Pablo said that this is a very personal song as he emphasizes that loneliness is a battle journey which needs in-depth understanding most of the time kasi, iba ang perception ng mga tao sa kanila than what is actually happening out of the spotlight. That's why he wrote "Ilaw" to tell the story of their journey of popularity and its consequences on the other side. It's also a song about dealing with depression and finding ways to get out of it. Kaya he intended mainly to composed the song in upper notes, to express a cry for help and hindi tayo nag-iisa. Kaya Ilaw kasi for him, it means "spotlight".

Who shines the most is depends on the listeners ear and type of sound. Technically they are all on point, however, each one has different sound. Which sound is pleasant and beautiful, it depends on the listeners ear and preference.
Ken’s natural vocal tone and timbre is so good and so pleasant to ears. His vocal texture is rich and beautiful too. His voice gives flavor to the sound of the group, a spicy flavor 😁. My genre is R’n’B, that’s why I love the quality of his voice so much.

You're right, the studio and live are the same. I also agree with your evaluation of their voices and their abilities as singers. Having said that, it shows how brilliant Pablo is in giving them proper assignments that makes their sound complete. This is why their fans especially the non-Filipinos are growing exponentially.

Steel is obviously the lead singer of the band and his high notes is beautifully in contrast to Ken's rich low notes while Pablo's voice blended and softened their rawness .Josh and Justin's voices complimented the three producing an ultimate oneness. They are all a good singers walang tapon. That's what makes sb19 stand out from other groups.
As for me the five of them contributed equally pagdating sa vocals , so credit must be given doon sa pinagsamasama nilang boses altho may mga distinct voices at talagang magagaling, pero ang lalong nagpaganda sa kanta ay yung blending ng combined voices nila. Kudos to the 5; the Mahalima.
What made SB19 very distinctive and a class of their own- all and each of them can sing, rap, dance- each with unique strengths that contributed to their strengths as a whole. Individually, they are artists of their own especially Pablo, Josh and Felip/ Ken who are getting massive recognitions as solo artists. The recent Wish Music Awards attest to this. But the AAA 2023 highlight them as a force team to be reckoned with. If you recall the lyrics, the light especially the blinding light, reflects our common failures to see the reality. For example, ligt referring to success and fame gives us the picture of the person is OK when in fact, behind the facade of it lies a loss soul, vulnerability and weakness. In effect what light shows on us doesn't necessarily mean the reality/ truth

We are grateful and blessed na sa generation or sa time natin nagkameron ng SB19. Sila na talaga ang magiging basehan ng mga future pop group sa Pilipinas na pang world class mag perform.
Pablo has a cache of songs he has written in the past; Ilaw is one of this. He prolly wrote it during the time when they felt shackled by the rigid management they had to go through under a Korean company, when they could not express themselves fully because they had to comply with the dictates of their management, when they had to grin and bear it because they knew it was the price they had to pay in their pursuit of ilaw (limelight).
They usually sing a song filled with harmonies but for Ilaw, it was focused on their individuality. Pablo being the composer and co-producer of their songs, he usually assigns them the part that highlights their strengths. Stell has the highest range (he also usually does the adlibs at the end) Pablo from mid to high where he has a very addicting raspy voice that is suitable for rapping and singing. Josh and Justin for the mid range where both are vital in their harmonies. The two actually showed alot of their improvements, they also went over their limitations in singing with Justin and Josh singing notes that is abit higher with their usual. Lastly, Ken who has the lowest range where he can still reach higher with his voice. His voice was also highlighted on their song 'I want you' since his range and voice suits rnb. They definitely have different voices and it is amazing how they do their harmonizations. I am just amazed by them😊 P.S. They were actually not prepared for this performance, they were suddenly asked by Rappler to sing two of their songs

@my age of 70, i am really thankful SB19 emerged in my lifetime whose songs and lyrics were totally different from the usual OPM before them. indeed a sound break from the norms.never before have i tried soo hard to disect the meaning of the song but now. Pablo's lyrics words/ references were mind blowing .needcto google them .na eexercise utak ko trying to interpret the wordplay/metaphor/references that even after listening for couple of times, still others have versions diff from mine. Pablo is their main composer and arranger ng kanta he also co-produce most of their songs. STell is their main choreographer with the help of Ken and Josh Justin is also their visual director. Justin mainly directs Josh and ken can also write and produce, choreographed their own solo songs..

True! All five members can sing individually and harmonize with each other well 💙 For me Ilaw is about the Limelight that performers may find themselves exposed to. Sometimes the fame & demands from the public may get to be so much for an artist that he just wants to have a short break to find his true self which may get lost in the process of being famous. The artist feels that he is not being truly understood by the people around him. Though Pablo has said that the songs he composes are open for interpretation of the listener.

There are some interviews where the boys honestly opened up what they went through to get to be called Pride of the Philippines.
