"Manananggal" is a mythical creature in Philippine Folklore which able to split its body into two. The upper part was able to fly and the lower part remains rooted on the ground. This also symbolizes the SB19 wherein they are now soaring high but remains rooted in the ground. This song simply shows that we can have both world like reach our goal and enjoy fame but still look back from our humble beginning.
We all didn't expected that a MANANANGGAL that was used to scare kids can also be used in a song creatively... Pablo is really a lyrical genius... SB19 has a bright future with their unique and amazing talents
11:10 "I love that little space they left in there just to get you thinking what is coming next" Simon Servida: *Umm yup 👀 That was totally intentional* 👀👀👀👀
i love your reaction, not because you are reacting to SB19, but because I can see you are putting efforts to analyze every single detail of the song. unraveling the mystery or the message of the song. SB19 is full of RIDDLES!
Mana is a song to those who didn't believe 'em at first. Despite the treatment they remain Manananggal (a creature which upper body seprates from its lower extremities when it flies). Half of 'em is flying high like dreams and half of 'em is grounded on it's feet. Also, when you listen closely to the song they keep on repeating "Manananggal Mana", which could mean someone who takes away legacy (bashers) , since "Manananggal" (used as an adjective not the creature) is someone who takes away something and "Mana" is heritage or legacy. Here's some of the lyrics and interpretations about the song. Hope it helps. 🎶Di mo kilala no'ng nasa lupa pa Aye, ni walang alaala🎶 To those who didn't give a damn about them when they were still at the bottom. 🎶Aye, ngayong nasa alapaap na Giit ako ay nagbago na🎶 To those that say they're changing(arrogant or so) because they're reaching heights. 🎶Nah, I'd rather half my body go missing🎶 Well, they got it all wrong. They'd stay grounded even the success. Insert MANANANGGAL: a mythical creature whose upper extremities fly high (like dreams) yet the lower body stays on the ground (humbleness). 🎶Sa 'kin ay hindi problema, kung 'di niyo pa rin nakikita tinataglay ko ang biyayang hindi niyo maikakaila🎶 It's okay even if people couldn't see their potential. 🎶Zoom, papalayo, 'di na hihinto. I'll be floating here 'cause I'm grounded, chillin'🎶 They'll continue reaching heights yet humbled. 🎶Wala na bang bago? 'Yung hindi ko alam sa 'king pagkatao🎶 Pertaining to what the haters are saying which is absolutely absurd, since the boys knows their selves well other than the bashers. 🎶'Di na ba natuto?🎶 Again, these are words from bashers. "Di na natuto (You haven't learned your lesson) ", since the songs they first launched flopped. 🎶Kakailanganin niyo na ata ng milagro🎶 The sarcasm! Haters always say they only need miracles to make their dreams happen. 🎶Langit, lupa, magsasama, basta ba maniwala. 'Di man kita, tunay na halaga ng aking biyaya.🎶 Even if the world couldn't see the gifts they all have, nothing is impossible for as long as they believe. 🎶Aswang ba kaya kinakatakutan? Bibig mo ay itikom mo na lang.🎶 There's no point in being afraid. Haters ain't Aswang (another mythical creature associated with the dark side) to be frightened for. Yowh, haters should shut up! 🎶Pasensiya ko'y 'wag mong subukan? Sige lang, sige, sige, 'wag lang kakatulugan?🎶 Never challenge Esbi's patience nor sleep with grudges.
All of them are wise, but PABLÖ is the one who composed all the 6 songs in this EP album.. enjoyed your reactions, particularly during the part when you didn’t know what a manananggal is all about!!
@@Eva_Reyes all EP Pagsibol = COMPOSER = John Paul Nase / PABLO Both PABLO & SIMON SERVIDA producer of WHAT, MAPA, MANA, SLMT, BAZINGA Your right only IKAKO Producer is Thyro Alfaro ,😊😊😊
An aswang ("wangis aso" tr. "like a dog") is a mythical creature with a human form that shapeshift into a dog that and eats innards of people. Manananggal is a woman who sever her lower torso to her upper torso that upon split, the upper torso gains bat wings that preys on fetus on pregnant mothers.
@@onyxnavee1990 according to some urban legends and some online blogs that the manananggal also prey to fetuses just like the Tiktik sir, which is I also heard from the older generations of my family. They also have an elongated tongue that reaches the belly of the mother.
