The instructions to the babicz that I had said if the strings run through the body use the four screw holes. If you plan on running strings through the back of the bridge, use the three mounting screws.

I never had the intonation issue with my Babicz but I am using 12-60 strings so I have my saddles back a long way. As a matter of fact I couldn't get the Squier six-saddle bridge to intonate with a 60 gauge string.

that Babicz bridge was obviously aftermarket and could have been placed closer to the nut to avoid such problems.. plenty of adjusting space if had been shifted even a 1/4 inch forward.. but the pickguard was most likely in the way and should have been trimmed..

This is not an aftermarket. It was ordered directly from Babicz. A simple solution is to supply 3 sets of screws, so that all three of the indexing positions in the bridge plate can be utilized. MMcC

@@StringTechWorkstations just meaning those bridges did not come OEM on any guitars that I know of.. not sure if that neck and body are a match.. love your vids

The threaded "blind" holes in the saddle casting are only 5/16" deep. This is why they went with the triple option on the indexing holes in the bridge plate. I am surprised, after all of the engineering that they put into this bridge; that they didn't offer 2 ( or 3 ! ) sets of threaded fasteners to allow the the use of ANY of the pre-drilled and threaded indexing holes. The Ratio tuners that are on this guitar ... they supply a little baggie of inviso-match plates ( stampings ) for Kluson / Gotoh / Grover / Schaller etc .... a brilliant marketing move .. so that ANY of the tuners can be swapped-out without drilling or reaming the holes in the headstock ! what's the best bang for the buck on a tele set pups? I thought those sounded pretty good.

These are really nice ! The customer supplied, so I don't know the price on these. But realistically there are so many " boutique" pickups to choose from nowadays ... Bare Knuckles / Jason Loller / Tone Rider / Vineham ... the list goes on ....

Ok, I dont thing that the babicz is "right" meaning the saddle position in regards to intonation would change when you raise them, its weird to me but I still dig it!

The raising and lowering of the saddles, is only to line up the radius across the strings .... to the fingerboard radius. It has nothing to do with intonation.

@@StringTechWorkstations Well because the fulcrum the string is on is able to move up and down but is part of a sphere rotating, it also slightly moves the fulcrum back as it move it up and forward as it moves down, design flaw or perhaps aspect.

It is actually a disc ( not a sphere ) on the Babicz bridge saddle. The only instance where I use the saddle height to adjust the intonation .... is on the " wave form" 3-way Tele saddles aka: Glendale / Callahan / Wilkinson / Bardon / etc .... In those cases; because the horizontal movement capabilities, are split, for intonating 2 strings with one saddle .... I will micro-tweak the intonation on one of the two strings by raising or lowering ( ever so slightly ) one side of the saddle.

First, thank you for the absolute best luthier channel on RU-vid. As far as electric guitar string clearance at the 1st fret, what measurement would be your suggestion?

That string height at the first fret will vary slightly from string to string.... my criteria for finding the ideal string height there .... is ti dial it in so that the3 open string and first fret notes are BOTH in tune with the tuner. Thanks for asking. MMcC

That fingerboard repair is pretty tremendous. I wish you had shown a photo of the "before" condition so it could be fully appreciated. It looks like an undamaged piece of wood. That bridge makes my head hurt but seems like the best thing possible at the same time 😝

Next time! I really had my head down and stuck to this job until it was all done. It was a roundabout journey to bring this up to snuff .... whew !

Pretty nice guitar. Hopefully that company has some longer screws because that bridge looks really nice. I'm guessing the builder just placed the whole thing too far back though

We are waiting to hear back ..... I'll let you know. Honestly, I don't think it was a matter of the bridge being too far back ... the middle holes in the plate were fine ... if we can get longer fasteners .... it'll work out perfectly fine. For the amount of engineering that went into this bridge ... 3 sets of screws should come with the package ... so that all 3 indexing positions can be utilized.
