I just got an ICD implanted 8/19/24. These videos are very helpful to me as I recover from my surgery as it helps me know what to expect and answers a lot of the questions that you just don’t think to ask before the surgery or are afraid to ask. Thank you for your channel and the work you do on here. I really appreciate you.

It feels like getting kicked in the chest and a white flash. I had icd's over 20 years. The icd was finally removed when I received a heart transplant in 2022.

Wauw, isn't that weird to have spent 20 years with an ICD in you, and now not having it? Also, how do you feel today after your heart transplant?

Mine went off a few nights ago I’ve never been shot in the head but I’ve watched videos of survivors who have and that’s how I describe it POW!!!!! Scared the shit out of me but my heart was reset and I’m feeling ok

30 minutes ago. I experienced the first and also second shock in just 10 seconds. I did tell to my doctor that I will run next week he said dont worry no one have reached the 180 beats per minute and yes. I ran and suddenly felt like a car from behind hit me and I turn back . No one behind and that was the ICD which shocked me because it thought that my bit rate is high Im sad cause I thought the ICD will know the situation and high rate is because of the runing not anything else.

ICD for 4 months now, no shocks yet - hopefully never! Did get de-fibbed prior to my install though and that was a hell of a kick in the chest. Did the job though (was at 260bbm+ in SVT)

I’ve had an ICD since 1993, and it’s fired many times. The last was three times in one day (January 2024). I know it’s coming because of how I feel five seconds before it fires. It’s five seconds of intense panic. A powerful punch in the chest, and a recovery period as you process what just happened. Shocks are awful but they keep me alive until I get a heart transplant.

I do think I was 'lucky' to have had the shock in my sleep as I almost felt nothing. I guess when you are a awake it's a different thing... When is your heart transplant planned?

Mine got me 7 months ago. Hammer and shock feeling. Hospitalized for 3 days with IVs.

I was disco dancing when mine hit me. It felt like a mule kicked me in the chest. I did go to the hospital. Found out my heart rate got up so high the defibrillator thought that there was something wrong with my heart. No problem they just raised the number of beats per minute. 😅

Uhh, that's the worst when it happens when your just sporting... Just curious, do you know how high it was initially set before they changed it?

My ICD shocks 6 times after 10 minutes padel the first time after the installation. It's was very painfull, after week in hospital and some scans they decide now to do extra surgery on my heart to capture the scarve on my heart that causes the problem. 🤞🤞

Oh damn... That sounds painful indeed. Sorry to hear his Nico. How come it had to shock you so many times right after installation? Good luck by the way with the upcoming surgery.

Thanks, it shocks so many times because my heart rate goes in a few seconds from 120 to 264. My ICD max rate is at 180 and it shocks until it's under 180. The surgery end february is called PVI (Pulmonale Vene Isolation) and doctor say it's the only solution. Hopefully after this I can restart my normal life and sports without being scared that ICD is giving shocks. The other thing is also that every time the ICD is giving shock your drivers license is for 3 months unvalid.

Today i was told that i need a pacemaker,. I am TERRIFIED of being shocked

It's not fun to get shocked. But I know that when the time comes you'll be able to handle it. Have trust in yourself. Is it by the way a pacemaker or an ICD you need?

@heartwarriorproject thankyou, she mentioned both. I'm waiting to see the specialist to talk it over. I am not only in heart failure but also my heart is pumping all over the place.

No thanks, dont care. Unless they talk about transplant prior to its installment, and inappropriate shock? sure, driving down the road, nice! Nope, I ditched this program after all the testing, and then when i saw the next doctor, he said to me " i see you cancelled this proceedure, well it shows hear your borderline , anyways" How many guinea pigs are out there? And really, is this world some wonderful to be living in ? I like the idea of getting out of this twilight zone existence. 7/16/24