@@ijaultima4321 that's what really confuses me coz Manananggal preys on fetuses and have also elongated tongues just like Tiktik, who on some descriptions look like Aswang that instead of sucking the fetus with its elongated tongue, eats it's prey's flesh or innards. It's like Manananggal was the mother and Aswang is the father, then the Tiktik was their child... Who was the Tiyanak when it's still a baby. 😂
Reactiom on point💯 Pablo is the composer of all their songs in the EP and he always love to use word play or double meaning. I love their songs coz it's open to interpretation, depends on one's mindset and how will you relate to it.
Most of us thought who did that high note was Pablo but he confirmed that it was Stell😁 That "little space" actually has instrumental but Sir Simon Servida forgot to add it there in the final output😂 but that gave a suspense effect which is cool too. But I heard they will upload again the "complete song"
Mananangal is a philippine mythical creature that has the ability to separate its lower half from it's upper body and has wings. Hence the creepy/Halloween-y vibe
You might have read the significance of manananggal in the comments below. Manananggal preys on humans sleeping at night. The last line of the song “Huwag mo akong tutulugan, kung hindi.” means “Don’t sleep on me, or else.” Its a really good final line for the song.
Mananggal is a mythical creature subspecies of a aswang(creatures of the night), it detaches it's top half to it's lower half to hunt. While the top flies to hunt, it's bottom half stays on the ground. Implying they may be soaring but they swear to be grounded despite all the recognition. Mana-nanggal, people who cancels and reffering to the people behind the cancel culture. "Nanggal" = To oust, "Mana-nanggal"= Poeple/a Person that drives someone out or cancels someone.
There's no English translation coz that is a representation or symbolism. It's a mythical creature it represents that even if they fly or soaring high(with their achievements) they will stay rooted on the ground.
Manananggal is a self-segmenting mythical folkloric creature whose torso separates from its lower extremities. The torso has wings and fangs and flies at night to prey on sleeping human beings, while the lower part of the body remains on the ground.
Hello, Andie here! Great reaction! I attempted to translate the song based on my understanding of it. The following is not the official translation (still waiting on it). I just really wanted to share this cause I think the song is awesome, and Pablo is truly a genius for writing a song about Ghouls (Mananaggal/Aswang) and relating it to their struggles. Who writes a song about Manananggal? Only Pablo. A'TIN, please feel free to add your thoughts. BTW, Mana is my favorite! 😊😊 [Verse 1: Ken, Pablo] Aye, hindi ba mahiwaga? {Isn’t it mysterious?} 'Di mo kilala no'ng nasa lupa pa {No one believed in me when I was still on the ground} - the “Kilala” here directly translates to “recognize” or “know of” but I think they meant “When they were first starting out, no one recognized or believed in their talent.” Aye, ni walang alaala Ika'y nangamusta, pusta ko singkwenta Aye, ngayong nasa alapaap na Giit ako ay nagbago na {Not even once Did I remember you checking on me - I bet fifty Now that I’m soaring high They say, I’ve changed} 'Di mo ba ako nami-miss, oh, yeah {Don’t you miss me?} Nah, I'd rather half my body go missing, oh, yeah {Word play pertaining to Manananggal - “an old mythical creature in the Philippines that separates from their lower part of body (when hunting for prey) and their fangs and wings give it a vampire-like appearance” - Wiki} [Pre-Chorus: Stell, Josh, Justin] Bakit nga ba ganito? 'Di ko maintindihan ang sinasabi mo Madaya ba'ng mundo? Kung gano'n na nga, heto, babaguhin ko {Why is it like this? I don't understand what you're saying Is the world truly unfair? If that's the case, then I'll change it} - this line specifically pertains to changing the status quo Sa 'kin ay hindi problema Kung 'di niyo pa rin nakikita Tinataglay ko ang biyayang Hindi niyo maikakaila {It’s not really a problem to me If ya’ll still can’t see The talent that I possess You can’t deny it} T/N - “Biyaya” can mean grace, blessing, but the context of the song generally pertains to their talent so “Biyaya” can also mean “natural/innate talent” [Chorus: Stell, Pablo] Manananggal, manananggal, manananggal, mana {Manananggal - “an old mythical creature in the Philippines that separates from their lower part of body (when hunting for prey) and their fangs and wings give it a vampire-like appearance” - Wiki Mana - Inheritance (to inherit); it can also mean spiritual life force energy} Langit, lupa'y magsasama, basta ba maniwala {The Heaven and Earth will come together if you believe} - means everything is attainable 'Di man kita, tunay na halaga ng aking biyaya {Even if you don't see the true value of my perseverance} - As mentioned earlier, Biyaya can mean a lot of things in Filipino, but I chose perseverance (tenacity) to describe the difficulties they had to overcome to get to where they are. Manananggal, manananggal, manananggal (Brrah!) [Post-Chorus] Mana, mana, mana, mana [Verse 2: Josh, Justin] Huh? 