In that sense it is a somewhat decent translation for “hades,” which is also not an actual place, but a state where the senses are no longer aware. The soul dies and goes to “helan,” or “hades,” a state of nothingness/unconsciousness. It doesn’t experience consciousness in a pagan torture chamber from Norse mythology called “hell.” Let’s leave the mythology to the pagan religions, and stop applying it to the Hebrew/Greek manuscripts.

I came to Christ a year and a half ago. I've been working on my many sins and have managed to gradually eradicate them praise the Lord. God convicts me everyday of the sins I wasn't even aware of. We absolutely sin everyday. Whether it be a little cuss word, impatience, gossiping, envy, laziness, greed, a little white lie, having one drink too many on a hot sunny day, impure thoughts. There is not one who is righteous. We are made righteous by the blood of the lamb but we still sin everyday because that is our nature. We must repent daily.

RAY encourages them to Repent and Trust the Savior! He doesn't want to manipulate them or pressure them to repent and trust, as there is a high likelihood that they would not be genuine (ie become a false convert) they think they would be saved, but in reality they likely would still be on their way to Hell. Ray used to get people to say a sinners prayer, but he only made false converts. They said a prayer but Ray said there was no change on the life (no fruit of repentance) I recall Ray said that 27 of 28 of his friends said the prayer but became false converts. Only 1 was still walking with the Lord...

This of course cannot be done on our own, it's impossible. However by His almighty power, mercy and grace, we are able to walk in His righteousness in step with the Spirit and crucify the flesh and leave the darkness. There are plenty of passages that teach this. While sure we might find ourselves possibly sinning in the future, it is wrong to think we cannot stop, because we can only through Him.

We can and might stumble into sin during our walk with Christ, but be careful thinking it's just fine to sin and then just ask Jesus to forgive you. He did cover our sins by the washing of his blood but we ought be sincere in our faith and if we love Him we should abide in His words and commands. One of those is 'go and sin no more'. We are called to be made new in His image, not to stay in our sin and abuse His grace. HEBREWS 10: 27-27 makes that clear

Because they would have to do a self examination. They don't like to do that because they know they've acted in a way that is contrary to God's teachings. In addition, they would have to admit that their secular worldview is incorrect. In other words, admit they're wrong (Pride). They also like their sin and pleasures of the world. Nobody is going to drag them to heaven or hell. They choose which one they're going to. God doesn't send them to hell. Unbelievers themselves got that all handled.

because repenting doesn't save you- only the blood of Christ does that. Once you're saved your mind and heart will be made aware of all your sins by the Holy Spirit and you will repent constantly from that point on
