The drive from Uttarkashi to Gangotri is incredibly scenic, specially the stretch from Gangnani to Gangotri. We did encounter a few landslides, narrow roads but nothing too troublesome.

Visited all 4 dhams in May'17 first week the weather and scenario is very beautiful but in your video the scenic beauty is out of the world. I have the desire to visit again to all the dhams..

This was in July. It should be possible now that roads have improved. Don't try during the monsoon months though. Also just to be safe speak to a few hotels in Gangotri/Uttarkashi about the current situation.

+Aniket Bhardwaj As you can see the roads are fine for most of the part. You should avoid monsoons as there would be landslides & bad stretches, otherwise you should be fine 👍

+titu4u68 it should take around 8-10 hours, with breaks. The road was little bad just outside Uttarkashi during our trip, but otherwise, no issues👍 ATB!!

How and where from did you get the permit for entering Nelong Valley? I mean, can anyine go with their private vehicles? Because it says, only registered vehicles are allowed.

Best place to enquire about permit/vehicle would be the SDM office in Uttarkashi. I am not sure about the current situation regarding private vehicles etc.

Might not be possible in Feb due to snow. Should not be crowded. Best to check with Uttarkashi administration before starting. ATB 👍

Hi Vineet, First up, ATB for the trip! :) As for dashcam, I use Mini-0801, got it shipped from China. With the increased customs taxes, it would work out around 7-8k. There are some listings for it now on Amazon.in too - amzn.to/2qDPvFo

Thank you! Glad you liked the video. Best option would be to get the cab from your city. Otherwise you can hire from any of the bigger places enroute Haridwar Rishikesh or Uttarkashi. As you can see in the video, there are plenty of hotels, you can probably walk around and book one on spot.

Hotels are fine, basic stuff - best part is there are plenty to chose from. Just drive a little ahead of the Uttarkashi town and you will find lots. i20 should be fine, at places you might want to be careful but nothing major. Haven't been to Badrinath so can't comment on that section. All the best for the trip! :) Have fun!

I'm planning to motorbike ride from Haridwar to Gangotri..How about the road condition?..and how much time it would take to reach there?..

Shubham Bhaduri if you start early enough from Haridwar to avoid the traffic at Haridwar Rishikesh, you should be able to cover the distance in maybe 10-12hrs (with a few breaks). It will be a long ride. Roads should be good at this time of year. From Bhaironghati to Gangotri, road construction was in progress (Jul'16) - that 8 km stretch will be bad.

Thank you! Doing Dehradun - Gangotri should be possible if all goes well. But it will be very hectic. Best to attempt if there are multiple drivers. Plan your departure from Dehradun such that you hit Uttarkashi max by 11 am. That will give you enough daylight to enjoy the views that lie ahead.

One querry...Is it safe(For land sliding/heavy rain) to visit (1)Gangotri or (2)Joshimath/Badrinath or (3)Near to Manali/Dalhousie/Dharamshala (4) Kashmir/Srinagar in this August? Which is better in terms of scenic/picturesque? 1st time visit in the Himalaya...

Thank you!! August should be fine, do keep an eye on IMD website and forecasts and avoid the trip if they issue any advisories for these regions. Do keep a few days as spare in case you encounter any roadblocks. The places you mention all offer completely different experiences, hard to recommend one over the other. But yes, maybe decide between the first 3 keeping the current conditions in mind. ATB! and stay connected, lots more coming up :)
