I worked for HP. We developed HPSmart android app. I feel so bad for hp users. I'm sorry. The app is massive and there are some part of it that work really bad. The project is really huge, and it's like about 20-30 devs involved only on android app. The thing that is destroying HP is buerocracy. There are small amount of horizontal relations between coworker, a lot of vertical relations which takes forever to approve smth, or to change smth. I remember one time we waited 2 month for designers rework because of stupid buerocracy.

I've been using the service for about 10 years now. The ink cartridges along with the printer maintenance are a bargain compared to retail prices. I only contact HP through my official account to change my service.

I mean, it's Google. As long as you pay them they don't give a single fuck about what you're doing. You wanna scam people? Well that's fine, really none of our business, go right ahead, do whatever you want, as long as it doesn't get us in legal trouble and your payments are on time we really don't care. Same with RU-vid too, with all the crypto-scams and get-rich-quick schemes and all the other bs that gets advertised very frequently. I guess that's just the nature of any for-profit organization - they care first and foremost about profits, and if it's more profitable to support illegal or immoral behavior, they're 100 % gonna do it, especially if they themselves can't get into any legal trouble for it.

I'm surprised there isn't a class action lawsuit against Google and other search engines for enabling scammers by not having safeguards to ensure that the top results are not scam sites. I guess the scam victims can't afford lawyers. 😐, especially after being scammed.

@@Gavvo.off30 Yeah they are very sneaky, if you aren't careful they can easily trick you into thinking they are real. It should be a crime that Google blatantly allows this to continue and does not do anything at all to try and stop this.

Facebook and Google get kick backs. Hell, just trying deleting your account from Facebook. They make it next to impossible. If you delete your account, they can't scam you anymore. Our government knows this goes on but answer to big money and refuse to do anything about it. Trump has said if he is elected, the Indian authorities will shut them down or he'll shut India down.😢

I have a quick question if you don't mind. I'm a college student trying to get a job in industry and recently I was targeted by a fake employment scam. They impersonated a company, made fake ads on indeed, and contacted me some time after applying. I ended up catching that something was off due to their emails being somewhat odd, but I was curious as to what they would have to gain by doing that? What's that sort of scam aiming for?

that is almost the definition of naive especially if you are aware of scammers/scam baiting and are technically literate. They will never call you and ask for personal information, atleast not to the point of enough information to be able to add an individual onto your bank account and open a loan… that’s not exactly a small amount of information needed there.

I love this scambaiting community, and how each one has their own style. Kit goes more for trolling and generally having a laugh at them. Pierogi is more of the confrontrational type. Jim Browning and Scambaiter put the fear of God in the scammers' heart. Pure torture. I love it.

Google Ads are just the trashiest. I go out of my way to avoid brands and products that I see advertised anywhere on Google or in RU-vid's ads, just out of pure spite. It's always ads for crap I would never use anyway, like Facebook or Temu, or ads for candy and junk food, or TikTok. Advertisers are so concerned about what's posted on the websites they advertise on that they demand censorship. They're the reason why RU-vid has become a dumpster fire. Meanwhile their brands are being used to scam people on the same advertiser's platform, but they're not raising a big stink over that, which shows what their priorities are.

It's all about $'s, that's literally all Google cares about. They will shut down the entire life of one person because they weren't paying for their phones, storage, smarthome stuff. I used to hate Apple until google did me like that :P

My thoughts too. This is what I would do. Get their robo calling software to call lots of police stations across India, giving the names, addresses of those involved. One in 10 calls. That raises their bribery costs. What's funny, is they are paying for the information to go to the police. So each employee gets all their IDs reported in the call to police stations all over India. One call every 10 mins to each station. How quickly do you think they will be shut down

@@chanz59 Of course it is only true in USA. And since RU-vid is operating inside USA, they also have to adhere to US Laws if they don't want to get into trouble. It's the same with Europe or any other place too, if a company wants to operate there, that company has to make sure that it complies with all the local laws or risk facing legal consequences. Maybe sometimes it is easier to bribe officials to ignore or change the laws instead of complying, but that's beside the point.

I mean, from a moral and ethical perspective, you are of course absolutely 100 % right, they really should do *way* more. But unfortunately all those corporations have not been created to benefit people, they have been created to produce maximum profit. And it would not be very profitable to protect people from scammers without earning any money from doing it. So from an economocial perspective, protecting users from scammers would actually be a pretty bad idea, because they'd lose money instead of making money. And in a for-profit organisation, losing money is literally the absolute worst thing you can do. You can hate it as much as you want, and again, I'm completely with you on that one, it's absolutely atrocious and disgusting and definitely needs to be regulated in some way, but right now that's just the glorious libertarian free-market reality that we live in.

They do. I was watching a documentary on scams in West Africa. The FBI works with governments on the matter. I think they can get them to be expedited to the us for a trial like they do with traffickers and pedos and drug lords.

As an officer, I can easily explain. They're out of the country, out of the jurisdiction. The only people who can really do anything is the FBI, but 99% of the time it requires cooperation from the authorities in the country they're in.

@@jake51515 If I may, I think it's a valid yet incomplete answer. Law enforcement work across jurisdictions either one-one-one or through Interpol. Not only that but in Canada cash mules and other scammers have been clearly identified by the media or scam baiters and the police refuses to take action.

The same reason that google/gmail allows emails with embedded links that point to temporary google cloud addresses with scam sites and doesn't show the original IP address of email senders (so scammers can be tracked). They're a scummy, evil company.

Meanwhile, I own a business that I list with Google. If I want to take a day off I edit the open hours in my listing. My "Closed on Friday" edit takes 60min or more to show on my listing because they have to "review my edit". But it doesn't seem like anyone reviews these ads.

Hell they will even hire criminals, albeit criminals they very much intended to turn from the get go but needed the legal leverage to convert them. So that's really where the FBI is fucked. They will take down a hacker with much intent on recruiting them. If they refuse then you just live a shitty life under uncle Sam's wonderful eye. But there are also white hat and grey hat hackers that get recruited through less dubious means. The US government loves supremacy, so it fits their bureaucracy to pay people well in this area shockingly enough. Blood money of course, but good money none the less heh. Again I really agree with your underlying point though, and not trying to be that guy here.
