Y'know, I'm not sure if I've said this before, but the parasites from S&R are unironically some of the best parasites in fiction and I wish they weren't confined to the bounds of a Minecraft mod.

It's good that assimilated squids don't have damage adaptation, because, being underwater, they're way less vulnerable to fire than just about any other parasite in S&R.
Iron golem should NOT be hijackable the way these parasites found a way to, but they are still able to take over him only because some organic matter in the form of a pumpkin is used to give him life....
@@M1551NGN0 first awesome reference in your name love it. Second i think it should be hijackable because it's an anima a non living thing that moves thanks to... magic ? Odk but there is no living part to it that the parasites can use to convert it to there army pumpkins are not parasitically convertable.
This mod always felt like 0 actual balancing from the creators and just made a cracked mod that relied on other insane mods so the player can actually survive
What drives me up a wall is the status effects, specifically viral and fear. Viral makes you take more damage from all sources and fear makes you take more falling damage. Using an ender pearl is a death sentence from full health if the amplifiers are high enough
@@CrimsonGamingMCuse the mod better wands and use the ender pearl wand doesn't drain your health but drains the XP be careful not too do it in air though
I think there should be more mods like that Honestly. During its heyday, 1.7.10 desperately needed more boss mods to compete with the overpowered item, magic, and utility mods.
i wish they'd make the entities break blocks in a non absurd manner. like, i love the idea of them breaking into your house but like they dont like break one or two blocks, they just destroy everything. like, if you fight any parasite near you your world just gets fucked and you have to spend like 20 minutes placing blocks back down. its like a mining drill, its really unfun
if you made your house using furnaces (back then i think) they wouldn't be able too break it lmao but now you need too use obsidian or a block that has the same resistance from a mod
I have to say, of the infection mods I've played in minecraft: scape and run, spore, and skulk infection, the most tame one is the skulk, it doesn't even trigger until you actuly get close and activate a certain object/entity (I don't know fully yet cause I have yet to even step foot near the underground structure that is covered in skulk growth) the one with the most absolutely rip your face off damage and health and just damn near nigh invincible mobs, is obviously scape and run. But spore has the "I just started my world, oh dear god the caves are completely overrun with spore growth." Spore has RAPID enemy biome growth, but the mobs are pretty scarce at first (but can snowball because of the rapid biome spread). What spore and S&R need are triggers to start the infection, like skulk. But because they both are on the gas right on world creation, it can mean the player is on EXTREMELY limited time before it gets impossible to do anything. Even if scape and run is meant to be played with other mods so you have more power, there is no way in hell you'd have enough time to get a full suit of wyvern armour from draconic evolution before the infection reaches level 4-5, cause by then most of the primitive-adaptive parasites will just one shot you with full diamond enchanted gear. And god forbid you play with mods that add more mobs, I once played with lycanites, and that was basicly just me handing the parasites a free all you can eat buffet, the world was over before I could even get ore processing going. Scape and Run is still my absolute favourite of the "infection" mods, but please, for the love of god, they NEED to have a tone down in regards to how bloody fast they can spiral out of control. Oh, and I don't know, MAKE IT SO THEY CAN'T ADAPT TO THE ONE AND ONLY THING THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE WEAK TOO!
Making the parasites adapt to their one weakness is genuinely just pathetic cope from the developers. The idea that the developers wanted the parasites to be so stupidly strong that they were willing to overturn their singular weakness is mind boggling.
@@jjprs3062I love how in response to people asking for balance patches the mod creator straight nerfed the most effective effect to parasites making them more op. I mean even with max enchanted armor many of the parasites shred the hell out of you only way to deal with it is to spam lures and revert the phases because at a certain point its GG to the world. Issue is the infection starts with gas from day 1 you don’t have anytime to get ready before it gets bad😂.
At first i hated the switch from the black/gray and green aesthetic to a more fleshy black/gray and red/crimson aesthetic, but now i cant see myself going back. The only thing is that the old models have become a bit nostalgic.
I wish they add a way, to give the player the ability to create his own parasite to control and evolve that sides with the player itself, Like a type of virus that can tame/control certain parasites to either be cultivated for research, or reformed for protection and attacking
That'd make a super cool mod, imagine making your own virus like Terraria's Hallow biome, and at first it's amazing but soon it starts to mutate and becomes distorted and overly colorful... and starts to become aggressive to the player. It'd be a cool concept; a virus that works for you, but is just as destructive and "evil" as any other if not kept in check
It's a great mod but I hope in the future they make it more survival-friendly, once you reach a certain tier it basically becomes impossible to do anything because of how brutal the parasites get at later stages. Maybe a command could be added to set a limit to which stage the parasites could progress to, like for example making them cap out at stage 3 or something. Don't get me wrong it's an awesome mod, just not exactly survival friendly unless you add a whole host of other mods to counterbalance it.
I feel like a mod shouldn’t expect it’s players to use the configs to make the mod playable but instead use the config to make the mod harder should they deem necessary, one of my favourite mods to play in creative though!
The mod was created to be used with other mods to fight the parasites however it was confirmed that there will be an ingame difficulty option for parasites
Everyone defends the awful balancing by saying "it's meant to be played with other mods" as if there are reasonably balanced mods that will protect you from 110 damage in one hit. It's just poorly balanced and needs to add better ways to actually combat them.
11:17 And this is what does it for me. Why does the mob created from literal fire get assimilated by the enemies weak to it? I guess because it’s hijacked but I think that’s genuinely the stupidest thing to justify it’s existence.
I still can't believe some of the higher tier parasites can adapt to fire damage and even lava. I guess it's supposed to avoid killing a beckon by simply placing lava on it, but that's only one parasite
@@CrimsonGamingMCthey could find a much better way to do that though, like making beckons specifically, or maybe even nexus parasites in general, stop taking lava damage (not all fire, just lava) at like half health or something. Honestly, nothing should be able to adapt to damage 100%, especially not fire

