well had a similar relationship as Bill and Susan. She has shown great, strength,devotion, love, friendship and opening a window into her life has helped me immensely and she seems like a kindred spirit, our friend. My deepest condolences Susan, R.I.P Bill.

When my ex husband died last September he left me all over again. Sometimes I wake up and the pain of his passing is so raw. Like your Bill, everyone loved him, he could light up a room.

So true !!! Faith, Hope & Love, but the Greatest of these is LOVE !!! If we would only love those who are perfect, what is that ??? But to love with our whole hearts someone whose flaws and pains are all a part of them, isn't that the truest love ?? For God loves us with all our imperfections and so we are to LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

May the memories you’ve had comfort you always. I loved a man who loved another but never let me entirely leave. He passed away suddenly this past March and as you’ve acknowledged I know there is another who suffers even greater with the absence of his physical being. But I’ll always cherish our friendship even knowing I wasn’t the only one.

Just because you get a divorce does not mean you stop loving your spouse. Thanks for sharing. My first and second husband has demons of pride, adultery, and lying. I’m separated now 6 months from my second husband who is charismatic, businessman, general contractor, Elder in our church. Married 12 years. My family all loved him. I pray he gets right with God and comes back home. Praying for my husband’s deliverance from the demons and repentance and true salvation. Your forgiving spirit allows you to love your enemies and those that have hurt and betrayed you.

How was that her loss? This man abandoned her and left her without any money and left her crying her life away and she had to learn to survive totally alone. Thats not a loss Michelle. I've worked with veterans for 30 years and my heart goes put to them and their families, such as yourself Susan. Bill served this country and for that we are extremely grateful. I know you are grieving, but please be cautious of your neighbor who hates Desi. He could have serious issues, especially with a barking dog. Some people with serious noise issues cannot tolerate this particular noise and they will lash out. When my sisters little dog barked at her neighbor, the neighbor kicked her dog and her dog did not survive. It doesn't take much to hurt a small dog. I don't mean to add to your hurt over losing Bill, but I've been terrible worried for Desi ever since you mentioned your awful new neighbor. My deepest condolences for your loss. Take comfort in knowing you were there for him in the end.

my neighbor poisoned my lab, twice. The poor dog survived each time but was grueling and costly. A different dog and different neighbor, the day the neighbor moved he opened my gate and let my dogs out. i was at work. thank good the animal control picked them up and i was able to find them.

Because Susan is grieving she will, most likely, have her guard down and be not as aware of her surroundings, puttingvher in more jeopardy than usual. Anyone can see how much Susan adores Desi. She doesn't need something to happen to Desi on top of Bill's passing. You are OBVIOUSLY NOT a person who thinks ahead, or is that intelligent.

I’m so sorry that caring for Susan’s hurt would cause all of you to attack me bc I cared. I adore Desi too n had dogs my entire life. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings n could have said it differently. I see that you do care n it came from that. But I too care n still stick by the timing being off. Your heart is in the right place no doubt. But if everyone wants to gang up on me bc I don’t agree with your timing all though it is a valid point , so be it. I'm so sorry to hear of Bill's passing, Susan. Your behavior towards Bill when you found him again showed me what real love looks like. Your largeness of character and willingness to transcend sorrow and old hurts is an inspiration to me and I would guess many others. Bill was a lucky man in you, and he seemed to know that. Life is too short no matter how long it lasts. Now we each have our memories. It would have been my husband's birthday today the first without him in 54 years and so many memories and tears are flooding in. I want to share with you...I lost a love with the same demons. When you called alcohol and drug addiction demons, it really helped me forgive myself and him for loving someone who chose this way to deal with life. Hard on them, hard on others who love them. Bill is set free and what a Blessing that you were able to be with him in his last years. My deepest heartfelt condolences for you lovely lady. You were able to love him when he needed it the most. So sorry for your loss of your friend(ex husband and buddy). Grief is like the ocean. It comes in waves. The first holidays are the hardest. His birthday and his death date will be forever special days. Treasure the memories. Look upon the pictures. Think of him often. He will appear in your dreams. Maybe not this week or the last, but soon he will come to comfort you. Perhaps to relive a memory or two or just to let you know he is with you always. You may smell his scent from time to time. It may be faint and heavy at other times. Cry your tears. Talk to him. Grief comes in like a big wave at first and then the waves get smaller. Always there. The big memories hit on special days and then on not special days. He is only gone in the present but he will forever live in your heart.

@@NelCooper thank you. A friend, my dad and my finance dad passed away 2 years ago. I was not able to attend any of the services. My friend service was on line. Laura's husband is a preacher and so was her dad and her son in law. Her son in law spoke at the service. They had lived in many places. I got to love her when I was at college. We connected because we were both red heads. And I would keep their children. When I got sick with mono she would call me and brought soup to the school. She had breast cancer 3 times. She was in her 60s. I know others that have written letters in a journal. I highly suggest this to friends that lose a mate or a teen that loses a parent. Even a small child can draw pictures.

