Two Swedish manufacturers, Scania and Vabis, merged in 1911 under the name Scania Vabis. The company manufactures cars, trucks and buses. In 1925, the 1.5-ton Scania-Vabis 314 and 325 came out. In 1939, the first size engine was produced.
In 1954, it strengthens in competition with Volvo with the 17-ton Scania-Vabis L71. Scania produces its first turbocharged diesel engine in 1951. In 1969 Scania merges with Saab. In 1989, the Scania 2 series is put on the market. Fuel-efficient vehicles that offer customers all kinds of options, power ranges, comfort and technology will be a turning point in Scania's history.
In 1995, the Scania 4 series begins to be produced. Scania L series includes long haul trucks, D series small class trucks, C series construction fleet and G series trucks developed for tough road conditions. In 2004, the new series is introduced. Scania R series long haul trucks become G series construction fleet. Scania S series, launched in 2016, makes a difference with comfort and fuel economy.
