For people that have been following my project since the beginning, you know that before I even started posting music on tik tok I was posting content about bands I loved. Set It Off has always been one of those bands. Every chance I got growing up I’d be sure to go to meet and greets buy albums etc. and I’ve always been in love with the way they can bring both pop and theatrics into edgier music. Although sonically I ended up in a slightly different realm the energy I have was largely influenced by them. Getting to work with and becoming friends with this band has been one of the most full circle moments for me as a musician and you can see and hear how much fun we had making this track. It’s meant to be a fun and crazy mash up of our two worlds and a nod to something we were very stoked on walking into the session that day… Mr. and Mrs. Smith .. I mean Barbie & Ken 💖

i absolutely love this video and song for three distinct reasons: 1. the aesthetic is spot on. pink puke, plastic, please let me leave this perfect dream house. iconic. 2. it reminds me of the fucked up barbie games i’d play with my sister when we were kids. she agrees it’s similar. our barbie’s and kens were in endless relationship cycles of love bombing, cheating, demonizing, and graciously making up. this brings back all of that nostalgia, and is probably what was being said while we smashed their naked plastic bodies against each other. 3. at times it really reminded me of the relationship between my narcissist mom and doormat dad. the passive aggressiveness made me feel at home.

I don't know if anyone has said this before, but this entire song and the music video perfectly describe how I used to play with barbies in my childhood. And apparently, a lot of other kids would as well! It was either a whole bloodbath or murder mystery with a dash of relationship issues and driving to the grocery store in a limo. 😂 *EDIT:* All in all, I took this song as about how even the "perfect" couple could be abusive to each other behind closed doors. Here are all of the easter eggs or references I can find- The Song Barbie is listening to is pink Rover, another song by scene queen. "Barbie's Been a princess way too long." It talks about how Barbie has a ton of dolls that are princesses. "We Bleed in perfect harmony." I assume supposed to mean they both injure each other. "K-I-I-L-N-G" Is supposed to be a version of "Sitting in a tree, kissing." "About to go Amityville on your plastic ass." Is revering to the Amityville murders. "Do you like that?" is I assume another reference to the pink rover. (these are just some I found,)
