I love how they kept the original 70's tempo from 2:34 - 4:12. It definitely made a difference to the choreography and execution compared to the Broadway revival!!! BRAVO west end and BRAVO Scarlett!!!
Ok, I saw the original in 1975 as well as the Broadway revival. Didn't get to see the London production. I am glad that what I've seen of the London production, it seems that it is closer to the original in terms of the characters 'behavior" on the line. Also, they went back to the original orchestrations thank God. The revival redo's were lousy, even Donna McKennie had a comment once when I spoke to her about the dance arrangement to Music and the Mirror saying it did not having enough punch.
THANK YOU!! I thought i was the only one who noticed that! The original tempo for music and the mirror was dumbed down in the broadway revival. As soon as I heard the snippets for the London revival, it was very close to the original and this performance shows how MATM is supposed to be done by both the orchestra and the actress.
Pretty good. No backbends at the end (double pirouettes down the line usually followed up with backbends); not a fan of long hair on Cassie (personal preference; makes Cassie look too young/unsophisticated); tempos are crazy; still a huge fan of Laurie Gamache's attack at the end.
The revival on broadway was bad representation of the original, the west end had a few updates especially with this performance that made it close to the original.