@@caolanochearnaigh9804that's not the best thing i don't think you know but a little while ago a srp addon apeared making it possible to join parasite... permanently in a world giving you access to adaptation new powers of creation and destruction and a lot of new mechanics. It's called : cortesia glomerata.
Funny how the iron golem, which is basically a robot and thus it's not organic, gets assimilated before the chicken Also funny how "Assimilated Enderman was nerfed oh no!" Yet a bunch of parasites mobs got buffed as hell
I cannot imagine what kind of chaos would happen if i mixed this mod with lycanites mod and blood moon. Imagine a blood moon starts and you start getting raided by the lycanites mobs enemies while the parasites are infecting your farm animals, villagers and anything they can. It would be an absolute nightmare.
Another commenter mentioned using lycanites and SRP together. Apparently, the parasites were farming the lycanites mobs which increased the evolution phases at an alarming rate
@@dejanpinter7644 I'm surpised that the parasites are able to kill most Lycanites Mobs so easily, since most of them deal a high ammount of damage and have high attack reach.
@@DatGuy12345 problem is, the weak mobs spawn a lot. And the infection turns them into the flesh goop that forms high tier parasites that destroy lycanites
Such a thing already exists. Fire. Parasites can't adapt to fire damage, fire damage is multiplied against them, and while they're on fire they have a chance to fail to adapt to other forms od damage.

It would be interesting if the withering effect could negatively affect the development and evolution of parasites, like a disease that slows down their evolution or weakens them en masse.
I love this mod, with so many constant updates from feedback, constant expansions on the roster and balancing...but one thing I still can't handle is the difficulty level. It's always so huge it bugs my mind lmao definitely not for the weak of heart.
You're not alone, a lot of people have trouble with the difficulty. I've been contemplating making a survival guide for SRP, but idk if I'm good enough to properly do it

You can try another "survival guide" for another modpack or anything, if you want to give a try as well. Of course, I don't know about your schedule but it's not an idea you should sleep on, if you wanna try. You got my faith in it!
Damn dude, I always look forward to your videos cause they're just so well made. They do a better job than the changelogs. With all that said, In the theme of SRP and nocube's addons which you covered and both have effort put into. A New addon has popped up that lets you play as a parasite and it did a good job at it, it's name being Scape and Run Parasites Addon: Cotesia Glomerata. Maybe you could cover it. Just a suggestion though, your channel after all. With all that said (x2) it's your channel and your videos, do whatca want. Best MC mod showcase videos ever

I love how the Rupter and Gnat look like bigger Flood infection forms, this mod feels like the closest thing we're ever going to get to a Halo horror survival game and its great to see youre still updating it!
You know I don’t think enough people appreciate this mod. They always focus on the negatives of how the mod is too hard but the mechanics behind this mods code is unbelievably good.
Yes ! i was waiting for this video to come out for an eternity the update is great and now i know how scents level up. Also i don't know if it does for you too but i can't for the life of me make a colony build itself up anymore.

They pretty much are^^ One of the high tier parasites is literally just a reskin of a cute halo 2 flood. Plus the ruptures work like the popcorn flood. And beckon works like a bit of the grave or protogravemind. It'd be cool if the parasite eventually do use tools and block placements or vehicles like the flood do
The mere existence of the Hijacked Iron Golem raises a horrifying question: How in the Nether can hordes of organic beings infect and assimilate a synthetic machine? Do Iron Golems have brains? Do they have souls? WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!?!!?!??!
Yeah it's interesting, the hijacked parasites do not have flesh as seen with the hijacked iron golem, skeleton, and blaze. Nothing is safe from the infection
I'd guess the parasites nested themselves inside the mechanical frame and use it as a tool, exploiting its vague similarity to a humanoid; it's not true assimilation like in case of organics, as it cannot adapt to damage A better question should be "why aren't the parasites using or manufacturing swords and bows for their own purposes yet?"
@@derrickhageman1969 So you get blended into a liquid if you stand too close to them?? Iframe ignoring attacks should be used in moderation, which is something the devs are not doing
That's pretty much the gist of it tho it might be removed or nerfed considering that lots of things needed fixing in the current update but I don't know why they would add something like that they could of gave both mobs high contact damage and call it a day but nope we got this b.s at least with the reeker it's tied with its dash and not to mention that now the bogle and wraith now swoop down to HIT its targets

I was hesitant to watch another parasites and scapes bdieo because of the overpowered buffed enemiws but it appears that the mobs in the mod are being nerfed nice to see this mod actually improve.
The planned main spawning method for the Crux is something like, if an Adapted parasite dies while on fire, it's remains have a chance to reanimate as a Crux after a while. But I do hope they change this plan, because that would mean that the only people to see the Crux would be noobs who don't know you have to break the remains. But even then, when I first played this mod, even before remains did anything, I just used my common sense and cleaned them up, because I assumed they were bad to have around. So the only way anyone would see this thing is if they get it from a scent, or a Dispatcher made one.
Yeah sorry about that, the more update videos I do the more convoluted they get. I would do a full showcase but the devs have told me they are adding waaaay more content in the near-ish future. So I would hate to have the full showcase be outdated by new consistent mod updates. Also, yorkmousemodz made a new-ish full showcase, so at least there's that

I think I have an idea on how to use the feral parasites, you can turn them against other parasites with a an item that tames them and makes them fight on your behalf.

It also gives you multiple abilities to help you in the conquest of the overworld, nether and even the end why not ?