I agree that journaling and writing letters is a way to create keep sakes and to say what still needs to be said…if anything was left unsaid. My Mom told me I could still talk to people after they had passed. She said you can thank them or say what ever you want. She believed they would hear you. I believe it too.❤️

Susan, you were Bill’s eyes at the end which helped him to see and find his way into the light awaiting him. I am so glad that this story about Bill will help other women overcome similar situations and find peace. I have the greatest admiration for you. Your unshakable courage is inspiring. My husband is the rock from which I have built my life for 53 years even now as I approach my 17th year …with Parkinson’s disease. I am so grateful for his devotion. My aunt use to say everyone has a little red wagon they carry around with them. I suppose they do, we all have problems we have trouble facing, but you remind us all that we can and have the power within us to overcome our troubles with love in our hearts and the courage to look fear in the face and let go of that red wagon. you were his love/the love of his life/my husband died on my sons birthday/we were divorced/but remained friends for our son and for us/you do not throw 20years of love a child/home/just because we could not see eye to eye/we were better friends/on the day he was dying he told me he always loved me/i believed him/i will always love him/yes can i believe there love after divorce yesssssss//for sure//you sticking by him makes you one great lady//god bless you//

I am so sorry for your loss. Today is the 3rd anniversary of my true loves’ passing. We were married for 32 years and together for 38 years. You exemplify what true love is. Despite being hurt by him, despite not having life the way you imagined, you loved him through it all. My ex husband fell off the edge of the world due to addiction, and we lost contact for years. No one knew if he was alive. He has gotten clean, and he tells me he I am the only woman he ever loved, and he always will…he wishes he hadn’t screwed up. I love him still, he gave me my beautiful son. It is sad how some people have demons like they do. We are countries apart but we communicate several times a week.

When they get clean and sober they look back with such love when they think of us....and Bill had such deep regret as he said to me " I am so sorry I didn't apprecatie you when I had you as my wife....you were th elove of my life..." a lot of people do not understand....but love is love...xxoo

Young lady, you sort of made me cry today! 1st video that I watched and didn't realize your past and present grief. I'm so sorry. I never had a wife and I'm 74. I had a career job for 35 years that required me never to be home. I never could keep a girl friend even. When I retired in 2009 I went home to my parents and took care of them till there end 2 years ago. That was heart breaking for me but I was lucky to have them with me as long as I did. Now I'm alone but have adjusted ok or so. A different heart break for me then you but life is beautiful and when I add Jesus to it it becomes even more beautiful. Have a Blessed Day everyone.

I was so comforted by your sharing about Bill❤️ I had a friend share with me about loving the “unlovely” and your story brought that memory back. I lost my husband many years ago to dementia and he still lives with me, and I carry our memories, watching him fade each day is painful but I remember the good times we have together for both of us. You were Bill’s memories and RIP Bill and thank you for sharing him with us. Forever in our hearts.

Susan, I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I could give you a hug He is now at peace, and Heaven has gained a ANGEL We had in common a loved one having that dreadful disease, my sister is in her final stages of Alzheimer’s . You were blessed that he was able to communicate, and you could tell each other what you both meant to each other… my sister has no voice and hasn’t for 8 years… I will pray for you that you find strength at this sad time. You found true love not many can say that… 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Susan always know you were there for Bill, when he needed you the most. RIP Bill 🙏💙

Thank you for your video, you really touched my heart. I lost my ex husband to alcoholism, we had divorced but remained friends, I was glad we did because he died at a young 57 years old. Unfortunately he choose the bottle, funny he always said to me, you know I can stop drinking anytime I want. He was such a good perso, very smart and talented, full of love. He also had demons, I never know what there were, he never could tell me.

10/7/21 ~ Dearest Susan: I am just now learning of your beloved Bill's passing; I am so sorry for your loss. However, how incredible you found him again and he, you --- what a blessing to know you were loved and adored all along. I, too, understand loving men with darkness & demons - a former husband and a long-term relationship. The latter with an Australian who lived / still lives in Southern California --- a song writer (he's written several amazing songs for and about me), singer & guitar player (he was the singer in his own talented band) + a contractor. So many talents and a heart full of love but also at times anger & bitterness. He, like my ex-husband loved me deeply & completely. To be loved so completely and deeply is a gift --- but the flip side of that can be deeply painful and difficult to wrap our heads around (both of these men dealt with alcoholism; thankfully my ex-husband finally got sober years after our divorce. My Australian - has not and he now lives alone). I believe the old adage is true: "Better to have loved and lost - than never to have loved at all ..." (paraphrasing here). Nobody can take away Bill's love for you ... those are your memories to have and hold 'til the end of time ~ 💕 Be gentle with yourself Beauty.
