MaPa = Mama and Papa (Parents) | Mapa = Map (English) Our Map is our MaPa in this Life journey. | Both used and present on this song. This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19. This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece will help us do another move to tell them how much we value and love them. In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advice they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map). In the Filipino culture, we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Times wherein we just want our parents to stay still and its time for us (children) to do the rest. We want them to rest from the days and time they give and sacrifices for us. This song hits the hardest if we have those regrets if not being able to give back and let them rest from those tiring days they spent for us. Regrets prolly due to some unforeseen events. Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason. Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing. Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Remember a milestone in our lives, our first step as a baby? Those gently hands guiding not just our ways but most making sure that if we fall, they are there willing to Catch and pick us up and encourage us to try again. It's lullaby indeed, for parents-soothing their worries, acknowledging their sacrifices, reassuring them that for their lifetime of hard work they can finally rest coz "We got this." The song is about giving back to the people who put you first before their own ever since you gasped your first breath.

"I won't be lost anytime For I brought the map....." It was a play with words. MAPA means map in English and those are the combination of the first (or the last 😁) syllable of the words mama and papa. They won't ever be lost because they have the map/mama and papa to guide them. 🥰

That's the power of "PROSODY" working behind your back..... What is clear is the lyrics/words of the song and it's meaning right? However, the underlying chord progression of the accompaniment plays a big role matching it's slow BPM and the vocal projection of the singers make it all worhwhile. Without the backing music it wouldn't have been as sad as it seemed!

Tbh, ngayon lang ako nagkaron ng lakas ng loob para pakinggan ng buo ang kantang to, kasi expected ko maiinggit na naman ako at magi-imagine tungkol sa pamilyang buo. Ako kasi, lumaki ako nang hindi ko kasama si mommy at daddy. Although support naman nila ko financially pero uhaw ako sa mismong kalinga nila. Kaya expected ko maiinggit na naman ako. Pero hindi. Ang naramdaman ko, kahit sumama loob ko dati sa kanila dahil sa naranasan kong magkaron ng insecurities sa sarili ko dahil lumaki ako nang wala sila, pinarealize sakin ng kantang to na kahit anong mangyari, di ko pa rin maitatanggi sa sarili ko na sobrang mahal na mahal ko pa rin sila bilang magulang ko 😭😭
