My school had hand me down jerseys from 20 years ago and as a DB I had o line shoulder pads and thigh pads. Trying to reach above your head with both hands to fully extend wasn't possible.

@@Dwatts24111 I know exactly what you mean lolol. The amount of sleeve on the jerseys that used to hang down over the shoulder pads was longer back then. So in order to get the "short look" like these guys have, we used to have to twist the loose fabric as tight as it would go, fasten rubber bands around the twisted up part to keep it in place, then tuck that up under the armpit lol.

This is actually a college stadium but I think it has something to do with money because a couple years ago they used to play in South Carolina. I think there trying to get back to that.

The High School League claims it costs too much to rent those stadiums for the games. Just like the trophies are a joke now. Why not just hand them a certificate printed off the computer the week before. I bet the salaries in Columbia haven't gone down any! That was the reward for playing for State, letting the young men play in a big stadium and get that experience. I suppose 50+ years of tradition doesn't matter to the bottom line. It's a shame that Gaffney players had to play in a stadium that was smaller than their own.

Weak from a legacy their granddaddies, daddies, uncles and older brothers have handed-down to them, expecting them to carry that legacy into it's 5th decade. But now strong enough to lift that 18th State Championship high. Strong enough to wear that ring on their finger. The ring their brothers and/or cousins won the last time Gaffney played Dutch Fork. Strong because now they get to pass the legacy to the next generation of Indians, who are already scratching and clawing to get #19 for Gaffney. Yes, they are weak...but one thing is for certain. They aren't as weak as the runner-ups. Because if the 2021 Indians are weak, young man, you don't want to see them when they are strong! Because that black & gold thrashing machine from Cherokee County is hell when it is well, and it doesn't get sick too often! 18 State Championship, can you match it?
