I respect how Malik said "I allowed myself to be in the wrong place at the wrong time." "I allowed myself" is taking responsibility for it, not acting as if it was just something that happened to him.
Sad story about the broken American society. He seems like a really intelligent person, could've contributed but he just had to fall through the cracks.
It is amazing the first time Qaadir and Malik saw each other the latter was in prison, the second time they saw one another the former was in prison, the third time they were both in prison.

Qaadir and his wife were arrested in 2014 on cocain charges. Even in his mid-50s, he was still doing criminal activities. He was also a registered sex offender. Having been accused of sexual contact with 2 children, ages 10 and 11
Scared Straight at Rahway was insanity . I know a few people personally that just came home after 20 that ended up in Rahway . I'm thankful for my freedom.
This is ashame Qaadir seems like a handsome and well spoken young man. I am so sick and tired of this. The lifer had to go BACK to prison, which I know he did not want to do, and talk to this man AGAIN because his drug addiction still kept him stealing
Those two men are very intelligent, i can, and anyone who has half a brain can see that. It just goes to show how important are decisions are. Good luck to any one who is struggling with choices.
I see so many posts saying Beyond Scared Straight doesn't work, but seeing that it has helped some of the kids. It has done something for the other kids. It has helped!
Melvin from Passaic, NJ and I grew up with him and I knew him very well. I knew the very first day that I saw him on Scared Straight that it would not Scare him SI'm one of his cousins and yes he's still in jail doing hard time. I know him as traight because of the person that he was a criminal, but one day he would have to meet his maker and face him and then he will be scared because Hell is no joke.
@FelchBelcher -- By the way, a CORRECT term would be something like, "Eerily, Quaadir predicted his future..". Or "Sadly...", or "Unfortunately..." You're right about "Irony"-- that would apply if he'd gone completely to the flip side of his prediction. "What do you want to become?" Instead of, "A professional thief.", it would be ironic if he'd become a security alarm installer, or a police officer whose job is recovering stolen merchandise, or busting the thieves-- Am I right?
Its literally the drugs. It makes them stupid temporarily. Not that I'm no narc, I spark up a j every now and then but when you're in their situation and think that stealing is the best way to make money, drugs only make it worse. I hope they finally get their acts together though.
@sonottiny Arnold Shipiro had a definite personal interest in this documentary. Malik and I are in a relationship so I get this information first hand. The results of this film made huge differences in many lives. If it was made only for money, I suppose it was a success in that regard. But the success it brought was far more to the people that were affected......including viewing audiences. And since you watched this only days ago...it still sparks interest.
I know some braddahs who spent 20 to life got a second chance to change then 3 months right back in i got a call from that braddah asked him why why what happened he just said he rather be in there then out there it made me cry it made mad because he came to me for change n i feel i failed
Wrong place at the wrong time ain't the truth, its an excuse. I'm on 24 months felony probation right now. 3 months into it. I ani't making no excuses.

There was a guy I knew that was in the lifers group that I saw on Jerry Springer show and he was trying to steer young criminals out of crime he got out then robs a jewelry store the owner fights him and he shoots him gets caught now he's back in he'll die in prison. John derosa.
Damn bro... You coulve been a lot more. You can tell hes smart asf and he know how to talk to ppl. Real asf but drugs will fck someone up w/o treatment. You cant just throw ppl in prison bc of an addiction. They need a real chance
He said he missed his kids youth and is going to see them through their teen years. If I was his kids I wouldn't want him to be a part of my life. If my father was in prison for the first 10 or so yrs of my life and then decided that he'd all of a sudden step up and be my father I'd tell him to go to hell. I guess it's a good thing my father isn't in jail.

@GloryBlueSky thank you man u sed it completely right and after u go 2 jail that first time 4 the smallest reason no1 is going to hire you for any job so since you have no money u turn to the thing that was paying your bills and feeding u which was robbing ppl and stealing

At least he accomplished his dreams of being a career criminal!!!. When are people going to learn that crime doesn't pay????!!!!!!. How many of his "friends" actually go visit him or keep in touch?. No one cares as soon as you go to prison.