'Di ko na marinig sinasabi niyo 'Di na nga umaabot dito sa kinalalagyan ko Ingay pa ng katabi kong eroplano {Huh? I can't hear you from here; the noise from the plane next to me is drowning out your opinions} - I chose not to directly translate word per word, but basically this is what I think they meant. I'll go turbo, turning on the nitro Zoom, papalayo, 'di na hihinto {Zoom, soar high, don’t stop} I be floating here 'cause I'm grounded, chillin' Whatcha calling punks? Yeah, we not dead [Pre-Chorus: Pablo, Ken, Stell] Wala na bang bago? 'Yung hindi ko alam sa'king pagkatao {Do you have nothing new (to say)? Perhaps there are aspects of myself that I am still unaware of} 'Di na ba natuto? Kakailanganin niyo na ata ng milagro {Haven’t you learned yet? You might need a miracle.} Sa 'kin ay hindi problema Kung 'di niyo pa rin nakikita Tinataglay ko ang biyayang Hinding-hindi niyo maikakaila {To me, it is not a problem If you still can't see (that) I possess talent (grace) You can never deny} [Bridge: Ken, Pablo, (Stell)] Aswang ba kaya kinakatakutan? {Are we threatening? Do we look like ghouls?} T/N: Aswang is various shape-shifting evil creatures in Filipino folklore, such as vampires, ghouls, witches, viscera suckers, and werebeasts (Wiki). They're basically asking if they look like ghouls to the haters because they seem to despise their existence. Bibig mo ay itikom mo na lang Pasensiya ko'y 'wag mong subukan? {Better shut your mouth, don’t test my patience} Sige lang, sige, sige, 'wag lang kakatulugan? {It’s alright, just don’t sleep on us} T/N: It's a play on words. You don't sleep on Aswang in the Philippines because they'll eat or kill you. You must track them down (kill or be killed). In this context, since SB19 are the Aswangs, the haters can keep mocking them, but they will persevere to prove them wrong.
“Mana” came from MANANANGGAL which is a filipino mythical creature that splits its body on the waist, upper body has bat- like wings, and prey on human fetuses, the lower half stays on the ground. SB19 compare themselves like manananggal, no matter how high they fly and go up, their feet will always be on the ground, they will always be humble. Your reaction is greatly appreciated
Mythology The manananggal is described as scary, often hideous, usually depicted as female, and always capable of severing its upper torso and sprouting huge bat-like wings to fly into the night in search of its victims. The word manananggal comes from the Tagalog word tanggal, which means "to remove" or "to separate", which literally translates as "remover" or "separator". In this case, "one who separates itself". The name also originates from an expression used for a severed torso. The manananggal is said to favor preying on sleeping, pregnant women, using an elongated proboscis-like tongue to suck the hearts of fetuses, or the blood of someone who is sleeping. It also haunts newlyweds or couples in love. Due to being left at the altar, grooms-to-be are one of its main targets. The severed lower torso is left standing, and is the more vulnerable of the two halves. Sprinkling salt, smearing crushed garlic or ash on top of the standing torso is fatal to the creature. The upper torso then would not be able to rejoin itself and would perish by sunrise. The myth of the manananggal is popular in the Visayan regions of the Philippines, especially in the western provinces of Capiz, Iloilo, Bohol and Antique. There are varying accounts of the features of a manananggal. Like vampires, Visayan folklore creatures, and aswangs, manananggals are also said to abhor garlic, salt and holy water. They were also known to avoid daggers, light, vinegar, spices and the tail of a stingray, which can be fashioned as a whip. Folklore of similar creatures can be found in the neighboring nations of Indonesia and Malaysia. The province of Capiz is the subject or focus of many manananggal stories, as with the stories of other types of mythical creatures, such as ghosts, goblins, ghouls generically referred to as aswangs. Sightings are purported here, and certain local folk are said to believe in their existence despite modernization. The manananggal shares some features with the vampire of Balkan folklore, such as its dislike of garlic, salt, and vulnerability to sunlight. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manananggal Mana means inheritance, possession
"Mana" means ta transfer a gift. "Manananggal" can be defined as Philippine scary mythical creature or someone who take away something. "Manananggal Mana" - to take away the gift received. Thanks for reacting
Mana is the theme song of the new anime series in Netflix. "TRESE" . If I'm not mistaken... Salute to #SB19.. SALUTE TO PINUNO SEJUN/PABLO the composer of all songs of the SB19. ❤️❤️❤️
