You've started me thinking Andrew, as to how many sleeper cab models and day cabs were built? I will ask my friend at the Leyland museum, if he knows. I'll amend my writeup for the clip. One thing that is unusual Andrew is the position of the door handles on the Amazon, most if not all Crusaders have the door handles at the top of the door. After I restored the Amazon, Andrew I said "never again!!" i've done 4 restorations and couldn't face another. But for some psychotic reason I bought a Landtrain 5 or 6 years ago without prior viewing 😱😣😬 I started it's repairs and resto late last year. I will add a clip of it starting up or something, when I get it's electrics refitted.

6x4 yet there can't have been many vehicles that could have bested it mobility wise, truly remarkable vehicle.

@@zopEnglandzip That is an understatement, apart from the engine and front axle Scammel but ,em to last. Think what a Crusader can do, re engined with a 600hp Kitty Cat C16 bolted to my 18 speed semi automatic box with overdrive and single reduction Rockwell SQRD Bogie.

swampplodder Always thought it was a amazon, there's a few crusaders over there. You learn something new everyday i guess! Think that 6x4 has leyland on the grill aswell, which i found different. I have a brand new E305 in the shed as a spare for my ERF, think it was built for the crusader EKA recovery but never fitted. Has a rear drop sump unlike the ERF, easy to swap though. 305 will be a step up from the 265L! Got to love the Rolls eagle!

It's a 305bhp Rolls. Due to the gearing, it feels like double that!

The rear bogie was a development of the Junior Contractor type as used on Landtrain while the front axle was not the 6.5ton Crusader/Marathon but an uprated 7.5ton version.

@@andrewking4885 The more distance the axles have between them, the better the truck holds on the corner, but the tires wear out faster. Did you understand?

@@gr9905 Thanks. It's not very common to see that type of wheelbase. They had widespread bogie trailers in Australia but the authorities canned that idea for road 🛣️ scrubbing.
