I completely understand. I found my husband dead on the couch with our 9 year old son a year and a half ago. He died in his sleep. Completely unexpected. There are so many times I have wanted to sell this house and move but I can’t seem to do it. I still see my husband out in the field working. He bought this house before I ever met him. I always told him if anything ever happened to him I’d sell this house because there is no way I could take care of 10 acres, a large house and the kids. He told me then, “No you won’t babe. You’re much stronger than you think. You’d be just fine.” Well here I am a year and a half later doing it. Single mom and all. A girl who never even mowed. His name is Lee and I know he has the biggest smile right now. I’m praying for you guys. You have to do what feels best for you.
Hey guys for what it's worth. Me and my wife lost our 2yr red head this past January in a tragic accident. We also have 2 older ones that we have to keep living for and we also have moved to a new house couple of months after the accident. For someone that knows just keep on trucking y'all are doing good. Y'all are in our thoughts.
We lost our 14 year old daughter in December and also felt the urge to move. Couldn't walk in her room without crying. Now it has become a place refuge where I go to spend time with her memories as I read her journals and pray. I hope you are healing well. I highly recommend the book "Therefore I have hope". It was written by Cameron Cole who lost his 3 year old son a few years ago.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm only 14 yrs. old so I've never lost a child or a sibling but June 23 2019 I lost my great grandma, she was 92 yrs old. She lived on our land with us so every day of my life I seen her. It's been really hard. So I'll be praying for you and your family and may God bless you and your family
I can't imagine what it would feel like living in your old house with Rivers memories. My wife and I had to move a few weeks ago when her mother passed away in our bathroom. Never easy. Praying for more peace and healing for y'all.
My sister's husband died in April this year. He died at home in the living room. He had a progressive brain disease. I don't know how she lives there. Not a lot of money I guess... :(
I’ve lost many family this year. My grandma, great uncle, and my aunt. It was harder each time. Different pain. I have watch your videos with river and he reminds me of my little cousin. He just turned 6 in September. He is like a child to me and I can’t bare the thought of losing him. Just thinking of it hurts my heart. He loves swimming and all that fun stuff. He’s autistic and I hate thinking that I could lose him. I cherish every moment with him. I love his goofy laugh and playful smile. You’ve shown me that I should hold those memories and those to come close and never let go. Always find the good in every bad moment. Find the happiness in the darkest of times. Cherish those who are still with us and those who have left us physically but are with us in spirit. I know everyone I’ve lost is watching out for me and Cheering me on to the finish line. Amber, you cry as much as you need to. I don’t fully understand what you’re going through as I have never experienced it myself, but we are here for you for whatever you may need. And if that means crying to the camera in every video, then so be it. That is not a sign of weakness, but rather strength and vulnerability. You do what you need to do to continue to heal your broken heart. I get to see Granger in concert tomorrow and I have been looking forward to it for weeks! I’ve been debating on if I want to wear my River tribute shirt to the concert or not because I don’t want to make Granger uncomfortable, but ultimately I think he would love to see the impact such a small kid had on everyone and you guys made the shirt to keep his memory alive, and that’s exactly what I’ll do. Just know that I truly have been thinking of Riv very often and I miss his gigantic personality on this channel. The whole Smith family carries themselves so well. Just 20 short years ago when we lost someone all we had were our own memories to hold on too. With time some memories were lost and others distorted, start to forget even the sound of their voices. I'm so glad you guys have so many great times recorded and time will never distort these memories. I'm realizing I should pull out my phone and record good moments more often. You are in my prayers. We moved just about a year after, We lost an adult daughter, so totally understand the need to move to heal. You guys are so new to the healing, the sharp pain of loss gets duller. The loss is still there every day, but through that loss you will be a more sensitive and find some joy.

Hang in there. Five years ago my 5 year old daughter died and I cried all the time. They are healing tears and need to come out. Don't ever apologize for them, they show how deeply you loved River. You guys are brave for moving, that is something I still question if we should do. I hope you keep strong in your faith forever. Over time my faith has dwindled and I am having a hard time finding it back. Thank you for sharing the videos of River and letting us get to know what a sweet boy he was. My dad passed suddenly and unexpectedly two years ago and a few months after his passing we moved house. I think it was tremendously helpful in moving on from the bad memories and being able to focus on the good ones. Having to go into the room he passed in was very, very hard! Praying that y’all find peace and joy in this new home and that you’re able to build wonderful new memories together!❤️

My nephew passed away 10 years ago this month after he was swept away by a riptide and my sister and her husband are still devastated and can't even speak about it or even visit his grave. I wondered if you were going to b able to stay in your house. I don't think I would b able to either. The fact that you van go back and visit, have a bonfire, etc will help a lot. We sold our home also for the same reasons, I can honestly say it really did help having a new journey and new memories to make while you get to keep the older memories xx life dose keep moving forward, and if you cant give your heart a chance to live you don't live. it is exciting times for you all to have a new place like fresh new sheets on a bed.
Brother i have been afraid to bring this up in a comment but i have to tell you a moment that stays with my wife and i was the day you had the kids out "minnow hunting" and they were in the back of the pickup when you got stuck. When the mud hit little River in the facethe look he gave was beyond priceless. We laughed for hours over it. That is the memory we have of that little dude and i cannot imagine what it has been like for you and Amber. So sorry but those kinds of memories are priceless. GOD BLESS

My son was 3 years 10 months and 6 days when he past away . I have videos on you tube that I watch just to see him . I've cried watching you guys. I wish i had thought of a you tube channel when he was still with me. I'd probably have so many more videos . Almost all the ones I had were stolen. I will keep you all in my prayers . I know how it feels to have to figure out a way to get out of bed. And put that smile on and cook and try to eat with the other kids to keep some kind of life moving forward . It's so hard . It's obviously what is needed to carry on. Trust your gut. I know we moved last year out of the place we called home for over 10 years and had the family start in and it was tough to do it, but we enjoy the new place so much more now and it's a whole new chapter of memories to be made!

My dad passed away 2 and a half years ago when I was a junior in college. A year after the fact my mom decided to move out of our childhood home, it was hard, but we knew it was the best thing for us. The house we all grew up in just didn’t feel the same anymore. It had an emptiness to it then and almost felt wrong being there. We packed up and moved to a new house. It felt like my dad was allowing us to make new memories in a new place. I hope you guys feel the same way in your new house. May it come with lots of new happy memories as well as always remembering the old ones ❤️

Don't be scared to cry everytime on the Smiths, all the episodes since Riv passed I have cried. I can't imagine how hard it is on you guys with how hard it is on us fans and we didn't know or love him like you guys did. I really hope you guys keep doing the smiths I love all of you.
