As a teacher and foster mum, there is value in parenting from the positive instead of the negative. I think sometimes we get weighed down in day to day life, and our language changes. It's always good to stop and think about how to talk with awareness and purpose.

Me too. But I was 15 and when I walked into the office I saw my younger brother who didnt even attend our school. My mom had attempted suicide and family was coming to pick us up. Lucky my mom got help and is here today.

Principals offices meant you were in trouble but after that day I feared the worse being called to the office.

​@divingtodonate2021 I'm a teacher but also a foster Mum. One of my kids (fosters kids) went to the school I taught at. His social worker wanted him to have therapy after school at the school and I refused. My parents offered their house for it which was just 5 minutes up the road and because I said no to the school setting they said it couldn't go ahead. The therapist was only an art therapist student and didn't feel comfortable going into people's homes alone. They did two things wrong, the first being wanting him to have therapy at the only place that he had as a constant and safe place and secondly letting a student therapist treat an extremely volatile, angry and aggressive child without a qualified therapist observing. It's unfortunate that children in care have many triggers when some could be avoided. I'm so sorry that the way things happened for you meant the school office was where you experienced trauma making you fear being called to the office. I hope that your life is good, that you are happy and I wish you all the best. 😊❤

I think she might have guessed when they were at Walmart and she was slowly naming more things she wanted to get, like she was trying to work out if her mum would keep saying yes 😂

You have to realize that she came a situation that could include trauma - physical or mental. Crystal explained before the adoption that she is catching up socially and mentally to her age group. Yes there is a difference between her and he4 age level, but that has already improved as well as Aurora. They are a new family, and she is doing things she probably never thought of doing. This is my opinion and it comes from working with special needs kiddos in a school district. She will catch up and crystal and Aaron know how to deal with this progression.

@@sunnyklampe7773 thank you. I realize that, but the others in the family don’t engage with Evie, most likely because she is trying too hard to be included. The other kids from foster should be helping her to adjust. But the others recently adopted came with siblings. Evie has been on her own. I cannot imagine her trauma. I was just pointing out what I viewed. The older kids should rewatch the videos and look at their body language towards Evie and make some changes. Evie deserves the same close bond of siblings like the others, it is sad to watch Evie try to engage with her siblings and they ignore her. That makes things more difficult for Evie to overcome obstacles in life. She is a remarkable, kind and generous person.

@@margaretmacgillicuddy4944I understand what you are saying but you have to remember that we only see a snapshot of their day. We have no idea how they all react off of the camera. It think it would be good to give them all grace at this point.

@@margaretmacgillicuddy4944 i see what you’re saying but you they are all children and will communicate and act as they are. They most likely are not trying to exclude her, but like you mentioned she can have high energy which may not be everyone’s cup of tea ALL of the time. Evie is so sweet, as are all the other kids, and I’m just glad she’s smiling and enjoying her new home.
