Thanks for the information John. I always learn something new, I didn't know you can get airbrushing vinyl. I usually use vinyl, mylar or doflex for my stencils xx

Great video, thank you very much. Is it possible to make stencils with small details?
@GentlemanCrafterUK
@GentlemanCrafterUK Год назад
That will depend on how small the details will be and what you want to cut them from.

Could one repurpose old X-rays to make stencils?
@GentlemanCrafterUK
@GentlemanCrafterUK 9 дней назад
Yes. We don't get to take these home in the UK sadly as they are stored with our medical records within the NHS system, but I believe other countries pass these on to patients.

Hi

That's going to depend on where you are in the world. You should be able to find them easily enough via a quick online search.

@@GentlemanCrafterUK Unluckily I am in France and I cannot find them. I am not too bad in google searching but this time I was not successful. Are you allowed to tell me where do you buy them in the UK?

@Orset Christiane Sadly I don't recall but I do remember them being available via multiple retailers.

I tried cutting 200micron mylar on my scanncut dx with a brand new autoblade i only used to cut a few sheets of test paper, and it immediately dulled the blade. I coulnt use it to cut paper after, it tore everything. Did you encounter this issue?
@GentlemanCrafterUK
@GentlemanCrafterUK 7 месяцев назад
No, the blades will last a very long time if used appropriately. Things that can cause issues tho are debris in the blade holder, very intricate designs (which may snap the tip) or use on materials not intended to be cut with the machine, such as metals. I'd suggest checking inside the blade holder for debris and checking the tip of the blade for breakages.

@@GentlemanCrafterUK Thanks for the reply. I already cleaned the blade and also the inside of the blade holder. When comparing the blade with a new one we bought after this one started tearing our paper, i can't really see anything wrong with it, but maybe its on the microscopic level. (the new blade we got cuts fine in the same blade holder). I tried cutting out an SMD stencil from the mylar, so it is an intricate design, probably that caused the tip to snap (though, i cant see it with my eyes). If i want to do this, i might need to get some thinner sheets then since smd stencils usually consist of small details with sharp corners.

That's a good idea. By the way, to see the tip, you can take a photo with a smart phone and zoom in.

What is the thickest mm for the polypropylene? Would 10mm be too thick?
@GentlemanCrafterUK
@GentlemanCrafterUK 2 года назад
10mm would be 1cm (about 3/8 inch) so way too thick. Do you mean 10mil?
@seam2sew

@@GentlemanCrafterUK oops! I did mean mil 🤣
@GentlemanCrafterUK
@GentlemanCrafterUK 2 года назад
OK, well that would be equivalent to around 250 micron which I shared in the video and should be just fine.
