Nice to see reviewers with a long time history with the band. It's amusing to watch "serious" reviewers doing their 2nd or 3rd review and being so confused because they thought they had SCANDAL figured out, then they didn't. You guys have the right approach - judge each song/video on it's own merits and don't try to form an opinion about a band until you've seen a bunch of their work. Hope you have a safe trip to the show next year.

@@BestFriendsReact LOL! ... If you fell in love after Standard then you are definately a true SCANDAL fan. That is one of the weirdest songs I have ever heard, but it's also so catchy and it's a blast to hear/watch in their live performances. I'm pretty sure its some sort of tribute to funk metal band PRIMUS (see "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver") - the pop-slap style of their bassist/vocalist Les Claypool was a huge influence on Japanese bass players, and their name for it, chopping, is where F-Chopper KOGA got her stage name.

@@BestFriendsReact I don't remember the first songs I listened to, but I'm pretty sure it was "Sakura Goodbye" that sealed the deal. That music video was the first to show them as a mature band, and the playing/arrangement was a huge improvement over "Doll" which was more of a gimmick to get people's attention (Hey, look! Tough chicks that can play? instruments).
I do still love Doll, but I think Standard and Hon wo Yomu the best, I think it's because I love Mami's voice so much, even tho haruna is my fave member

This song is very upbeat song and we really needed a song like that. I believe I know the card game their are playing. You take one card from a player and if you have a pair discard the pair. Then the next player take one of your cards, and keep going until only one player has one card left. You want to get rid all your cards. Who has the joker at the end loose. By the way I live in Japan and played that game many times. I agree with your reaction!

The game is called "dobon" and I'm pretty sure the rapid back-and-forth pace of the game is where MC Mamitasu and MC Timo got the name for their rap group Dobondobondo - "This dance is NONSTOP (Dobon Dobon Dobon Dobon Do)". Actually, I believe it was Haruna who came up with it - I remember an old dressing room video where she goes something like "Dobon? ..... Dobon Dobon Do" and Mami or Tomo says something like "That's where it came from."
Only scandal I know is the band that sang I am the warrior...its a banger. I thought this was a new kpop group til your explanation. So jpop...I vibed with it. Vocally they sound like a new cute concept group. If you took away the instruments and added choreo, this could be a rookie debut song sans the rapping. I was actually waiting for that...kpop wtf have you done to me?😂 Great selection, another new experience...jpop band, not group. So if you're going to their concert how about twice, if they come here for a tour (and it's a good possibility). It's funny you mentioned tats, I was and still am thinking about a twice tat, small right on my left bicep.
Scandal is awesome, they have a lot of different sounds, some are poppy like this one, some are super heartfelt, and some are rock bangers.. all 4 of them sing on different songs and their voices are all completely different! There are a few kpop groups I would go out of my way to see live: Twice, Mamamoo, G Idle, Red Velvet plus more.. so far my only kpop tattoo is the Mamamoo one on the side of my hand since they are my favorite group and they started this whole kpop journey for me, but I'm sure I'll get more lol. SCANDAL plays a wide variety of music. This at the extreme pop end. For an example of their harder stuff try A.M.D.K.J. Patty Smyth still does gigs using the band name Scandal, but she failed to renew the trademark so SCANDAL now owns it, as well as the official RU-vid channel with that name. They've been making music since 2008, have 9 studio albums and 27 singles, and have a large foreign fan base with tours to Europe, US and Mexico, and Asia from China to the Phillipines.
I'm so proud of them for getting the rights to all their old music and starting the her label, I have the special edition magazines for vol 1 and 2, you can see them in the background of our videos, they have came a long way and broke the mold they started in, I'm glad they keep evolving and growing
