I hope there will be more chapters of The Maldoror Chants because this one is just absolutely majestic, experimental and progressive with beautiful and haunting lyrics. It feels like one deep trip into the void and back again with a glimpse of the eternal supernal light that comes from the contemplation of the Hermaphrodite.
All these sounds bring the feeling of something sacred and surreal, maybe it's that feeling which lies beyond any belief, words or even human beings understanding. This music is like a door into the unknown, both outside and inside human soul.
I mean, I know this is Lautréamont’s text, but in the usual texts from Schammasch I am not even sure how much ‘soul’ there is to it (not saying that they're soul-less!). Meaning much of it sounds like nihilism wrapped in spiritual metaphors. Which is another reason for why I like it.
To my dearest friend Elena who slipped through my finger tips at my worst >< 9:19 >< To Schammasch, thank you from the depths of my black heart for this artistic epitome of a masterpiece, it means something personal to me... It is one of my two most favorite albums of all.
