Whether you’re just starting a scarf collection or new to Hermes scarves, some of you have asked “why Hermes” and not other brands? Watch this video for why I prefer Hermes scarves: I’ll give some general background on fashion house, talk about all that goes into their scarf designs, and specifically what I find so appealing about their silk and cashmere scarf collections.

I started collecting Hermès scarves in 2006 and now own 30 cashmere and silk shawls and a dozen silk carrés. I buy 1-2 per year and mostly in duty free boutiques.

These scarves are pure art. Once you see the sharpness of the colors and designs no other silk scarf equates to Hermès. Maya, your video was fantastic!

Love your videos! Any advice on how to fix a snag on a silk scarf?

Thanks for your feedback, Yvette, and sorry to hear about the snag! It may be possible to repair, or at least minimize, with a lot of patience, a fine needle, and good eyesight (or magnifying glass). You have to try “coaxing” the thread back into place. I’ve only done this on a cashmere, but conceptually it’s the same technique for silk. Hope that helps and good luck!

No one can touch the quality of Silk that Hermes uses. I buy them for the colours though.

I would also add that if you decide to resell them for some reason and they are in good condition they retain their value well (and if the model is rare you may even make a profit). I routinely go through my scarves and sell the ones I don't use because I am not a collector, and had no problems sending them to new homes.

Hi Maya, all their scarves are so very beautiful. Thanks for your info. It's very important to learn about their history and how these things are actually made. Excellent video Maya! I totally agree that no other silk scarves can compare to Hermès. I also own a few vintage and contemporary silk scarves from Ferragamo, Gucci, etc., and I love them as well. I believe Audrey Hepburn was the Muse of Givenchy and we can see many photos of her wearing a Givenchy silk scarf. Grace Kelly also made famous the Flora scarf by Gucci which is one of my favourites. I prefer the Hermès silk scarves over the cashmere as I find the colors on silk more vibrant.

Would love to know who gave you that first scarf that started it all! I prefer the cashmere blend, and the quality difference between Hermes and the designer scarves I already own is striking … it’s a different league.

Really enjoy and appreciate the education about the Hermes scarf. Can’t find a single point to disagree with you. We buy and collect because of the artistic design and quality not because of the logo. One can never have enough of the Hermes scarf once you started with one 😀👍🙏

Great information here, Maya! There is nothing like the feeling of an Hermes scarf on one’s neck. I like Burberry, too, and enjoy the raincoats and jackets, but also the warmth of the cashmere scarves in their recognizable plaid.

I love the under the radar too, it gives me that luxe confidence, feeling stylish and pulled together without screaming the logo. I find the same with their jewelry, it’s classic and understated.

@@cranleyplace I also agree with you regarding value, certainly not inexpensive and definitely a luxury but I find I buy very classic basics. I find I can invest in quality pieces that last and then the scarves and other H items add the flare 🧡 it’s what I feel great in (no matter what size I might be) 😉 really happy I found your channel.
