Thanks for another interesting review Paul, I think i'm right in saying the first ever Technics product was actually a speaker, the Technics 1 from 1965.

I prefer sealed box speakers, but if I had to choose between front or rear port I would certainly go with a front port.

Loved the review, I'm looking at new speakers currently but I'm not seeing much in the way of a replacement for what I have, the part about Harbeth speakers was particularly interesting and informative, but like you I enjoy a mix of music, I'd looked at ribbon tweeters before but didn't really know what the difference is/was, this review has been extremely helpful, so thank you for this once again, everyday is a school day even at my age, never let it stop :)

While I could never see these replacing my Martin Logan 35XTs..its nice to Technics staying relevant. I remember their stuff from the early 80s.

Great review, thanks! I'm always a fan of relatively affordable products that are higher on technical content than on marketing bull****. As you liked the Technics amp you reviewed and more likely than not the speakers were designed with the synergy of a Technics system in mind, I was expecting you to recommend that amp as a potentially good pairing.

Considering I have Technics DJ equipment at home, but also appreciate fine listening, I would consider these. My only concern is the low sensitivity which means I would have to throw away plans for low power tubes or solid state Class A amps, especially at low volume levels. I do like the classy design and the front ports would be a blessing for sure. Great review.

Thanks, I think I will buy those Technics Speakers for my Yamaha AS801 Amp that I have in the study. Low end gear I know but for my taste in music probably perfect.

Nice video! The older Technics SB-C700 really impressed me. Authority and weight - even in a cluttered hifi shop. The styling was a high point for me, more than this C600. I have been keeping my eye out for a used pair ever since. Do you have any impressions about how they compare?

Soon as I heard 83db sensitivity, and noticed the size of the ports, I knew there would be adequate bass, if nothing else. Thankfully it's not yet another 5.25" speaker.

Hi Paul interesting with regards to a manufacturer that tends not to be in the limelight in recent times . Yet of course in the past they did indeed produce such equipment as speakers . Which leads me to think there may indeed be a sea change in the offing , as to how this will pan out is indeed open to debate . But I would assume that the dominance of certain established brands may in future be challenged in the mid range market . Best wishes and kind regards as always 😀👍👍👍

What is your opinion about ring radiator tweeters? How do they compare to ribbon, amt, soft dome and metal dome tweeters? Are there any clear differences in tone that can be heard in different types of well-designed tweeters?

Mike Oldfields Incantations is one of my favourite albums and he is my favourite artist. Going to the Tubular Bells 50th Anniversary Concert at the end of the month and have front row seats but I have since found out Mike is not part of this so I feel like I have been misled and even scammed.

Good that they sound good, I'd have to do something to those cabinets though. What were they thinking, looks like cheap 80's and early 90's speakers that come with bargain basement microsystems and the like. Looks aren't the most important thing to me, but I just couldn't live with these without some aesthetic tweeking.

I have all my Technics systems and speakers from the 80's up till the end. At 83db I wouldn't pay near that price. I'd maybe pay $199 at most. Technics made long-lasting equipment but not high end equipment. The Technics SB-LX series speakers are great. I still have my SB-LX70 speakers and they still rock.

I have tried a number of speakers with dome tweeters over the past two years while I was trying to settle on a pair. Dome tweeters seem to have a sound signature that just doesn't appeal to me, at least at 1K or less. I am staying with the ML 15i speakers you turned me on to. I am still thrilled with the naturalness and musicality of these speakers, especially when paired with a sub!

One thing making Paul's ability to favorably compare the MartinLogan 15i with the SB-C600 is that the SB-C600 retails for US $1,100 while the 15i has been replaced by the newer B10 and is currently retailing for US $600. I am seriously thinking of getting the 15i for my desktop setup.

Technics make good equipment no doubt about it, But for the price tag, You can get equipment cheaper that will blow these things out the water easily

@@TheAudiophileMan I'll give just a couple of examples.. Marantz, Denon, N.A.D.... Cambridge any of these units paired with the right speakers would easily outshine that Technics

Well again, a bit general isn't it? Can you provide specific models because we're talking about that "price tag", as you put it in your first post. It would be nice for others to hear what specific models you prefer at that "price tag" and then they can discuss those with you if they want to pursue those further. It all helps to keep that discussion and debate going, you see.
