Literally not even a week later the steering wheel started making a grinding sound. Luckily there's a how too on club Lexus. Link is below for write up details. Like and subscribe for more. www.clublexus....
Awesome! Mine broke 2 years ago and I had been putting off the repair thinking it would be too involved. This looks easy! Thanks for making this video!
The video saved me at least $1000.00. I have a 96 SC400 with 97,000 miles. I’ve owned 5 This is the first time I had this issue. I checked with the Lexus parts department. They don’t sell the gear you have to pay the whole motor. 🙏🏽
I have a 1993 SC 400 and this happened just 2 months ago. Imaging the tilt was working fine for the first 30 years. I used this fix and it works great again.
I've had my 1998 SC 300 for almost 21 years. My telescoping wheel has the same issue for over 4 years. This video is awesome. Very clear and seems fairly simple. Thank you.
Had the same problem, your video helped me to fix it.. I actually used alternative washers as I didn't have one so I made it with ice tea bottle caps.. works fine! Hahah
You know what’s funny bro is that I picked up at a 1999SC 400 Lexus from all 87 year old one owner. The only owner kept it in mint condition. Never parked it outside. Nothing wrong with it but the tilt motor went out the exact same thing that’s happening to yours is what’s going on with mine and now that I seen this I have all the tools. This was exactly what I needed to see bro this is some good shit I really appreciate that bro. awesome work.🙌🏾🙌🏾💯
There was no washers big enough so I use the foam from my deteriorating seats behind the blue sprocket and it works like a damn dream now, Easy job thank you. 😂😂😂
Thank you! I’m sure adding grease is fine. I didn’t do it at the time and I probably should have added a little. But so far no issues and everything works.
I did the washer method and to no avail, the tilt still is acting up. It makes a click noise instead of a grind. Is the motor faulty, or do I need to actually use 9/16 washers. Couldn’t find any in the hardware store. Used similar washers that would’ve worked but again to no avail. What should I do next?
Love my SC but lately some weird shit is happening! Sometimes the wheel will move away when key is removed, sometimes it won’t. A few of the dash bulbs (LEDs) will sometimes go out then come back on. Right window stopped working, found broken wire in drivers door wire harness (apparently a common issue from years of door opening/closing). I get that car is nearing 30 years old, but what is it……humidity? Old age? Love that fucking car but never know what’s going to happen next, all seems wiring related. Any thoughts anyone? Great post btw………
Not really sure, but you can find it on eBay and Amazon. By the way, it’s been a few years with the washer and it’s still going strong. www.ebay.com/itm/153304098503?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1a9DDi225QQS1OmNVW7L32w28&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=153304098503&targetid=1644837434523&device=m&mktype=pla&googleloc=9007809&poi=&campaignid=20125739985&mkgroupid=149128855676&rlsatarget=pla-1644837434523&abcId=9312975&merchantid=8421344&gbraid=0AAAAAD_QDh8dtcSNTh_YV4Y4X9kdkfsRc&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhc7CjKPT_wIVkNXICh39jACOEAQYASABEgLCoPD_BwE
Mine sometimes work I have a 2007 Lexus ls460 the steering doesn’t return back when you turn the car off I’m not sure why it does return sometimes but it doesn’t do it all the time any help??
I’m happy to help. it sounds like the steering wheel motor might be going bad, but that’s the Worse case scenario. The best case is it could be as simple as a fuse. with out seeing the car I won’t be much help, and hard to say. If you have a multi meter, when it stops working again check to see if it’s getting power. If it’s getting power and not working it could be the motor. If it’s not getting power at all, then you would have to figure out why. In my case, a grinding noise can be heard, so my problem was not the motor, but the steering wheel not doing anything when motor is on. Let me know if you have any questions about this.
@@Edward3jr it works in every direction with zero issues but when I turned off it stays at the same position it won’t go inside the car to make it easy for me to get out of the car
Nico Arntz you can find the washers at Home Depot Lowe’s, or your local hard ware store. Washer size is 7x16x1x1/2. Full write up will be in the link below. The 600 sc300 I bought could have easily sold for 2-3k at the time I bought it. One reason in particular is because it’s a factory 5spd manual. Manual sc300 are not only rare, but very more sought after. Let me know if you have any questions! I doubt it as I like to think Toyota came up with a better design. However, it might be worth Taking it apart, if there’s a worm gear that is still spinning in there it might work.
Micheal Woods I’m not sure, but if you’re hearing the same grinding sound when tilting the steering wheel, it’s very likely this may be the same issue. Give this a try and see if it works.
Alex, your issue is a little different, but from what I am reading it comes down to these two things. 1. The motor or 2. The ECU. I found a great discussion on this on Club lexus. Read Post 4 as he has some warnings about this. let me know if you have any questions.
This would be an awesome video if you were telling the truth but no you leave out the most important part yeah the most important part you need to know in order to fix this thing you leave it out that's really That's mighty white of you that's so white of you
