Hey Colin, If you happen upon this, please know that your music has meant a great deal to me over the years, and I wish you the best of everything. With great respect and appreciation, Dirk
Thank you Colin, for this and other songs that celebrate our temporary existence. This REALLY helping me through the passing of my 91 year old mother a few days ago. The pics of the lovely lady in this video are very reminiscent of My own dear mum living it up back in the 60's. Peace to you.
Pure brilliance. Awesome having Terry and Colin creating memorable music once again. Maybe Barry, Andy, and Dave can live life in the here and now, get back together and do something. God knows this is a special group of musicians that are loved by SO MANY. C' mon guys, PLEASE?!?!?!
Always been a huge fan of XTC and an avid listener of everything Colin Moulding has written. His songs have such a melancholic, reflective quality but delivered with an ordinary Englishness that is uniquely brilliant. As a songwriter influenced heavily by Moulding, I can say that for me this is without question his best song yet. Played it about 50 times after first listen! A sublime work of genius this, and it demonstrates that there is still something about XTC related music that stands above all other English pop. Great work Colin.
I live in America. If XTC played a reunion concert in England...I would fly there in a heartbeat. Please Andy, get back together with Dave, Colin and Terry (even Barry - t piece) and tour!
@@Waluigiman AP's not been kind to a LOT of former colleagues and friends. Listen to any interview with CM and DG, and you'll realise that AP is the difficult one to get along with. In any case, why on earth would CM play his tunes to AP? He doesn't need his approval or opinion. TC&I aren't XTC. Do you think it's even crossed AP's mind to run his new stuff by CM?
After careful consideration, (and I've thought about it for several months now after being a fan since the first), I'd have to say, that they oversold Andy as the main contributor to XTC. Colin seems to have made an equal contribution, and is just as viable a leader as Mr. Partridge. In the end, it seems they were another John and Paul situation. You can fight over who was whom. The capriciousness of Andy is not evident here, but the Journeyman continues his travel, with much value and beauty evident, and so much skill. Would love to see him continue on this Journey!!! You don't give up on us, and we will not give up on you, Son. Ever! Will post on Terry Chambers later...But I am a drummer, and I think that says it all! Makes me wish I'd have had the money to follow you both much closer, (Finally I can, this late in the game...) and to keep your Music making in flow. .. ( Now I can afford it!) Thanks!
This brings tears to these old eyes... but they're happy tears!! You've both been sorely missed. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! PEACE, LOVE & JOY to you and yours!
stereolab00 It’s more personal stuff between the members. Collin wouldn’t even let Andy listen to the music for TC&I. Even if you got them all together it likely wouldn’t be the same as old days.
Although I actually didn't see it immediately, I soon realized that TC (for Terry Chambers) & I (Colin Moulding) was a clever way of keeping (X)TC in mind through the band/project name.
Brilliant! The drums and bass have an amazing understanding! The drumming is INCREDIBLE! Melody and lyrics the same, delivered with that lovely texture in Moulding's vocal. The sentiment takes us on from 'Say It ('cemetery gates')', informed as ever with wisdom, grace and humour. Who would have guessed that a song about death could be so generous and exhilarating!
4 great songs on this E.P. "Kenny" is a really great groove. Thank you, Colin and Terry for recording together again! More music from you is always more than welcome. You were right in the "This Is Pop" doc.; there really is finally some broad respect of XTC's music. You deserve the highest honors in music! Thanks for all the years of good tunes.
One of my greatest regrets was not seeing XTC live. I had gotten tickets for the English Settlement tour, and my show was to be 3 nights after the infamous and last show in San Diego. The most horrible refund ever. I never thought I'd hear Colin again, Terry is the icing on the cake. May I have more please?
Pure poetry from Colin beautiful song, brings back memories of classic XTC. Andy and Colin without doubt the best songwriters the U.K. has ever produced. I.M.H.O.
The thing is, even on the songs Andy sings on, Colin's backing vocals are a vital part of XTC's sound, it wouldn't have been the same without Colin's backing vocals. A great blend of voices.
Totally agree. And it's a crime that as with other Moulding classics this song will go overlooked by so many. Their loss. Anything to do with XTC = pop genius.
This is great to hear! Just watched the "This is pop" doc in the states. God I missed you guys and for half to be back. Just call up Dave & Andy, go down to the pub, get a few, and let's see what happens. Happy for both of you, give us more.
Colin and Terry, it was a thrill to meet you in person and it's a thrill to hear you together again, after all these years, making music like this. I have always loved you guys for the music you gave me, and I am so, SO happy to hear this, to have you back in my life again with something brand new. Just fantastic! I can't wait for my EP to arrive!
So nice that Colin has decided to be publicly musical again. I recall him saying in an interview several years back that he was basically tired of music (or something to that effect), so it's a treat to hear him (and Terry, of course).
CM gave a radio interview about a year-and-a-half ago in which he mentioned that DG and he had been on the outs for a number of years. It looks like a permanent, three-way divorce.
I keep coming back to this. What an incredibly beautiful song, what sublime musicians, what a timeless, poignant message. Hearing Colin's voice, Terry's drums... perfect.
Great to hear Terry & Colin and a great single I completely agree go on make that call and let Andy know that he has nothing to be worried about. To my mind XTC were and still are up there with The Beatles. You have legions of fans who have been waiting half their lives to see XTC play live again. You have a back catalogue to die for. Don't scatter me yet awhile!
I love this song. my dad recently passed away and was cremated so it brings tears to my eyes to hear this, but it's also a very beautiful song and makes me feel good as well!
