It's because hes playing fingerstyle acoustic thump plucks the bass strings 3 bottom fingers pluck the high end strings and hes using his first finger to slap the string to make that percussive sound.
I cant wait. This guy is jaw droppingly good. I've heard 4 songs that all sound like chart toppers. His songwriting is as good if not better than ed Sheeran and his voice is much more enjoyable. Sign me up for every album.

That's what real musicians do. They let the music flow through their instruments. Crazy how skilled he is and his voice is such a crazy good instrument on its own.
He has enough music to make a minimum of three albums right now and since he writes new music every day, there will be unlimited albums. Sometimes, he just posts new music on Instagram, because he couldn't sleep that night. He's constantly "making" new music. Sometimes he soundtracks movies or animes, sometimes he writes R&B, Jazz, Rap, Country, Folk, and then sometimes he fuses them all together and makes another genre altogether, Alejandro Genre. Oh, and then he'll show us how he creates the background music, then he'll add the melody and then layer the vocals. Other times, he'll just play something inspired by Chopin. He is okay he's not all that good I don't think anybody is good so far in American Idol no one has really reached out there I wish him luck but he's not that good that's just my opinion if people don't like it that's too bad for them I'm just telling you my opinion I don't care what anyone else thinks he is okay I have heard a lot better on the X Factor and they did not make it

Ross Rasmussen honestly, most money made through music these days is with live performances. Record companies take a large chunk of an artists profits. He needs a strong marketing push to get his name out there and a team that can help foster his creativity.

I am right there with you. I don't bother with the autotune/manufactured acts. I like singers who can actually sing, and who cares what they look like. (This guy is handsome, but I don't really care.) I don't mind autotune when used as an effect sometimes, but damn, some so-called singers now are dreadful. This man is an actual musician, lyricist and composer as well - an artist. Can't wait for that album. Can't listen to him enough.

People who say it sounds the same have got no clue as to how much musicality , harmony and rhythm Alejandro plays so effortlessly. All considering 3-4 years into music and cleaning dishes to make ends meet for god sake. Pretty shitty signature when there are hundreds of bands that play guitar parts that sound a lot like this. It's a style called midwest emo and Mathrock. Check out bands like Jank, American Football, Algernon Cadwallader, if you like this. Not dissing his skills, he is definitely skilled no doubt. I saw his American idol performance then found his RU-vid of the same song. I was worried that might be his only good song. But every one of the songs I've found is excellent. He clearly should be successful regardless of American idol outcome.
A rough cut of the song he played on the piano during his audition is on IG now. I think it was from when he was writing it. Of course, he said he messed up notes and he apologized, but it sounded great to me. Clearly, he finished it because he played it on AI. Maybe he'll put that on Spotify soon.
He truly is a musical genius, but he shared the secret to it all in his AI audition: he is hardworking. You can tell that he has put a LOT of time and hard work into honing his craft. That kind of discipline combined with that level of talent creates the virtuoso we all came to this channel to see & hear. Bravo, maestro!

As well as stating that he started playing 4 years ago, he also described himself as hardworking. And as I said in my comment above, *in addition to* his high level of natural talent, it is obvious that he has spent alot of time working on his music, which he already affirmed he has. I was complimenting him on both his talent AND his diligence. I'm sorry if you don't think he works hard, or that his hard work doesn't make a difference, but I respectfully disagree.

One trick pony? --Far from it. All of the musicians that jam with me or that I have spoken with recognize the genius. I get brain freeze just watching him shreddin on the keyboard while the vocals are flawless. Doing both at the same time is on another level, tight as hell and spot on. A.I may have brought him into the world, cats out of the bag now the tempo couldn't have been more perfect. I just hope he survives the industry intact. Oscar, I know it's been a month, but I hope in that month you've discovered more of his enchanting music. Seriously, he has so much music that it will take you another month to listen to it all. He has about 20-30 songs here on YT, on Instagram @scarypoolparty he has numerous clips and he adds to them 2-3 times/week even while he is on American Idol. Also, SoundCloud has 10 songs, Spotify has 3 songs available for streaming, including his Audition guitar song, "Out Loud" which has been streamed over 1MM times. He has 3 songs on Apple Play, as well.
I'd hate to be an artist performing after him apart of me wishes he didn't do idol and just got a deal he's miles ahead of everyone on the show and there's some talent there but musicality wise just another level

Just before he went into the audition, he told Ryan Seacrest that when he turned 20, he started playing music because he was tired of working in a warehouse. He never mentioned being a dishwasher, but it clearly said dishwasher under his name as he was introducing himself. It doesn't matter, he clearly should be doing neither.
I washed dishes for a month, my hands felt like the skin was coming off. It's unbelievable and amazing he plays the guitar & piano the way he does and having very hard work to make a living. Good for you Alejhomie, life will never be the same, bravo!

He does alot for charity donations, for causes like: homelessness, Black Lives Matter, Money for Artist out of work...he has some of them on RU-vid. (IE:Coke Sessions, Sofar Live) Hey, his next album is experimental, in his words loud and hard!!! He's having fun right now, and on his Sofar stream, all his fans collectively raised $10,000 for him. Sofar are helping musicians with streaming them, so they can have income. The average money raised per musician is $500!! Alejandro's fans, (we) came through for him to support him through these crazy times.
