Stones are best put at different points in the field, depending on the gradient and size of the field. Getting rid of stones isn't enough, you have to preserve top soil. Stone rows, slow down the run off stopping errosion. Though this has to be planned carefully as not to concentrate the water flow making it more powerful and cutting through the fields. They are also good at the lower height to keep any dirt atempting to errode to stay on the field. I don't toss any agrigate material, stones, cement (if you have a tractor with metal tracks you can use reinforced concrete as well driving over the cement then removing the rebar, which goes into the metal recycling pile). I have a really small farm, but i still have hundreds of meters of paths i need to use in wet winter months.
