"“You can go a long way with a smile. You can go a lot further with a smile and a gun.” -Al Capone
Chicago in the Roaring 20s. Prohibition has made liquor business illegal and now criminal gangs operate in the underworld to try and take control of the city. Blood, influence, power, and money add up to a dangerous mix on the streets.
In Scarface 1920 you will lead a gang of mobsters aiming to rule Chicago during the Dry Era (1920-33). To succeed you will have to rule every inch in gangland, expand your racketeering, run bootlegging operations, bribe the city officials, and make sure the coppers are on your side.
Scarface 1920 blends worker placement with deck-building mechanics in a game where you will have to recruit new associates, break new deals, fill the streets of Chicago with your thugs, enhance your headquarters -and do some dirty jobs along the way.
Every gang has a distinct set of abilities embodied in their boss, and in every game you will be able to choose a different path to victory. However, in this turf war you will have to confront other rival gangs that share an identical goal: growing their criminal empire. But they are not the only challenge you will face -Eliot Ness and his Feds are out to get you too!"

Thanks a lot again, for another great Scarface 1920 video. Made me entering the solo mode for this game much easier, but still have to grab back to this video and rulebook to fully comprehend and play the solo correctly.

you could literally hear the penny drop when you realised your mistake with the dealers! I love this game and your playthroughs are great! I tried to find a few, but others chit chat too much :)

It was definitely one of those deer in headlights moments where my brain taunted me and said "How are you going to fix THIS one..." lol, thanks for commenting and watching!

Great playthrough, once again! I love your approach, and I love how you catch errors during the edit and point them out during the play. I play a *lot* of solo games, but you made me realize I have been playing one aspect 100% incorrectly, which changes *everything* for me: when the ENF hired an Associate, I was not putting a B/A card into their deck; I was only putting the ones they got from the gang upgrades! :-( That explains why I have always found the AI pretty easy (even though I still lost on occasion). Now I have to "start over"... (it also makes sense now why even though they have so many A/B cards they never seemed to get very many) I don't know if you are a TTS guy, but if you are and ever want to play some time, hit me up. Myself and another guy on the BGG forum are going to get some games together; would love to play with you, if you are so inclined 🙂

Thanks for watching and commenting! In a perfect world I wouldn't make errors but I am glad the corrections all make sense and do not detract from the viewing experience! As for TTS while I greatly appreciate the offer, I do not have TTS. I use a laptop and I always felt the smaller screen detracts from the TTS experience so I stayed away from it. I might look into it again in the future once I get a desktop setup but thats not for a long time (just bought a new Alienware recently so no new big purchases for a while)!

Oh and about stealing money from multiple players at 56:22 , I think you're right, because the rules say "When an Actions card effect refers to 'you', apply it to all possible players." You would think that would also count for stealing money from 'you'.

It makes the msot sense to me and really adds tp the challenge! Thanks for watching!

Great explanation of the Solo rules, I was struggling with some of them. Have 1 question though: at 41:30 you say we're going to look at a neighbourhood that has the inabilty to make a sale at all, but I can't find this in the rules? Rules say after surplus 1st criteria (1.1) is Neighbourhood with the lowest profit. 2nd criteria (1.2) says neighbourhood where more alc/guns are lacking to make a sale. So what is the correct play here? I'm off watching the rest before trying my first solo game 😉

Probably better wording on my part is rule out any locations where you cannot make a sale then go down the list. Thanks for watcing!

When the enforcer seized a neighbourhood at 1:26:54, wouldn't he have taken the other adjacent neighborhood as he didn't have any presence in the neighborhood you chose?

This specific card was worded in a way that made my brain have a duh moment. It said adjacent and for a slight moment I messed up the game terminology in my head. The card allows him to take over an adjacent neighborhood and I might have just spoke badly here. Thanks for watching

1:01:12 about supplied/unsupplied neighbourhoods: The rules say you also consider any truck benefits and alc/guns in the Deals. Are those only considered when talking about supplied/unsupplied or also when counting how much alc/guns you need to store in Neighbourhoods (amount required to make a sale)? Or do you only need to consider what's printed on the neighbourhood tile when storing alc/guns?
@OffTheShelfGameReviews

I might misunderstand your question, there is no limit to what can be stored in a neighborhood. Trucks just give you a break on total resources you spend when making sales.

When storing alc/guns for the enforcer you store as much is needed to make a sale. But do you also consider truck benefits and/or alc/guns in Deals or do you only check what's printed on the neighbourhood? Because the rules about supplied/unsupplied neighbourhoods tell you that you need to consider those.
