I'm pretty amazed at the lack of any type of driving knowledge in these comments. lol. Anyhow, yes fox mustangs are known for having semi loose steering racks causing a little bit of play but the actual sawing of the steering wheel in this video obviously is to keep it in a semi-straight line down the street due to over-powering the tire. Anyhow, awesome car. If I remember right this is a 306 with a 66mm and small head it made something like 700 lb-ft
Man this brings back memories... I was there! Camera car is a '93 Cobra with a mid-size single turbo, I think it was a 67mm. 5-spd with a lot of tire. This Cobra regularly did mid 600's on the dyno and ran mid 10's @ 130's at our local track, which is at 5500+ ft DA all the time. It was a no-BS street car that you could expect to see rollin around on a friday night.
Love this video! Would love to know what turbo set up and motor mods he had on this beast. Hearing that turbo spool up increases the flow of blood to my genital region!
I remember seeing the video from the yellow Mustang, but can't find it anywhere now. It shows the acceleration of this car so much better. When he hits 3rd gear... pulls like a mother... IMPRESSIVE!!!
Right, haven't watched this video in awhile! Always wanted to be driving that car and now I own an 87 notch with a complete termi swap, twin 58/58's and banging gears in a t-56 magnum running 110 octane on the street. After I race people they always say they loved the smell haha
@@martin1234512345 My point is it doesnt have much left in it if any if its on stock block. And if you cant drive a car with more than 570 hp without dying you dont need to drive a boosted car to begin with. TURN IT DOWN FOR TE STREET OR YOU WILL DIE. Thats laughable.
Well my brothers 5.0 is at 550-580. On his 7th year. Still runs good. Never drag races it. Did about 50 or 70 zero to 140mph runs. Its in a cobra kit tho. So almost 800lbs lighter than a mustang. Its fast..
My 88 fox has 347 w/67mm precision makes 643rwhp 710rwtq and has literally every street/strip suspension upgrade front and rear with 275/60 DRs and it is almost impossible to find traction under 65 mph. Its only running 14lbs for the street on 93 oct and is my 5th fox body and im 38 so yes i can drive yes its setup right and thats why i hate all these vids of 1000 plus rwhp cars that just miraculously find traction on the street. It bullshit. In the real world my 2900lb 643rwhp car is a fucking handful on the street. Until u drive one dnt talk shit. Everyones got a 1000hp on youtube.
they are a handful on the street, once the turbos and superchargers get involved is when it gets to be a little much for driving on the street, even for experienced drivers
+Jason D Sanders- Yea People saying he needs front end work or the rear needs to be tighter have never driven a stang with any mods, they get squirrely Quick after 400 hp...
I believe there was a magazine article on this car years back and other than the 570 rwhp it made 733 rwtq. It made peak hp at something like 5200 rpm so this would be a heck of a street car. If it made that same torque at 7000 rpm it would be a 1000hp motor. This is no doubt a powerful ride.
This might sounds stupid, but how do you get the turbo to spool with a manual trans? let the clutch out a bit to load the engine up? Cuz i know generally just revving the engine doesnt do a whole lot.
FYI guys, the car he was racing was a nitroused Fox coupe. This car is a turbo'd '93 Cobra. The other car was driven by a guy named "Sherbring", hence the "what's up now Sherbring?!" in the vid, LoL. This was shot just up the street during one of our dyno days. Pretty crazy!
@pontiacryan2002 At least he has power where he cant keep it planted, which boost can always be lowered, or have suspension worked on to plant it. what do you drive? Im curious.
@both you guys... the turbocharger was also used on aircraft to over come powerloss at higher altitudes... thats when they were first utililized on internal combustion engines.
Go back and read MM&FF March 2004 "10 second stock block" This is Anthony Dickson's 93 Cobra with an HP Performance Stage 2 turbo setup. In this video the car was running a WC T5 and 28x10.5 M/T ET Drags with suspension upgrades. Car runs 10.30's-10.40's @130+mph.
Finally, someone who realizes what's going on. Not only is the ass end light, the whole car is light. It would be a wild feeling stomping down on this thing. And I don't know how many of you have ever driven turbo cars, but it's a different feeling than NA. When the turbo spools, NOTHING stops the engine except a thrown rod, etc. A V8 turbo is just *drools*...
I can't believe all the people saying this guy can't drive. They are so used to their FWD Honda Civics that they don't understand what RWD muscle does. This car is AMAZING. I hope to have something like it one day. A true beast. Probably runs 10's at the track.... with traction, that is.
