I was out on a Sunday just driving around Hells Revenge when I lost the starter in Ol Blue. So I had Mike run me one out. After getting it back up and running we were heading out when I seen a jeep flipped over on Dragons Tail. So we went over to check it out. Luckily the person only bumped their head a little. While we were there getting the vehicle back on its wheels Sesrch And Rescue showed up to help the man and check him out. We rolled it back over and hauled it out and back to the shop. Once at the shop I fixed the starter clearance problem. Then Mike and I ran into Pritchet Canyon to help pull a disabled Jeep Gladiator out and back to the parking lot. I have never seen anyone cleaning the liquids. If this truly happens how about before and after pictures. This is an issue that should be documented so proof can be shown to those that want to shut down the trails.

Yeah the factory cage is stout for one good flip then the windshield is in your lap. That cage keep it up where it was supposed to be.

If he wasnt belted in you would not see a video of the recovery. It would have been fatal. Rory has mentioned before that he does vehicle recoveries like that but does not record them.

Wrecked gear makes a point to show trash pick up in every vid. Too bad it’s necessary. Once, in Billings Canyon I FILLED the passenger floor and part of the back seat with junk and trash and signs of idiot-amongus. That trail is 1 mile more or less. Sad

Go figure, "My good deed" cleaning up a local trail to me. I rolled my 4wheeler end over end 4 or so rolls. I was just doing a trail cleanup while breaking it in. It's really "broke in" with over 5000 in damage. I could point out who the litter bugs are, but to no ends they are the same ones wanting the trails closed to motorized vehicles. Easily figured out, beer cans, bottles and some other stuff. Any and all motorized vehicles get searched for alcohol beverages, with hefty tickets.

Buggy impresses me every time on long hauls, it's ability to pull stuff considering it's weight; it also does awesome putting power down on low traction climbs; little to no axle hop, all power to the ground. Great rig.

Chevy starters are infamous for their shortcomings. The sound it made had me worried that the blower bearings were in trouble, easy fix. gets a guy in a better mood if his rig is proper. Roll cage money well spent. I was going to mention the pulling power of the Buggy, awesome. Thanks for sharing.

First time on those trails is best done as a passenger with an experienced driver. The trails are full of those "where's the road?!" Panic spots. Lol. I only ever was a passenger. No confidence to drive them.

Some more great recovery's by Rory and Mike! Old Blue got a new starter that Rory fixed from dragging on the flywheel and the Buggy struggled a little with the Jeep Gladiator that was a tough pull getting it out of there, but the Trail Mater team got er out!

Hills like that one are precisely why I have a camera on the front of my full size. To continue forward when you have absolutely no idea what is in front of you is not only spooky but foolish, and constantly hanging out the window or jumping out to look every 30 seconds is a pita.

I used to rebuild starters going back 35+ years ago. If you can or if you see etc…. There are the aluminum and also cast iron nose cones for Chevy starters plus different shims. I’m sure you know all about it…. The cast iron ones were always hard to keep in stock but worked quite often for the noises that you’re dealing with……. But hay I’m sure you know way more than me now. Have a great day sir👍 it’s all about how that starter drive engages with the flywheel teeth ,especially on big blocks. If you have a cast iron housing (those were like gold) change it over to new starter it’s easy just need to make sure the solenoid plunger is nice and clean keep extra bushings around ,remove old one oil new one and put back together easier than hell. Hope I didn’t say too much. Sounds quiet after your fix also….

This had to be two of your more amazing videos. Freak’n nuts getting that Jeep upright again. And pulling that Gladiator out of there was no small feat. My luck the new starter would have busted the weight off the flywheel and caused all sorts of destruction. If it weren't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all! I'm glad you clarified it when you did though, not gonna lie it had me a little worried. Thank's for sharing!
