Some fighters wear tunics over their armor.

@@LynneFairchild Tunics on armor looks different. Legs of this two guys do not have a armor... and why you use practicse sword?
@LynneFairchild

Their leg armor is underneath their pants. Both are knights with the Society, as evident by their white belts. Plus, one is a former Kingdom Earl Marshal. Fighters fight with rattan swords, so as to have fun fighting with their friends without doing injury to their friends.

@@LynneFairchild Armor under pants ? It no senes in this historical age. Hide armor was use in XVII and XVIII centures They look like VII - VIII ages warrior with one and half hand sword or like comic-con cosplayer :( You know there is a lot of steel save-sparing swords, right?

Honest question: Are both combatants operating under the premise that you’re both wearing armor? If that’s the case would half-swording be allowed?

All combatants are required to wear a certain amount of armor (may vary between kingdoms) and must be inspected prior to fighting. "As a general rule, armored combatants must have sufficient protection for their head and neck, their joints (wrists, elbows, shoulders, and knees), their hands, and their kidneys and groin." welcome.sca.org/armored-combat/ Half-swording is allowed on your own blade (not someone else's blade), provided that the combatant is wearing the proper type of gauntlets.

A year late, but.......... Regardless of what they actually wear for personal protection, the idea is that they are treated as if they are wearing leather over chainmail. So light or glancing blows would not count. Having said that, calibration varies from region to region, tourney to tourney, levels of fighters, and ever fighter to fighter. It is very nuanced, but at the end of the day, the two combatants really need to come to a unspoken agreement about what they expect from each other, and that they aren't too out of line with the expectations of what is traditional given the factors I laid out above. Hopefully they will both walk away in agreement as to who was the better fighter in that exchange. And yes, half swording is allowed, but typically only really effective as a block or a stab to the face.

you're asking if they can use a KILLING technique in a SPORT. No
@barry1492
@barry1492 3 месяца назад
@@badfoody yes, killing techniques are allowed. It’s literally what the sport is. The thing that makes it safe is that the swords are rattan and not sharpened steel.