@marshallvalvestate to get it to spool up you put it on craigslist and never think about driving again. Oh would you happen to know where i can get blinker fluid from?
hey guys im the passenger in this video n i would like to clear a few things up.. 1st WOW 713k views.. haha damn anyways 3 years ago we uploaded this so my uncle in Nebraska could see the car in action cause he was interested in buying. thats why bill said excuse my language..... 2nd i said this is only 570 HP meaning wow it feels like alot more....not meaning wow thats not alot.. 3rd bill is an amazing driver, if u only knew how this car threw u in ur seat.... hard to tell with a mounted camera
@2wheelcody why? for even a stock or mild v8 on boost 570 is a fairly conservative number. sounds about right to me. especialyl since these cars n/a with just heads cam and intake ill put down numbers well into the 300-400 range
while i will never condone street racing, this guy is driving the fuck out of this car. Those that think he isnt have never had a high horsepower car or just watch to much youtube. This guy has 570 whp on 255 wide tires and was able to keep it between the ditches.. Very talented
It is/was an HP setup, 66mm turbo, and the car is a real '93 Cobra. Was originally a bolt-on show car so it has a lot of money in paint and body. It would go bottom 10s, IIRC it went a best of 10 flat.
its probably hard to steer cause of a wore out rag joint in the steering shaft and/or lowered with no aftermarket caster/camber plates and fox body powersteering is over assisted anyway(no feel for the road)
k so ive got a 2000 f150..its not a lightning. but i have some money to spend after saving it up for awhile and i want to make something different than a lightning so i was gonna get a 5.0 aluminator but then i was think 412 hp isnt enough to smoke unsuspecting lightings, and mustangs since lightings make stock 390 hp soo i would have some extra money still left and i cant decide turbo or supercharged???
Most 8 sec Supras are still running factory IRS and rear end. Even most of the 7 sec Supras are still running factory IRS and rear end, no need for a Ford anything. Any idea what the fastest IRS Mustang runs?
Damn it looks like it can barely be kept in a straight line. Little too much power for a street car. Not to preach at you, but its stupid to do that on a city street due to pedestrians. Hell I enjoy driving like this also but couldn't forgive myself if I spun out wrong and killed someone. I am curious however, what internals do you got? Forged rods, pistons, etc? Hyper pistons? Any other mods such H/C/I? Or is this straight boost? Wondering if stock block is handling that.
I'd ride with this guy any day. If you have never driven a car with this power then you have no idea what a handful they are regardless of tires and traction or any other stuff you guys are suggesting. This dude can drive.
my fox is about to have a a turbo coupe engine in it and this just makes me more anxious to have a turbo 2.3 i literally see like one fox a month so ill just have to race the vws and hondas aeound town hahah
Fuckin sick, this reminds me of the Cobra i got from my dad. 610RWHP Supercharged, Stroked, Heads/Cam/Intake, Full exhaust. Sold it and lookin for a MKIV Supra now, high hopes of having a quick 9 second street tune, possibly a high 8 strip tune with Slicks/C16 Race Gas.
Killer car i miss my old one def not as fast as this killa but I had some fun with it... 331 heads cam etc etc....I had the 5 speed for a while and it was a lot of fun but i made the switch to a manual c4 with a 3500 stall and never looked back. .... made my car faster for sure and i thought it was more fun than the stick as well
judging by the clip, this was the perfect time and place, kept it forward, didn't hit anything, controlled the throttle, not to mention pedestrians love to watch! you know since it wouldn't be fair to comment on his actions outside this video
Youre right, I hear you, but to each their own. I bought suspension and brakes first, and then put power in it. But upper and lower control arms and a light weight k member on a stock 5.0 was boring. It would only spin the tires 8 feet out of the hole, and it ran 13s. - I understand safety but theres nothin better than crawling the car sideways, and if youre confident on your driving skills, then more power to ya. This guy had her the whole time.
@cdqickgt I agree with you, driving in traffic was risky and he could use some better traction mods, but this guy has some balls and handled that beast pretty well driving with one hand. By the way, how is your 5.0 project coming along
Suspension doesn' t matter with the power that car was making on the street. It's gonna go nuts either way. He has won numerous heads up race events from the PSCA down to local stuff, driving anything from 7 second turbo LX to this low 10 second car. Everybody misses a shift now and then...his driving is fine!
