I remember when this video came out like Pepperidge Farm. I was in high school and learning to shred. It was unbelievable to see how good per was. I was astounded by what heavy music brought in terms of tech guitar.
Such an interesting style Per Nilsson has. He never bends. He slides EVERYTHING. I really like the legato feel it gives these bizarre (yet fascinating) solos.
It was pretty clean bro =P If your talking about some of the sweeps, yeah, they weren't as flowing as they are on the actual song, but thats simply because his picking hand was slightly slower than his sweeping hand
Scar Symmetry are Swedish, and they sound even greater onstage than they do on the CD...hard to believe, but no, seriously..they were so great I thought my face would fall off.
And no, it's not usual for most Europeans to know five or six languages. Basicly we just know our native language, English and sometimes we also know the basics for a third language (here in Sweden, a majority of today's students studies either German, French or Spanish in high school). But in some parts of Europe, like in the Benelux area and Switzerland, it's more common to know three or four languages due to the're small countries and that they are sorta' wedged in between Germany and France.
@Shyuum Swedish metal = GOD!!! AMAZING! The Champagne of Metal! I love the variety that Scar Symmetry covers. A lot of people bash it but I really could care less.
Per Nilsson is one hell of a guitarist, his solos are so emotionally ascetic, unlike Kjellgren's rock-outs, but the emotions they invoke in the listener are more intense. They are classical, multi-dimensional, epic. Best solos are from Underneath the Surface and Veil of Illusions.
@DeBuraInc01 Dude, soloing over unorthodox rhythm guitar is a common thing in metal...Believe me, with drums and good sound quality it all fits perfectly.
3 albums out on a major label, have toured North America, most of Europe, endorsed by Ibanez, studied jazz theory and improvisation under Alvaro Is Rojas. Pretty serious if you ask me. Sounds like a bad jam practice? I'd hate to hear what you have to say about Allan Holdsworth! hahaha
I learned the guitar solo in mind machine and the illusionist. I can't learn the whole songs because i dont have a 7 string guitar. But Scar Symmetry is an Extremly great band. band.
From those two guitar players, whos the one that played in Carnal FOrge, the rthym guitar on the left of the screen, or the lead guitar on the right??... sorry I don't know their name but they rule... Can somebody answer me that????
it was pretty clean if u ask me. every guitarist cant nail shit 100% all the time. those solos are amazing composition wise, sure there are better shredders then him but this guys solos have actual feel and emotion with them and are phrased in an amazing fasion. cudos to this guy imo. and in not a scar sym. fan at all.
Anyone know where to find an accurate tab of "The Illusionist"...ACCURATE being the key word? I've looked at the major tab sites on the net, and all of the tabs are wrong (missing notes, incorrect positions, etc.)
I'm sure they are familiar with German dialect being from Sweden.....but they are swedish in terms of band origin. Either way they are fucking sick! so rock on
@PietTheRazzor it looks very similar but why would someone so rich buy a js32(one of jackson's cheaper models), it doesn't have the us logo on it so that leaves me to believe that its made in japan(not Indonesia where the js series is made)
